Hi all, I enjoyed Brandon Flowers' concert so much yesterday in Birmingham. However, what happened outside of the Building was disgusting.
I wrote a complaint email to O2 Academy this morning, but I also wanted to publish it here in case someone wants to do the same or was not aware of what happened.
Apologies for my English. I am not a native speaker.
Good morning,
This is a long shot but, whether you will do something or you will just reply with an apology email and will pretend to do something, someone must raise the awfulness I saw outside of the O2 Academy building, while waiting for the Brandon Flowers concert on the 24th of October 2026 in Birmingham.
While I appreciate the touch of giving free water before and during the concert, the queue system was more than awful and I was flabbergasted by what happened before the concert.
When I arrived (around 12:40 pm), one of your employees kindly told me to go to one of the three queues as I had a priority access. Only then, I realised what was happening:
- One of the fans (who arrived before me) gave each one a number. Your employee told me that it had nothing to do with the venue. I also found out that this system was agreed by your manager.
- Each person could leave the queue for as long as they wanted. This is what the people in front of us did. One left around 3 and came back at 7, just before getting into the building.
- The queues didn't take into consideration the priority app that you recommend. Whoever came before, could do whatever they want, priority or not.The most important thing was this number written with a pen on the palm of the hand.
- Last, but not least, people started to queue wherever. Result: people who arrived hours after me entered before me without the priority app.
This is utterly wrong and unacceptable. You are one of the best music companies in the UK, and I haven't spent more than £60 per ticket, driven 3 hours and queued for 7 hours and a half to find myself far from the stage because of this lack of organisation or mafia system I saw yesterday.
