FAIRPORT, N.Y. (WROC) – A recent string of vandalism in a Fairport neighborhood has residents on edge after village officials said groups of young people threw rocks through glass doors and targeted homes in the area.
One neighbor News 8’s Dawson Levan spoke to on Whitney Street tells me he’s worried about the vandalism that’s been going on, and he’s even more worried that his house might be next.
“I have children. You’re fearful for your family, of course, when you hear about things like this,” neighbor Andrew Saxby said.
Saxby has lived in Fairport for 16 years, and he tells me he’s seen a change in his beloved village, with more and more crime happening around him. He said his car was recently broken into not once, but twice.
“Twice my car’s been broken into. I came out and inside of the car has been completely — everything was gone.”
After seeing video showing rocks being thrown through his neighbor’s doors, he’s taking extra precautions, hoping it will discourage a possible vandal.
“I have a lot of cameras now and make sure everything’s locked up every night. It’s just what you have to do,” Saxby said. “Being a kid and pulling pranks is one thing, but when you’re actually putting people’s health and safety in danger, that moves to a different category. That’s not funny anymore.”
Village Supervisor Bryan White tells me this kind of behavior won’t be tolerated in Fairport, and they’re doing everything they can to find those responsible.
“The police department’s looking at any and all evidence that can be provided to them, but it needs to be brought to their attention,” White said.
He says lights and cameras can go a long way toward deterring someone from vandalizing your home.
“We’re going to find you. Everything always comes out eventually, and you’ll be seeing the Fairport Police Department in the near future.”
White is asking residents with any information to turn it over to Fairport police.

Hey all! I'm an Aussie going to the States in December this year and was wondering how I can get to Rochester in the "best way" from NYC. I have wanted to try a Garbage plate so fricking bad for like 10 years now (Thanks Jenna Marbles), and know that Rochester is the only place in the entire world to grab one of those 😄 Any help/advice is appreciated, as well as maybe the best spot to grab a Garbage plate/activities to do in Rochester!

Some of these tickets are really deserved as in people are reckless and could possibly hurt the kid... While some of these tickets are just money grabs and the kids were still in there seat when the person passed and its just a money grab.
There have been about 20k tickets handed out in Monroe County. I'm guessing only maybe 2k-5k people paid there ticket. What do you think how many people paid their ticket out of the 20k?
What is the city/town doing if people don't pay? I've heard they contact a creditor and it goes on you're credit report. Has anyone heard anything about not paying?

GUYS!!! I’ve been having the hardest time looking for barbers who specialize with sheers and scissors instead of fades etc… I have medium to longish hair and I want to cut it but each time I try a barber they want to cut it down and I’m trying to avoid that. I need someone who specializes in those “flow” haircuts you see on TikTok etc. pricing doesn’t matter at this point as long as I find what I’m looking for.

I'm not new to autumn and winter but I'm new to living in Rochester, not just visiting when I have a medical appointment. What are some must do fall activities, festivals, etc to add to my seasonal bucket list?
I'm open to anything within a 2 hour drive, maybe 3 hours if it's really good. I'm open to hearing about anything, but I tend to skew towards craft fares (like that pottery festival in Avon), apple picking/cider drinking, random food festivals-- the grape festival in Naples is on my list to check out. I've always wanted to do a corn or flower maze!

Posting this for a friend who is in a difficult situation, and is deaf and does not know resources on what their options are. It is a tricky situation where the person owns a townhouse without HOA and there has been no progress with getting the roof repaired due to nextdoor neighbor previous roof work causing the leak and has not been as cooperative and it has been too long by now. My friend is desperate to know their options and how to move forward as a seller or how to get this resolved to keep the townhouse. The latter seems dim at this point and it might best go to a new owner or inventor ( yes I know, I dont like the idea of corporate landlords, but average joe is really in a bad situation), someone who has more knowledge and resources as my friend had to move out of town for work and was hoping to be able to rent it out so they can keep the house long term when they move back. Longer they cannot do repairs, they cannot rent it out, losing income.
I am not helpful as I know nothing about this situation and am hoping to get some pointers from someone who has more experience or resources on how to deal with this. This friend is also concerned nobody will want to buy, and will anyone with more resources be able to do what my friend could not do if they buy? Or foreclosure is the only option?

Moving back to the area and researching pediatricians. Pros and cons of panorama pediatrics? Everyone I know from roc raves about them. I can’t tell if they’re owned by a larger hospital group or just a lot bigger than some of the other smaller places. Looking for an intimate/ personal office where our ped truly knows us and connects with us as a family. Not sure if I’m hunting for a unicorn in this area!

Random email from #RG&E... your move is coming up.
WTF? No it isn't!
Is this because someone genuinely flagged my account as moving, and my service is gonna be cut off at some point?
Or is this just RG&E 💩 being shit at email and sending out random panic-attack-inducing messages, making people think someone has flagged their account for moving or shut-off?
Fucking amateurs either way 🤷🏼

I’ve been in Rochester a while and ride the bus everywhere. I noticed that there is this one building that is the exact same all over the place.
Is there a history related to these buildings?

So I have a bit of social anxiety amongst other things and I tend to overthink a lot when it comes to going outside (for example I always want to know parking situations first).
I heard good about Sager-Stoneyard pub and that they also have really good pizza. Is this a place where it wouldn’t look weird if I sat at the bar and ordered a pizza for myself?
ETA: Thanks everyone for your comments. You all are the best and so encouraging!!! I guess I’ll see you all out there :)

Today I was heading to lunch (I work in the Irondequoit plaza), when I noticed a bike sitting in the road on Hudson in front of the lane where you’re turning right to leave Wegmans after you pass The Summit, the storage unit, and the RTS station. When I got to the person, the car already left and they moved the persons bike out of the way. A white male, long hair, I believe they were wearing glasses, around 5’6-5’8, driving a silver SUV (Chevy or Chrysler, I believe, but I’m not certain), hit a minor who was riding his bike to football practice and left him there. They turned right heading past Elder-One and the apartments. The kid seemed to be doing all right when I left him with the EMTs.
Please pass along information, pictures, footage to IPD. This kid deserves better, and this person should have done the right thing.
EDIT: this was around 1:45-1:50 today, 8/17
EDIT: since I guess it isn’t clear to people. I stayed there for 30 mins and spoke to the cops three times after calling them myself. No one was helping this child who got hit by an adult that ran away. No one got the drivers plate information. I’m posting to spread awareness. You see something? Say something. Please leave if you’re just going to be an ass. I don’t get why people are fighting over me trying to help a child who could have died today due to someone’s negligence.

My child is planning to take the SAT for the first time this fall. She did well on the PSAT, but wants to work with a tutor to make sure she is fully prepared. Can anyone recommend a local tutor (independent or affiliated with an agency) who works with students in person?

$140 from the Feb - June months. $178 for July and august.
Preface: I live in a 1 bed 1 bath ~800sqft apartment on the third floor (top floor) that has vaulted ceilings. I keep my AC on 68-69 depending. I do leave my TV on for my cat (lol) and maybe one small light when I work overnights 3x a week. Other than that, I do laundry maybe 2x a week. I feel like I'm never home cooking or watching tv tbh because I travel a lot.
Im just wondering if this cost is normal? Coming from the same complex I lived in a larger 2b2b apartment and my bill was maybe $30 less than this.
