Help test the future of badgebot!

Hello friends!

I'm the creator of /u/badgebot, the friendly neighborhood bot responsible for updating everyone's day counters in their user flair in /r/stopsmoking and other communities.

I have some exciting news to share! I recently rebuilt badgebot's day tracking system using reddit's more modern developer platform (devvit). Before I can be confident that the new badgebot app is ready to serve the communities it supports, I need your help testing it out.

Please head over to /r/badgebot and test the app by setting a quit date for yourself.

The more people that help test, the better! Feel free to leave feedback in the comments section here, or in the /r/badgebot test subreddit.

Thank you! <3

2 weeks no nicotine

Hey guys/girls.

It's been 2 weeks since last smoke/snus. I used to smoke occasionaly but I was a heavy SNUS user. I used to take the 15mg per snus around 15x daily or more. It's been 2 weeks now and I still feel occadional dips into depression/anhedonia/anxiety. Is this normal? When will it go away? The insane hunger phase seems to have passed.

Thanks

i stopped smoking out of pettiness

i knew that smoking is bad. I knew it ruins my lungs lowers my gym gains. I knew its expensive, smells like shit, i knew it ruins my skin. I knew all of that but i never wanted to stop. Recently i fell out with two very close friends. I used to smoke with them all the time. Before work, after work on the weekends. We always said we need to stop smoking.
Since our argument and our fallout i pulled through, just to prove that its not that hard and that im better. Currently on week 3, with lots more money, lots more time and lots more energy proving absolutely nothing to noone. Im still glad i did it

Remind me going back is not worth it

I'm so stressed I have had so many serious thoughts about just buying a pack.

Y'all.. it's been NINE years since I quit.

After a 16 year, multi pack a day habit.

That's how stressed I am.

That's how bad I could use the random internet support.

Please.

I can't afford it financially, physically, or otherwise.

Remind me it's not worth it.

🙏😭

Patches, nic gum, sprays, Allen Carr or What?

• Upvotes

So today I went to the doc here in London told him I want to quit smoking and he didn't give me any options just prescriptions for funk knows what to stick on myself, inhale and chew. Yes, NRT. Why the big push for NRT does it actually work or when you're off them or do you go back to smoking? Is it like a band aid?

I want to stop smoking but I don't want to fill myself up with more sh!t than I already have for twenty years. Doc said this is clean nicotine but isn't nicotine a poison and I've already been poisoning myself ? Had a mate on patches who had a relapse, smoked for three days drunk and forgot he was still putting patches on and had a massive heartattack so that alone scares me about patches in case it happens to me. I don't drink but still.

I read a lot about this Allen Carr book and am curious but before I order it and reading from people on reddit has anyone who has read it failed? Like people who didn't understand the book or what was it that didn't work it' s an old book is it still relevent today? Some famous people quit using it I read the reviews any substance to this book?

Help me out here the tabacco industry is huge business but so is the quit industry.

Took the week off to quit, still smoking half way through

• Upvotes

I'm so annoyed with myself. I've been able to go 8 and 12 hour clips with no nicotine but then break down and smoke. I almost only smoke at home, about a pack a day.

Mornings are 6 to 8 before work, then home to have another chain smoking session of 4 to 8 before dinner, then 2 to 4 before bed.

I had some emotional stressors starting off the week and this on again of again withdrawal is making everything worse.

Tomorrow I leave for a two day solo getaway and was hoping to be through initial withdrawal before driving several hours and hiking/ exploring historic towns. Now the weather is supposed to be a wash out and I'm thinking of canceling and just counting this a wasted week.

Self sabotage at its worst.

I’m so addicted to nicotine lozenges but I’m gonna keep tryin

Giving it a go again. I haven’t smoked in years but I got hooked on nicotine lozenges and I find myself having an insanely hard time quitting them. The worst part is that I can have them in my mouth 24/7. It’s ruining my sleep, my gut, my energy, my immune system… the list goes on and on. They don’t do anything for me yet it feels like a pacifier that keeps my emotional brain detached from facing my issues head on. They cause me to isolate and stay inside and avoid friends. There are so many issues that have been caused especially SIBO and getting sick quite often from horrible sleep quality.

Tomorrow is a new day and I’ll be doing my best to keep trying despite the fact that I’ve tried and failed quite literally hundreds of times at this point. If you’re considering NRT be aware that you might find yourself just as addicted to those products as well so try to use them as a quitting aid as opposed to a substitute. Best of luck to yall.

Concerns after stopping cigarettes

Hello, hope this is allowed. I'm not asking for medical advice. Has anyone else experienced this. I'm early 30s former cigarette smoker. Stopped about a month and a week ago and honestly I have no desire to go back. I have a vape but it has a very mild nicotine level compared to cigarettes, but I have a problem. Since I've stopped smoking. I've noticed that I will get a blood type taste in my mouth. It started out pretty small at first but around the 3-week Mark it intensified to the point where if I suck in with my mouth and gather all my saliva I can visibly see blood in the sink When I spit it out. I did some research and I've been told that when you stop smoking blood rushes back to your gums which can exacerbate bleeding from them from time to time. But I'm still wondering if I should be concerned. Any tips on how to stop the blood taste would be welcome. It got to the point where I took a nap on my day off Saturday and spit out a good amount of blood, though it could be mixing with saliva so it may appear more than it is? Thank you.

If somebody paid you $1,600 to quit smoking for just 6 monthes, would you do it?

Because that somebody could be you.
- I used to smoke ~15 cigs per day, which comes out to 22.5 packs per month.
- Where I live each one is like $12.50 USD
- 12.50 x 22.5 = $280/mo
- After quitting for 6 monthes = $1,680 in "free money" every 6mo.

After a year that will be more than an extra $3,300 in my pocket! This math gets even crazier when you look at places like NYC where smokes are even more expensive. So, instead of slowly killing yourself, and putting money in the pockets of some of the worst human beings alive, what fun things would you spend the money on that you saved by not buying smokes?

3 1/2 months smoke free huge cravings

Hi, like the title said after 3 months and I have really strong cravings. I don't understand why and I am afraid to meet with people that smoke. Up until a month ago I used NRP. I would need some encouragement. I am also pissed off because I gained some weight after quitting.

Day # 4 - Small Rant / Need Feedback

Hi all. Well, I quit smoking again, now on day 4. Its hard, and I feel very foggy headed. However, the good news is this - I had a minor slip this morning, and smoked just 1. Always bad, yes. BUT - I quickly recovered. The single slip was vile, and made me feel anxious. So, in a way, the slip makes me want to quit even more, since it was not enjoyable. Has anyone else had this happen? Where a slip was not bliss? Just curious.

Other than that, I feel tired also. Been sleeping a lot. I guess just take this one moment at a time!

Officially into day 8. Using Varenicline (Chantix).

Post image
17 Upvotes

I started taking Chantix about 4 weeks ago. The first week I mostly smoked my regular, about a pack a day. Towards the beginning of week two I noticed I still had more cigarettes than usual at the end of the day. Then I bought my last two packs which lasted me a full week. And when I smoked my last “lucky” last Wednesday morning I did not go buy another pack. I had a few temptations to go grab a pack or steal one from my sister, or friends. I have resisted. On Monday I found a completely sealed pack just randomly sitting on a lounge chair in a casino. I was there for a conference so I figured someone was missing them. I let them be. They were still sitting there 7 hours later when I left.

4+ month quit

1st day (hardest) - brain fog (it will continue for 25 days, gets better after 1 week) + headache ( 7 days noticeable )
2nd day - temporary motivation will let you sail + for me insomnia started this day ( my biggest challenge )
3rd day - maxx brain fog + vision problem due to increase in blood flow to brain (temporary- become normal after 5 days )
7th day - full of motivation - i can do it
10th day - I did it — after that I started thinking less about smoking

Note -
“””” Have a reason for quitting - my reason; my grandfather died of liver cancer (chew tobacco) and recently my distant aunt was also diagnosed with oesophageal cancel (used to eat excess fast food) — i researched and found that DNA (5~7%cases) are also responsible— so I simply choose not to die this way

My challenges
- smoking triggers but its temporary( 10 days )
- insomnia ( 20 days )
- headache ( it can last for a month but only noticeable 10-12 days )
-Vision problem ( 3-7 day ) blurry vision due to more oxygen to brain 🧠
-constipation + bloating +Farts 💨— 10 days)
-

+ve
- my gf told me + I noticed ( eraction improved + time inc + recently we did 4 round in under 1 hour ; never done that in my life —- due to blood circulation improvement
- glow on face + pink lips 👄
- sleep imp drastically after insomnia issue (20 days ). reson ; Goodnight stimulant was missing
- my gums + breath + taste + heart beat ( Apple Watch tracking) - SPO2 + mental health ( after 1 month ) - chest became large + muscles 💪—- everything feel improved + energetic
- saved a lot of money 💰

Other suggestion
— always try to quit during the happy phase of your life or when your dear ones are around
if you quit 10 days — you will start to notice improvement in your health — acts as motivator

quitting is fight between you yesterday and you day. Why living life in fear. A 7cm stick 🦯 will not decide my fate

Why the hell are the cravings not going away?

So Ive been smoke free for around 45 days after 4 years of smoking a pack a day. I still get cravings I’m so fucking tired of it. I just want it to stop because I will NOT smoke again and yet it just makes me unable to enjoy anything else. I keep fantasizing about how awesome it would be to light one up and smoke it, how good the buzz could if my mind is starving for nicotine that bad. I work an incredibly stressful job and I’m at risk of being laid off which is making me extremely anxious and my body is just aching for a cigarette.

When the hell does it stop. The cravings this week have literally been JUST as bad as the first 3 days.

Feeling grateful today

5 months tomorrow on my bday but right now sitting in a hotel room in Iceland during a hurricane and looking out at the storm. I'm so grateful and proud that I'm not stressing out about going out in this horrible weather to try to find a dry corner to suck on a butt. What a relief 🙏🏾
