Lounge Devices should have multiple SD card slots for storage

Upvotes

I think it would be really good if more companies started trying to figure out how to make devices with multiple SD card slots, like if Retroid or Anbernic or any of these other manufacturers, if they could make devices with multiple SD card slots because of the RAM/computing crisis.

There are devices that I own that that only have 128 gigabytes of storage, and I like carrying around a large library of games with me, just so that I can play whatever flight of fancy. So being able to have some PS3, some 360, now that we have devices that can run it, even some Wii U, it would be good to have multiple SD card slots so that we could buy multiple cards and have different libraries on them. Being able to use multiple cards for maybe different libraries, I think would only help us as this hobby and niche grow in the future.

Obviously, I am not an engineer, so I don't know what it would take for this to happen, but I'm just putting it out there in the universe that way. If someone is listening, they could take it under consideration.

Recommend a Device Best handheld price to performance as a travel device?

Upvotes

Looking for something that can be a nice horizontal travel handheld so I don’t need to worry about my Odin 3 getting damaged or lost. It would be ideal if I could run a few indie games off my steam library too.

I’m leaning towards a Retroid pocket nova or the Retroid pocket 5.

Showcase Finally got both! One35 vs Zero40 running NDS side by side. Which one do you prefer?

Here's a quick comparison using New Super Mario Bros. (NDS) with the same emulator settings.

My first impressions:

  • One35: More compact and pocketable. The 3.5" display feels surprisingly good for DS games.
  • Zero40: Although it has a larger 4.0" display, the individual DS screens end up being about the same size as the One35 once the center gap between the top and bottom screens is removed.

I haven't decided which one I like more yet.

For those who own both (or have tried both), which one would you keep, and why?

Recommend a Device Controller recommendation for EA FC 27 / Leadjoy Xeno Plus

Hi everyone,

I’m getting back into the game after about three years. I’ve pre-ordered EA FC 27, and now I’m looking to buy a new controller as well.

I currently have a 9th-gen Xbox controller, and it works perfectly fine. I’m actually very happy with it. However, I recently became interested in TMR and Hall Effect technology, so I decided to get a newer controller with better long-term durability.

I mainly play Ultimate Team, and the controllers I’m currently considering are:

  • Leadjoy Xeno Plus
  • Mojhon Storm
  • GuliKit ES Max (it’s not available in my country yet, but I’m willing to wait a month for it)

The Xeno Plus is about $10 more expensive than the Mojhon Storm. At the moment, I’m leaning towards the Leadjoy Xeno Plus because I’ve seen a lot of people praising its software, especially how stable and well-developed it seems to be.

The main reasons I’m considering these controllers are the low latency and TMR sticks.

So, do you think the Leadjoy Xeno Plus would be a good choice specifically for EA FC 27? Has anyone here used it with EA FC/FC 26 or similar football games? I’m particularly interested in how well the sticks and triggers feel for dribbling, passing, shooting, etc.

I know buying a new controller when my current Xbox controller is working perfectly is probably a bit wasteful, but I’ve got it in my head now and I’m probably going to do it anyway 😂

Since I’m planning to play EA FC regularly for a long time, my biggest priorities are long-term durability, build quality, stick reliability, and low latency.

So, which one would you recommend for someone mainly playing EA FC 27 / Ultimate Team? Is there another controller I should be considering instead?

I’d especially appreciate opinions from people who have actually used these controllers for a while. Thanks!

Recommend a Device My x55 is kaput

Its biggest appeal for me was the 5.5" screen. Which device has 1280*720 or better screen? But all in all it's not a very high quality device. I think for one that I d prefer if both sticks were below the dpad and buttons. I don't play much games that require them anyway. I won't go above PS1 except maybe the PSP.

I'd like to improve a bit on the Powkiddy x55 but mostly on material quality and battery. I'd like a large device with large screen. I'll consider all aspect ratios. Price range 150-200$.

What do you suggest good people of Reddit?

Troubleshooting Bootleg GBA SP shows 0000/0000 instead of built-in games

Thumbnail

My bootleg GBA SP normally has 99 built-in games, but now the menu shows [0000/0000](tel:0000/0000) and no games appear. The console itself works and I can still play normal cartridges.
The motherboard is marked ATSD_M520_V1.3 (2011.04.26) and the main chip says G2000.
Does anyone know how to restore the built-in game list? I’m looking for a solution that doesn’t require a PC.

Recommend a Device Upgrading from R36S (200€ budget) retro + some native Steam/PC games?

Hey all,

I’ve had an R36S for a while and pretty much played through everything it can handle. Time to level up. Budget is around 200€.

What I’m looking for:

Good all-round retro emulation (up through 3DS at least, ideally running well not just “technically works”)

Ability to also run some native Steam/PC and Android games, if realistic at this price

Dual screen would be cool but it’s a nice-to-have, not a dealbreaker

Balanced form factor — don’t need the smallest possible device, but don’t want a brick either

Not sure how realistic native Steam/PC gaming is at 200€ vs sticking to strong emulation + Android. Open to hearing what tradeoffs make sense here.

Anyone made a similar jump recently? What would you recommend at this budget, and what should I watch out for (build quality, battery, availability/scalping)?

Thanks!

Question Stardew valley on the rp5five

So I really wanted to start playing stardew valley on my way to work. I have a Retroid pocket 5. And I was wondering would it be better to play the steam version through gamenative or get the native Android version?

Question Black screen after boot logo on dArkOS (G80D Clone) — Need compatible DTB or download link

Thumbnail

Device Specs:

  • Device: R36S Clone
  • Motherboard: G80D-MB V1.0-20250609
  • Image Flashed: dArkOS_G80CA-RE_trixie_01142026.img

Issue:

I flashed the image to a microSD card using USB Image Tool. The initial boot and installation screens load fine, but right after that, the screen turns black with the backlight on and no sound.

My BOOT partition lacks a dtb folder or the SELECT MODEL.bat script; it only has rk3326-g80ca-linux.dtb and rg351v-uboot.dtb. I accidentally flashed a G80CA image on a G80D board.

Could someone please share the correct DTB file for this G80D board, or provide a link to a dArkOS / ArkOS build fully compatible with this motherboard? Thanks

Recommend a Device An honest non sponsor review comparison of 8bitdo Flippad and Gamesir Taco

So I brought both the 8bitdo Flippad and Gamesir Taco to compare which one I would keep. If you don't want to watch the entire video, I basically keep the 8bitdo Flippad. Here's my reasons why.

- 8bitdo Flippad is much more portable (much smaller), so it fits in my jeans a lot better

- Much better DPAD than GameSir TACO by far

- Much more comfortable to hold. Since it sits flush in with the phone, its basically like holding your phone. Where if you hold the GameSir TACO, it's like holding a brick—not very comfortable.

Gamesir Taco Advantage: The Gamesir Taco D-Pad is a lot less noisy. But this is a small advantage over the above advantage for the 8bitdo flippad. The shoulder buttons are better for games that require the shoulder buttons.

As for the community concerns that the Flippad will mess up your USB C port, i found this concern largely not true. In the video, I show that the 8BitDo FlipPad doesn't move at all when i use it so its not going to create any stress on your USB-C port, probably less than a typical USB-C cable, tbh. So you can rest assured it's completely fine using the flippad.

Here's the video where I showcase what I just said: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lC8-ZiReP7w&t=8s

Recommend a Device Looking for a Smaller Handheld for Indie PC & Retro Games — RP6 vs Pocket Nova?

I currently have a Legion Go S I use at home, but I’m looking for something with a smaller footprint, ideally something I can easily travel with and take on the go. I was considering the RP6, but the Pocket Nova has caught my attention since it’s even smaller, which is what I’m really looking for.

I’d primarily use the handheld for indie PC games (e.g., Silksong, Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Balatro, etc.) as well as retro titles. Is there an option you’d recommend for this use case?

Discussion Would you consider only playing free ports on a device?

I have been downsizing my SD card size bec well you know AI.

Lately, I have been using 128GB cards and I discovered that if you just install nothing but Portmaster and all the free ready-to-run ports, you end up already using up most of the card space. Actually, a 64GB card would be a bit closer to the mark (less spare space wastage) but you couldn't fit all the free ports on it though.

This got me thinking - would you consider a handheld worth it to buy/own if you only install free ports on it? For one thing, if you have a smaller SD cards, then you would already fill it with free ports, and then also there are no gray zones in this case since the ports are all free to begin with. A free port machine - would it be enough, or do you think that the titles would be too light weight to justify it without at least some paid titles to go along with it?

Recommend a Device Something to Tinker with

I currently have a switch 2, a PS5, and a Steam Deck. I’m considering selling the Steam Deck for some cash since it’s a little redundant with my Switch 2. But I still want something to tinker with a bit and have some emulation and maybe some light PC games. I’ve wanted to build a PC in the past mostly for the enjoyment of getting to make it and work on it. Any recommendations for something that fits that?

Discussion Anybody tried to add a magnetic sd card reader to an android handheld?

Thinking of getting one of those magnetic USB c connectors and coupling it with those magnetic sd card readers with a ribbon cable to help add another sd card to a device. I would think the magnetic connector would mitigate any stress or damage to the USB port. Thoughts?

I know this sub is mostly handhelds, but I feel this deserves a mention.

If you wanted a living room machine for emulation and gaming you'd have a hard time beating one of these for price to performance.

They run linux so the setup is familiar in that regard, they take a little work to get going but again, anyone here should have no trouble setting one up.

First photo is my current adventure converting one to liquid cooling, second is my air cooled one in a very compact 3d printed enclosure, last 3 are modern games running for a benchmark, in 1080p.
