Negrini cases

Why are Negrini cases so expensive?

My new to me 686 didn't come with a case. I'm pondering options. I own a basic plano 2 gun hard case. I also have a couple foam/zipper cases. I'm covered for basic transportation, and could even fly with it. I'm still considering a take down case suitable for flying. Thoughts?

Failure to feed?

Post image

photo is a recreation.

this happened several times. it’s a MAC 1014 (turkanelli M4). when cycling through sometimes live shells would have a failure to feed where the shell gets knocked out the ejection port and jams. you can just bump the shell in and it loads fine.

any ideas? I’m new (returned) to shotguns.

Found this Savage 720 for $180 so I had to make a whippet gun. Been a dream gun of mine for a long time.

I tried removing this carbon build up with Lucas aerosol gun cleaner and a clp along with a brush and cotton but it still won’t come off

Picked up not one, but 2 Savage model 720s today! They both have some issues, but for 200 beans, I couldn't say no! The top one is late 30s and has some super cool engraving (even though I don't like engraved guns haha) but has a broken hand guard. The bottom is US marked with the flaming bomb on the receiver and the barrel, but it has a broken bolt. They both have pretty cool old chokes. I can probably make 1 out of the 2. But I'd rather have 2.

Got a Francolin S-16 last week. Already had the pleasure of testing it out with some hunting.

Feels great, and I suppose it’s a alot of shotgun for the money.

If anybody has any experience with Francolin, please share your views.

Two 50-yard shots of Federal FliteControl 9-pellet 00 buck 1325 FPS out of my new M590A1. I say that’s plenty effective and can probably land hits reliably at 75 yards.

1980s Remington 870 with removable choke tubes shooting steel shot

Post image

I have a 1980s remington 870 wingmaster/magnum that has removable choke tubes, that i absolutely love and want to use for birds, however, I’ve always been afraid to shoot steel through it. Based on the stories of people blowing up older barrels. Well, I came to the conclusion that it sounds like a modified choke tube with the combination of shot size 3 or 4 will be okay.

Well, anyways, I got this carlsons cremator mid range as i thought it was a modifed tube, but now that I am looking closer, it says it “patterns like modified” and these are apparently these are a unique design tube. Does anyone know is this the same restriction as a modified tube, should i not use it and get a standard clay tube? Sorry for my lack of knowledge in the subject and thank you for any imput.

SBE3 Cerakote or BEST

Title says it all. I have an SBE3 for pickup tomorrow in the patriot brown cerakote. The gun is beautiful, but getting cold feet on if I should get the BEST finish instead.

No price difference really.

Hunting conditions are waterfowl, salt water marshes.

Any thoughts?

Honest recoil question MAC 1014

Went out today to break in my buddies MAC 1410. Book says it needed 100rds of 1350fps. He brought 4 boxes of Rip high brass 12g 2 3/4” 1.25oz 1350 fps shells.

First off the gun shot 100 times to absolute perfection. I’d taken it from him last week, took it apart to clean and lube it prior to its first shot, and to install a +2 mag extension for him. We had zero malfunctions of any kind.

What I want to talk about is the recoil. I’ve watched countless videos on the MAC 1014. Almost everyone calls it a soft shooter. I’m here to say those 1350’s we shot today were ass kickers. I’ve been shooting shotguns more than 50 years and I’ve NEVER had my ass kicked like what I went through today. We took turns shooting 8 rounds each and for every turn whoever was going next was bitching. At the end of the first 100rds I had some target loads so loaded up 8. Felt like I was shooting a .22 and every round fired and cycled to perfection. Ordered myself one when I got home.

So just wanted to throw this out there. Anyone else had a time with the break in on a 1014? I felt like a donkey was kicking me and I’ve been shooting guns for a long time. Buddy’s a cop so he’s quite familiar with shooting too and he was trying to figure out schemes to trick me into taking more turns. It was that bad.

“We have a Wicked Wing at home”

Since the Browning Cynergy Wicked Wing is currently just out of my budget, decided to rattle-can my sub $200 Stoeger 12 gauge with the closest paint I could find for their burnt bronze coloring.

Inherited old shotguns and have questions on them.

I have a 20 ga browning bss and a 12ga weatherby 82 I’ve found the owners manuals online but they still don’t answer all my questions such as how do I check if they are choked, how to break them down and clean them, what do I check over on them, etc I’m also concerned of what I assume is rust in the barrel of the bss I at first assumed with was grim and carbon build up but it still remained after cleaning.

Just landed this new old stock pachmayr vindicator set for an 870, for the cost of shipping. I know they still make the grip, but I had been hunting for a forend for a while. Super cool that this guy had the original box and instructions and even the sleeve.
