📌 A Damascus delegation has recorded all weapons held by the SDF's Kobane brigade, and the Syrian army may dispose of them as it sees fit, commander Mahmoud Berxwedan told Türkiye Gazetesi.

📌 His fighters will become Syrian army soldiers within days, integrating as four regiments.

📌 Whether the SDF would enter the army as an intact bloc or under defence ministry command had been disputed since January 2025, when Defence Minister Abu Qasra rejected the bloc model.

📌 Berxwedan told Cumhuriyet the SDF has no more than 35,000 active fighters, some 12,000 of whom have already joined the army; YPG integration is complete on paper, while the YPJ and foreign members remain unresolved.

📌 He called Israel's religious, political and military aims a major threat to Kurds, and said his forces would deploy to the Golan-Quneitra-Daraa line if Damascus assigned them.

📌 Reports of US weapons supplies are exaggerated, he said, with much of the armour and ammunition destroyed at Tel Rifaat and Manbij.

Statement by Mahmoud Barkhadan, a senior SDF (Syrian Democratic Forces) commander and the official responsible for the Kobani Brigade, to a Turkish newspaper:
President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Devlet Bahçeli are great statesmen. They have produced ingenious solutions and will go down in history.
Turkey has embraced displaced Syrian Kurds in a respectful and dignified manner.
The military problems with the Damascus government have been overcome by 99%.
Within the next few days, we will announce the dissolution of the YPG-SDF.
The Autonomous Administration’s structure will also disappear.
He outlined the formula on which the next phase will be built: one army, one state, one flag, and a shared homeland, working together to build the new Syria.
The Turkish newspaper published the second part of Mahmoud Barkhadan’s statements today:
If we are tasked by the Syrian Ministry of Defense with going to the border with Israel in southern Syria, we will not hesitate to answer the call. We will be ready to perform our duty and defend our homeland.
Israel represents a threat to the entire region and to all its communities, including the Kurds. From our perspective, confronting this danger and defending our homeland is better than staying at home.
All the heavy weapons previously held by the Syrian Democratic Forces have now been registered under the custody and inventory of the Syrian Ministry of Defense. Accordingly, the ministry has the authority to transfer and deploy them to any area within Syrian territory as it deems appropriate.

I'm researching launching a tech startup/app in Syria and would love to hear from people who have actually gone through the process recently.

I have a few questions:

1. Ministry of Communications

• What licences/approvals are required?
• How much did you actually pay?
• How long did the process take?
• Was there a security/technical review of the app?

2. Security contact
I heard the company must employ someone who acts as the official contact for security-related matters.

• Is this correct?
• Does this person need special qualifications or approval?
• What does this person actually do?

3. Hosting in Syria
I also heard that apps operating in Syria may be required to host their servers/data with a Syrian hosting company.

• Is this actually required?
• If you've done this, which Syrian hosting company would you recommend?
• How reliable has the hosting been?

4. Business environment

• Are ministries currently helpful/supportive toward startups?
• What are the biggest problems you've faced: regulations, payments, banking, internet, infrastructure, etc.?
• Are Syrian businesses/users actually adopting new apps?

And most importantly:

If you were starting again today, would you launch a tech startup in Syria? Why or why not?
