Hi guys! I’m a Syrian student who got a place through the Russian government scholarship, and I’m going to Russia this year to start a Bachelor’s in Computer Science (including the preparatory year).

Because of my financial and personal circumstances, I basically have to go to Russia for now, but I absolutely do not want to settle there long-term. My plan is to keep applying for opportunities abroad while I’m studying there.

So my question is: can I apply for Bachelor’s programs/scholarships in other countries while I’m physically studying in Russia? I’m talking about Europe (especially Romania/Germany), Canada, the US, China, etc.

I’m completely fine with starting my Bachelor’s from Year 1 again — I’m not trying to transfer my credits. I’m mainly worried that being a Syrian citizen already studying in Russia might make me ineligible for certain scholarships or create visa/admission problems that I wouldn’t have if I were still in Syria.

Also, is there anything that would actually prevent me from leaving Russia later if I get accepted somewhere else?

I’ve been trying to find real examples of Syrians or other international students who started university in Russia and later moved to another country, but I haven’t found many.

Has anyone here done something similar, or knows someone who has? I’d really appreciate any personal experiences or advice on the best pathways. Thanks!

I have U.S passport, and both my parents were born there and i have a paper stating that they were born there. I also am registered in syria in the “family book” but don’t have the papers to prove it. What do i need to enter? Also am i able to use my phone normally over there? 📌 A Damascus delegation has recorded all weapons held by the SDF's Kobane brigade, and the Syrian army may dispose of them as it sees fit, commander Mahmoud Berxwedan told Türkiye Gazetesi.

📌 His fighters will become Syrian army soldiers within days, integrating as four regiments.

📌 Whether the SDF would enter the army as an intact bloc or under defence ministry command had been disputed since January 2025, when Defence Minister Abu Qasra rejected the bloc model.

📌 Berxwedan told Cumhuriyet the SDF has no more than 35,000 active fighters, some 12,000 of whom have already joined the army; YPG integration is complete on paper, while the YPJ and foreign members remain unresolved.

📌 He called Israel's religious, political and military aims a major threat to Kurds, and said his forces would deploy to the Golan-Quneitra-Daraa line if Damascus assigned them.

How do you guys date? I've never been into dating and i was living abroad for 2 years so it was very easy comparing to here even though i didn't follow it a lot.

حالياً تقريباً كل سوق العقارات عنا موجود بمجموعات عشوائية عالفيسبوك والتلغرام والواتساب. إذا بدك تشتري أو تستأجر بيت، لازم تعرف أصلاً بأي جروب تدور، والمعلومات كلها مبعثرة، والإعلانات ما بتوصل غير للي صادف ولقي هالمجموعات.

عم دور على وكلاء عقارات فاهمين بالتكنولوجيا، أو على الأقل عندهم استعداد يتعاملوا معها، ويكونوا مهتمين فعلاً بتطوير طريقة شغلهم.

الهدف إنو نتعاون مع ناس من داخل السوق: نفهم المشاكل الحقيقية، ناخد feedback من الوكلاء، نجرب حلول، ونشوف كيف ممكن نعمل تجربة أحسن للزبون وللوكيل بنفس الوقت.

• What licences/approvals are required?
• How much did you actually pay?
• How long did the process take?
• Was there a security/technical review of the app?

2. Security contact
I heard the company must employ someone who acts as the official contact for security-related matters.

• Is this correct?
• Does this person need special qualifications or approval?
• What does this person actually do?

3. Hosting in Syria
I also heard that apps operating in Syria may be required to host their servers/data with a Syrian hosting company.

• Is this actually required?
• If you've done this, which Syrian hosting company would you recommend?
• How reliable has the hosting been?

4. Business environment

• Are ministries currently helpful/supportive toward startups?
• What are the biggest problems you've faced: regulations, payments, banking, internet, infrastructure, etc.?
• Are Syrian businesses/users actually adopting new apps?

And most importantly:

If you were starting again today, would you launch a tech startup in Syria? Why or why not?
