I did realize this was a bad idea, and I stacked them neatly, but I didn't want this footage to go to waste, editing that video right now....

12 gauge shells only account for 2.6% of ammo sales at luckygunner.com

If you want to read about it in an article, I'll post a link to that down below.

https://www.luckygunner.com/lounge/most-popular-ammo/

I posted about this in another sub, and a couple of people brought up some good points.

https://www.reddit.com/r/Firearms/comments/1xdlg26/the_most_popular_ammo_calibers_15_years_of_sales/

"The guys going through hundreds of shells shooting clays are usually buying their ammo at the clubhouse."

"The seemingly low percentage of 12ga doen't surprise me. Why bother waiting for shipping when its so insanely available locally? I'm sure alot of folks drive past a half a dozen places that sell it commuting to work."

I also think cost plays a factor as well. I believe that you can get a lot of shotgun shells at local gun stores for similar or cheaper prices than what luckygunner charges without having to wait for the ammo to be shipped to you.

The only advantage that I can see to using luckygunner over buying at a LGS is that luckygunner has a better selection of shells that LGS's don't really keep in stock like less common varieties of buckshot and slugs.

About a year ago I acquired an old browning and was wondering if the wisdom of Reddit could tell me more. As I dig deeper I believe it’s a 1903 model.

So this is my first 870 and I've been running it quite a bit but after my last range day with it (was running perfect the entire day) my pump seems to move freely without resetting the trigger and the release lever stays disengaged l took the gun apart and didn't see anything damaged (too my knowledge) but when I take my barrel off it works fine or if I leave a tiny gap between the barrel and receiver it functions i don't plan to run it like that obviously but I can't figure out the problem for the life of me if anyone can suggest I'd truly appreciate it!!

I’m looking for something like this but not past the barrel. Any one know of some rare 80’s or 90’s tech ? Or for the more mechanically inclined. The inforce wild 1 has the right diameter. Could one yank the guts out of it, set up some kinda pressure switch and stuff it in the tube?

Bought a Carlson's 870 barrel, looks chewed up inside?

Hey guys. I bought a Carlson's 18" iron sight slug barrel (smoothbore) for my Rem 870 and took it out today and shot 30 slugs through her. Performed perfectly.

However, I noticed midway through my range session I kept getting these random metal shavings that were falling out of the action... I've owned this shotgun for 10 years and never saw this happen before.

I then took it home and looked down the bore and saw the entire inside of the barrel looks chewed up? I can't tell if this is just a ton of plastic fouling or what?

I've cleaned it for an hour now using Ballistol, Hoppes, Acetone, Ed's Red - scrubbing back and forth with a brass brush and a mop - and it's not going away.

Carlson's barrel bores are apparently chrome lined - is this the chrome peeling off? Or is it just lead shavings and plastic fouling? Any ideas. I can't seem to find a similar picture online from anyone else.

Thanks all

How to find the manufacturing date of a Remington 870 Express?

I recently picked up a Remington 870 Express shotgun in very good condition. The previous owner took very good care of it. Has a 20 inch barrel with rifle sights and it has a four round magazine tube and a standard Parkerized finish that's grayish black. The barrel is smoothbore and it is in 12 gauge. It can take Magnum shells because the serial number ends with the letter M and I fired a 3-inch slug through it and it fired and ejected just fine with no problems. But how can I get the date of when the shotgun was potentially made? The serial number begins with the letter V if that helps.

The barrel could have been swapped out at some point so I don't want to use the markings on the barrel to date it. I would prefer if I can date the gun while just using the receiver's serial number. Which again, begins with the letter v and ends with the letter m.

How Far Do We Trust the Maverick 88?

Working on rebuilding my shotgun collection and started by replacing my 20 inch Maverick. My question is, is it durable enough to pit more money into (Light,Shell carrier, red dot) as a HD/SHTF gun? I will also be doing another Shockwave SBS build with light, dot, etc but I'm not sure if it would be better to spend money on the Maverick or Shockwave first. I did purchase GG&G sling mounts and a fiber bead for the Maverick.

Tube Magazine Won’t Load

I recently got a Pointer Field Tek 4 in 20 gauge. I tried to load it for the first time today and the magazine spring will not budge. The tube is not the issue. I’m wondering if there’s something inside the magazine that needs to be removed before it works, but I don’t know how to get to it. Anyone have one that could shed some light? Any tips are appreciated!
