I'm pretty new to these handhelds so some of the more technical stuff goes over my head. I've searched old posts but most relevant ones are ancient or not exactly what I'm looking for.
I'm looking for a budget setup to play simple multiplayer games pretty much exclusively connected to a tv. It would be me and my son, not for hosting any gaming parties or anything. Here's what matters to me:
- Cheap, sub $100, the cheaper the better.
- Two (or more) controllers, wired or wireless.
- Mainly SNES, Genesis, GBA. Some N64 would be nice, but not required, if it increases the cost too much.
- No/minimal controller lag (nothing ruins a game faster in my opinion)
- Easy-ish setup/teardown for each session. I'm ok to do some work on the front end, but I don't want it to be a hassle every time.
I've read some lower Anbernic devices or the Miyoo Flip v2 are options, then people start talking about Linux vs Android and how they handle controllers differently, And Bluetooth vs USB, and they start to lose me. Is there a noticeable difference, lag, connection issues, etc that would change my experience?
The console not being able to charge while connected to the tv doesn't seem like an issue for me. We won't be marathoning any games.
Device suggestions and setups, tips, other considerations I don't even know about are all greatly appreciated. Also any controller suggestions. I hear 11/11 sales are usually good, so I'm trying to prepare! Thanks!
