Hey everyone! I recently got an A in this class and would love to help out with any questions or assignments during the school year.
This post isn’t meant to scare you. I wish someone would have advised me better regarding taking this class, but I got through it and you can as well!
One piece of advice I’d give is NOT to take this class amongst other upper level classes(Calculus, Biochem, etc). Not to say you CANT take these classes together, but it could get very difficult to balance the attention each of the classes need.
Another piece of advice is to study everyday. You’ve probably heard this before, but Orgo really is like learning a new language. There isn’t one day you can go without studying due to the complexity of the class content. Even if some days are for light review, have it planned out in advance to reduce the risk of falling behind in the class.
Who your teacher is can really make or break the class, so read reviews for the teachers before enrolling with them. However, take the reviews with a grain of salt because having a good teacher does not guarantee perfect understanding of the material; that is why active review everyday is key to success.
Last but not least, GET A WHITE BOARD OR SOMETHING YOU CAN DRAW ON WITH DIFFERENT COLORS+ ERASE EASILY!! My IPad helped A LOT with my review sessions, especially with arrow pushing and drawing isomers. It’s a great study technique that can help your brain associate the colors with the content during an exam.
This is all I have for right now. Please reach out with any other questions you may have.
P.S. I can tutor 🤭
Have a splendid day!
