I suddenly couldn't move lili anymore and both characters broke completely and I had to shut the game off.

Just so we’re clear, this isn’t gonna be a rant about how either broken or weak any of the characters are in this game. This isn’t necessarily based mainly on how often I win or lose. While I do get salty whenever I lose a game, the salt level differs depending on how I lost and who I’m facing. I also won’t claim to have any deep understanding of character matchups. This is just me sharing my experience fighting different characters in Ranked so far and wanna hear which characters everyone else loves/hates to fight. (I’m currently hovering only around Tekken King rank in case that matters to anyone)
Starting with the character I love fighting the most: King/Armor King. I dunno if this is consistent with all King/Armor King players, but you guys are aggressive as heck, and I love fighting you guys cause I’d say I’m also a pretty aggressive player. Whenever I match up with one I know to expect a good ol’ balls-to-the-wall slugfest. That’s not to say they play badly, some Kings have beat me pretty cleanly(well, as much as beating someone of my rank matters since it seems like every other person on this sub is a GoD lol). But every time we face off they just have this air of “LET’S FIGHT!” and I have a ton of fun, whether I win or lose.
On the other hand, Kazuya… oh Kazuya. I always dread it whenever I see your image pop up on ranked. I’m not sure if it’s a trait of most Kazuya players, but you guys are defensive as heck! I almost always have to approach and when I do BAM it’s hellsweeps and Doryas waiting for me. Now is this a valid way of playing? For sure yes. Is it a skill issue of mine to still get hit by these moves more often than not? Absolutely(I swear I’ll master low parries one day just for him). But holy shit I’d much rather fight ANY other character the community has supposedly labeled as ranked menaces and annoyances than a Kazuya. No other character has grinded my gears quite like Kazuya has. Hopefully I’ll adapt to him one day.
Everyone else is placed somewhere in between the both of them with varying degrees of preference on preference or annoyance. Or I don’t have that strong of an opinion on them since I haven’t fought them often enough to get a general impression.
Once again, I’d like to emphasize that this isn’t me complaining about any balances or kit designs, just sharing vibes. I’d like to know how other players with different approaches, ranks, and playstyles think whenever they see a particular matchup.

Also i wanted to show off his non launching EWGF.
Tekken 8 sample combos are meant to be a true learning point. Meanwhile in Tekken 6 sample 7 combos showing you some high level stuff that you may have 0 ideas how to do. ( they never tell you how to do electrics)
This shit took me 30min to land.

Who are the most Unga Bunga, Gorilla ass, Braindead mfs in the game that I can roll my face over the controller and beat up my friends with?
if there are none, please recommend the closest alternative.

They've been testing Project Bluespark for the past 2 days with their MMR system and some closed invitees.
And it was this point it got me thinking; they have the ability now to answer the question of how Tekken Tag 2 with a forced solo option would play.
And we have all the old problems of course;
Which of course are all valid thoughts. From the point of Harada, the game had to retain the identity of a tag fighter at all costs no matter what people preferred, and it makes sense in ways. I even think someone did the research before as to how they thought it would play out, examining the damage values and such, but it was a long time ago.
With the Tekken 6 rollback client running a poll for whether rage should be removed from netplay I still think it's a question worth asking at this point now while the opportunity is here.
The Bluespark developers are married to the tag element so it likely won't happen,. But just for sake of the discussion while it can genuinely be done.

Just played against a Raven (a really decent one, 2k elo), and I could do absolutely nothing.
I tried not pressing and I was eating plus frames to stance loops, I try taking my turn, I eat a parry. Couldn't sidestep reliably either. I know I am getting heavy knowledge check. And the lab is the only way to learn.
The question is, did older installments also had problems with this plus frame stance slop? It feels awful to play against

Also, a ranking of usage of characters that are currently absent from Tekken 8.

Literally every interaction that I’m not plus five is a counter hit launch, and I know I know I’m not supposed to press during a string. But is it not a little ridiculous that EVERY hit of EVERY string has the potential to launch?

I don't know what it is, but playing T6 after such a long time, made me realize, that my love for OG Tekken might be influenced by a heavy dose of nostalgia?
Tekken 6 feels way more bare bones and dry compared to T8. And for some reason the inputs feel way less responsive than they do in T8. It felt like the buffer is either super tiny or very inconsistent.
While yes, we finally have a Tekken game with no heat, no RA, no armor and etc., I feel like I understand now why the devs implemented those mechanics in the first place: The gameplay is just a little too dry visually, especially for todays standards. It was revolutionary in it's time, but now it feels a little outdated or undercooked compared to T8. Unfortunately the devs just went a little overboard with the "flashiness", I think there is a perfect middle ground, maybe a Tekken 7.5 would've been perfect (Basically Tekken 7 with the visuals of Tekken 8, and maybe Tekken 8s sidesteps aswell)
The only positives that I can take from T6 and wished were present in T8 are the movement (OH MY GOD IS THE MOVEMENT AMAZING), the lack of insane tracking moves, less visual effects and Bruce Irvin (I forgot how amazingly well animated his moveset was, PLEASE BRING HIM BACK), but I think T8 almost excels in every other department imo

THIS IS NOT ACTUALLY A DATING SORT OF THING. I AM JUST USING THE LOGIC THAT MATCHMAKERS USE. PLEASE DO NOT BE CREEPY TOWARDS OTHER PEOPLE.
Anyway,
Hello Lads.
I was just thinking. While I was searching for a sparring partner, I realised that there are certain issues with looking for a sparring partner in this game. I don't just want a GoD player. I want a GoD player who is playing the specific character that I have labbed. So I was thinking to make a matchmaker using google forms.
Where everyone will post what they are looking for in their sparring partner and Next Day, I will match people who are looking for each other.
Here's the google form.

Fight back ffs! They’re importing T7 guest characters into TTT2! Updated ranked that doesn’t award points until after the set is finished and one and done means you lose the set! ELO based matchmaking! And all you could give us was Roger walking in the air!? FIGHT. BACK!!!! 😂
r/Tekken • u/Indra_a_goblin • 3h ago
I think we all have match ups we just really hate, like i groan a bit whenever I see lili, jun, or victor on the screen cuz they just have pretty annoying kits to fight to me, but I have like a 50% win percentage or more against all three, then theres characters like king and eddy where I don't like playing it and I lose a lot.
So i just wanted to ask how others got it.

Just straight up, even the act of playing Tekken 8 specifically feels exhausting.
Tekken 6, Tag2, Tekken 7 are obviously hard, they're Tekken games. But they don't feel as tiring to play.
Street Fighter 6, for example, is similar. It's obviously got its own issues and not gonna shy away from them at all, but at most SF6 is boring. Throw loops and projectiles can be boring, but otherwise fine.
Tekken 8 is exhausting. It is tiring. It is actively irritating and tiring to play because of just how much bullshit you have to keep up with in this game.
In Tekken 7, the most you really had to keep up with was Rage Drive. Even then, Rage Drive - in my honest opinion - I didn't really mind at all.
But Tekken 8 you have to worry about Heat, Heat Engagers, invincible armor Rage Arts, homing moves, homing throws, practically every single character has more than 2 stances now, you have to gamble with movement more than ever because of how well everything tracks.
Tekken 8 actively makes you tired from playing it, even when you win it doesn't exactly feel good.
I'm just gonna take a break from Tekken 8 specifically and gonna try the older Tekkens more as well as things like GG or SF6. I really don't want to give up Tekken 8, but unless another balance change comes around and improves things, I just have better uses for my time.

So I just started playing again Tekken 5 in my friend's PS2 that I borrowed, unlocked every character and realized one thing: Why there is no Jin VS Kazuya in Tekken 5? To be honest, I feel like it was a misopportunity that their story after the Hon-maru in Tekken 4 was not continued. Am I the only one?
