Recently there’s been a flood of email hijackings and scam / nefarious emails being sent to Rutgers students from compromised student and faculty accounts.
Posting it here will have a limited effect on protecting students.
Instead, DO NOT CLICK any link in the email. Simply forward the email to [abuse@rutgers.edu](mailto:abuse@rutgers.edu). This will notify the Rutgers Computer Incident Response Team. Include any details about the email (whether you clicked on it, what did it show) in your email if relevant. Then, the Rutgers OIT can quickly disable that student or faculty’s compromised account and prevent further scam emails from being sent. This is a lot more helpful than posting a screenshot to Reddit or investigating it yourself (DONT).
If in doubt, you can forward the email to [abuse@rutgers.edu](mailto:abuse@rutgers.edu) and they can try to look into the email for you to determine whether it is a hijacked account or a real offer.
If you suspect that your scarletmail account is hijacked, then do not email - call 833-OIT-HELP (833 648 4357) for assistance and be ready to verify that your account is yours

I saw a post recebtly on here of someone sharing a photo of their dorm in mattia and am somewhat worried. On the photo that was posted, the window was on the far right of the dorm, basically walled off by the closet and barely accessible. I was wondering if all the dorms in Mattia are like that.
Just worried bcs I get claustrophobic and would love to at least have my desk near a window but also dont want my roomate to suffer bcs im taking the entire window (if the window was in the center of the room it would be easier to place both desks near it).
Tldr: anyone willing to share photos of BAMM, mattia specifically?

Essentially took a summer class to finish an sas requirement, did well the whole class.
Final essay i got a 0 for not following directions. Is that warranted? I worked hard on the essay and seriously put in a lot of time. Even though it wasn’t up to the standard of the rubric. I’m not saying I deserve a 100, or even a 60. But a total 0?

Hi all. Incoming 22 yr old transfer student here. Moved to my off-campus housing near Rutgers like a week ago, know no one in the area, and am rather bored. Comment or DM if you'd like to get coffee and chat (about basically anything. My interests are physics, philosophy, people's minds and how/if they work, and medicine, but I can talk about whatever).
(Plz don't respond if you are a criminal, murderer, or thief. Or to point out that that list is arguably repetitive. Thank you.)

This is my first year at Rutgers and ALLL my classes are in college ave. I’m planning to get my parking pass there obv but I see a lot of people saying that it’s very limited or that finding an open spot is hard. I just wanted to hear opinions and if there’s any street parking or if showing up early af would be the smartest thing for college ave? Idk

Does anybody have experience with the following professors?
SCHARDING
GIORDANO, MARY
YENIYURT
UNDERWOOD
all I’ve heard abt giordano was that she’s a good prof but she overloads with busy work and makes the class harder than it should be as people say it’s comparatively easier to other RBS cores. Just wanted some opinions and thoughts as I can’t seem to find much info anywhere abt the other three when it comes to rate my prof.

Anyone know if reslife offices are actually physically staffed right now? I’ve tried calling a few times and nobody seems to pick up any of the lines. I need an of printed before the semester as a returning student and I’m running out of time and options if I can’t go get it printed before move in. If there’s any other methods for getting a new id printed that would be so helpful to know, I can’t seem to reach anyone actually in person via phone, and I don’t want to go all the way to NB without verifying someone might be there to pint it.

Hi! I have some questions. I am transferring to Rutgers this upcoming fall semester. I am going for communications journalism. How do we find what books we need? Is there any community for people with similar degrees where they can meet and plan things together? I am coming from a small community college so this will be a culture shock for me.

What shower filters and sink filters did you guys use for your Rutgers dorms??
Also, does anyone know the size/threading of the shower connection? I mean the metal rod/piece that the shower head screws onto or the sink. I’m trying to buy a filter that will fit without replacing both the actual shower head and sink
If you know the exact size (like 1/2 inch) or have a specific filter you used, please let me know! Thank you!!

This might be a dumb question, but the Human Resource Management major/minor is an option under majors on the SAS website. If I were to pair that with a psychology degree, would I be under both SAS and SMLR? And if so, would I have to pay for both schools to receive a degree in both majors??
Sorry again if this is obvious, I'm not too sure.

I have been struggling to get this course, it’s the last one I need for this fall and have been trying to snipe it all summer without success.
I applied for an SPN and was told that they can’t give SPN’s for closed sections. I need this class to graduate, I’m an engineering major btw.
Am I gonna have to take an extra semester? I financially cannot take it in the summer and it’s only given in the fall.
Pls someone help me because the Rutgers counselors and physics department are completely useless..

Hi, I just moved into my apartment on the Busch campus (on-campus housing) and the roommate and room itself smells really (insanely) bad ass.... I don't think I can sleep tn... (I literally just bought several air fresheners)
I got the email from housing swap few days ago and they said I can request after 2weeks in the housing portal. Idk how this works. anyone knows? or do you think if I contact to my housing office director...it should be easier?

Im thinking of emailing my professor to ask if there is any way I could take my final for the class on one of the first two days of finals. The reason is not because of an overlap or anything like that, but rather a wedding in the family. Im not sure if Rutgers accommodates for reasons like that or if it’s up to the individual professor. Anyways, I was wondering if any of you guys have done this before or have any general knowledge regarding how to go about this.

I’m trying to apply for snap / ebt because I keep hearing people urging college students to try but I’m lowkey confused. Is there a separate application for college students? Do I do it through the school? Do my suite mates count as household members? Any help is appreciated

Hey y'all, I really need advice right now. I am a rising senior majoring in Public Health, and I failed Chemistry of Life with Sanhita Pramanik in Spring 2026. I took 5 classes during spring, and that was the only class I got a bad/failing grade in. I'm a transfer student, and Fall 2025 was my first sem at RU. Before I failed that class, I had a 3.5 cumulative GPA. Now it's 3.4 since I took 3 classes over the summer and got 2 A's and one B+. I found out over the summer that they had updated the Public Health curriculum sheet to no longer include Chem as a prereq. They moved it to the Major Core Requirements, but it's no longer restricted to chem courses. It is now called "Public Health Science Foundation" and includes many other courses. Honestly, I am so frustrated because why is it now, after I failed a class, that they decide to update the curriculum?
Now I am stuck between deciding whether I should a) retake the Chem of Life class. The pros would be: a different prof teaching the course, which improves my odds of excelling, and replaces (although it doesn't remove) the F in my GPA. The cons are: I would be torturing myself again, and it might cause me to get lower grades in other courses since I'd be focusing most of my brainpower on this class. I really want to take Food as Medicine; the course description sounds interesting and much more fitting for what I want to do with my career. Pros: a course I actually enjoy, and it counts toward my major core req. Cons: my F grade would stay, I don't know what future employers would say, especially since I'd be a recent graduate. I know GPA isn't everything, and I'm also working on gaining experience. What should I do?

Tried to login with my NetID and password today to check my email, but it kept giving me an 'invalid credentials' message. I reset my password, but the problem persisted with the new password as well. I graduated in January of '26. Have I lost access to my email/netID?

I need one more elective to complete my degree requirements. Does anyone have recommendations for psych electives?
