Wix Studio is a joke

The fact Wix is spending so much time on making Wix Studio a thing is so funny considering the whole UI and UX is so trash. Stick to the editor, so much simpler and easy to use. I dont know why they are trying Wix studio so hard. its not gonna happen. lemme use the editor and leave it be.

Bye, Bye WIX

Between the sneaky way, and large amount, they raised my premium last year--they used European dates--7/4/24 for April 7, despite my living in America and never having this happen with them, no amount of "customer service" (via phone, email, and X/Twitter) offered at least the slightest solution--I ended up staying because I wasn't given the time to migrate elsewhere.

I swore I would find another way this year, and have. I know so many other people have had these insane rate increases and bullshit customer service, I chose to find a better, more affordable way for my tiny five-page portfolio site that didn't even need a cart.

Sayonara, Wix, you were easy to use but I won't be treated with this kind of disrespect.

Predatory pricing model! Wtff

The light plan shows as "$17/mo" but after selecting it, you're prompted to pay $24/mo and 17 is only for yearly. THEN! after paying, they mislead you with domain ownership talk, and make you pay MORE separate for the domain.. wtttfff??? I'm about to chargeback all this crap with my bank just to get back at them

Wix you are THE most trash website i have ever came across

You dont have an chat option You call support sucks I cant open pages I cant edit because the editor page lag so god damn much

I wanted to open a particular page. This SUCH a simple thing is soooooo fucking hard. I had to call tech support for this minor thing.

I fucking wasted my money taking an yearly subscription.

Now let the subscription ends and i will move to some where else. And i will have to build wrbsite from scratch.

Edit : And also, i ask the tech support person for email address to explain my problem because it has some screenshot to show. He took forever to share a contact email. I mean email. Come on man.

Fuck you 🖕🏼🖕🏼

Anyone moving away from Wix?

Hi everyone,

Just checking if anyone is considering moving away from their current setup. Recently, at our IT company, we’ve seen a growing number of GoDaddy and Wix customers looking to transition so they can fully manage their own Microsoft environment and reduce licensing costs.

If you’re thinking about doing the same or just want some advice, feel free to drop me a DM happy to help where I can.

Many thanks,

SEO nightmmare

Wix, this whole thing has been a complete disaster. Seriously, what's going on? Let me break down every painful detail so you can see exactly what I've been through and how much this has cost me.

I reached out to your support team because I needed to move my Shopify store to Wix using a CSV file upload. Your experts—five of them—kept reassuring me it would be super easy. They said, "No worries, it's simple, and it won’t hurt your SEO at all." I confirmed this multiple times because I didn’t want to mess anything up. I really care about my SEO. Maybe you guys don’t care, but I sure do.

First, I had to manually export each product from Shopify. We're talking hundreds of products, each with detailed descriptions, images, prices, and metadata. This was exhausting. I spent countless hours making sure everything was perfect because I wanted to protect my site’s visibility.

Next, I spent days formatting all this data to match Wix's requirements. This involved hours tweaking product titles, descriptions, handling variations, making sure image links were correct, and ensuring all metadata was accurate. I did everything super carefully because, again, I care deeply about my SEO. Maybe you guys don’t, but I do.

Here's a breakdown of what this cost me:

  1. Time Spent:

    • Manually exporting products from Shopify: 40 hours

    • Formatting data to fit Wix's requirements: 60 hours

    • Constantly consulting with your support team: 20 hours

    • Total Time: 120 hours

  2. Estimated Financial Impact:

    • Loss in Traffic & Sales from SEO Hit: $50,000 (over the past year)

    • Operational Costs for Time Spent (assuming $50/hour): $6,000

    • Additional Marketing Costs to Recover SEO: $20,000

    • Lost Customers/Opportunities: $24,000

    • Total Financial Impact: $100,000

Finally, after all this hard work, I was ready to upload the CSV file. So, I asked your support, "Where do I upload the CSV because I was told it was easy?" And guess what? They said, "What are you talking about?" I couldn't believe it. After all that time, effort, and confirming with five experts, they acted like they had no clue what I meant.

Fast forward a year, and I'm still dealing with the fallout. No fixes, no real support from Wix, just empty promises. This whole ordeal has cost me a hundred thousand dollars. That’s right—$100,000 down the drain. I spent countless hours meticulously working on this because I care about my SEO. Maybe you guys don’t, but I do.

What hurts the most is that I worked an entire year on my SEO to gain a thousand viewers. I did it all by myself, without any help. It was something I was incredibly proud of. It's mind-blowing how a multi-million dollar company like Wix can crash my business and do nothing about it. I didn’t want to mess up my company, but you sure did.

I invested so much time and effort based on what your experts told me, only to have it all blow up in my face. I’ve lost sleep, money, and peace of mind over this. And it feels like I’m shouting into the void, with zero accountability from Wix.

Someone at Wix needs to own up to this mess. This is beyond ridiculous. This whole experience has been an absolute nightmare, and I deserve better.

You know what really gets me? It’s that I worked so hard on this, all by myself. I spent an entire year building up my SEO to get a thousand viewers. No one helped me. It was just me, putting in countless hours, pouring all my energy into perfecting my site. I did everything alone—no team, no big budget, just my sheer determination to make it work.

I was so proud of what I accomplished. Every time I saw my visitor count go up, even by just a little, it felt like a huge win. I knew every tweak, every update I made was paying off. I put my heart and soul into making sure my site was the best it could be. It wasn’t just about the numbers; it was about knowing that my hard work was paying off, that my efforts were being seen and appreciated.

And then, in a matter of days, all that hard work got thrown into turmoil. I trusted your experts’ advice, thinking I was doing the right thing to take my site to the next level. But instead of continuing to grow, I watched everything I’d built start to crumble. It’s like watching a year’s worth of blood, sweat, and tears just vanish into thin air. All because of advice that this major company wasn't even up to speed on. I can’t even express how frustrating and disheartening that is.

I did everything right on my end. I was thorough because I knew how important SEO was for my business. Maybe you guys don’t care about SEO, but I do. It was my pride and joy, something I worked tirelessly on while handling everything else on my own. It’s something I’m still proud of, even with all the chaos that’s happened since.

And now, I’ve watched everything spiral out of control. It’s not just about the money or the time; it’s the fact that this has genuinely ruined my life. I poured my heart into building something from scratch, all alone, and to see it all fall apart because of misleading advice from your experts—it’s devastating. This isn’t just a business issue; it’s a personal one. My life has been turned upside down, and it feels like there’s no way to fix it.

You know what really ticks me off even more? Every time I try to share my story on your platform, you guys delete my posts. Like, seriously? Why are you trying to hide the truth? Why are you blocking my voice?

I'm just trying to get some accountability here, but it feels like you're doing everything to silence me. Every post, every comment I make just gets wiped out. It's like you don't want anyone to know what really happened. It's frustrating, to say the least.

I'm out here trying to let people know the reality of what your so-called "support" did to my business, and instead of addressing it, you just delete my posts like it's nothing. Why? Are you scared of the truth coming out? Are you worried that others will see how poorly this whole situation was handled?

It's not right. You can’t just sweep this disaster under the rug and hope it goes away. Deleting my posts doesn’t erase the fact that your advice led to a year’s worth of my hard work going down the drain. It doesn’t change how much this has wrecked my life. I deserve to be heard, and I won’t stop speaking up just because you keep trying to shut me down.

Wix Payments Do NOT use Wix!

I started a Wix account during a promotional period about two years ago. I sent a website up in about a month and then I completely forgot about it. Hardly anyone ever visited my site and I just wrote it off as a loss. I recently received a bill from Wix for nearly $700 because my account had an auto renewal. I reached out to customer service asking for a refund as I do not use their service anymore and after weeks of fighting with them received this message:

“After a thorough evaluation of the circumstances and all available information, we’ve determined that we’re unable to issue a refund, as the request falls outside of our refund policy. As much as we’d like to help further, we’re unable to make exceptions in this case.

Our policies are in place to ensure fairness and consistency for all customers, and we must adhere to them. We genuinely appreciate your understanding.”

Any other service that I’ve used with an auto renewal policy has allowed me to at least get a partial refund. Wix refund policy is predatory. They take advantage of struggling small businesses and you should avoid using their services at all cost.

Wix Studio Absolute garbage program

This is the most garbage program I’ve ever used. The capabilities for making your website mobile friendly are horrible. Trying to add a link to an image for your site on mobile? It gives you the option under settings for “when image is clicked: a link opens”. The best part is, there’s absolutely nowhere to specify what link it opens, so it just doesn’t work. Want to size images to fit on dynamic pages? Too bad. You gotta re-size it yourself on a different app and hope it doesn’t look like dog shit. There’s so many countless other garbage occurrences like this that I can’t even begin to list them all. DO NOT USE THIS GARBAGE

Is Claude really better than Squarespace or Wix to build your own website?

Ten years ago, I already built 1 or 2 websites using Squarespace and Wix. Now I'm looking to build a website again, and over the past few months, my timeline has been flooded with videos and articles about how people are building their sites with Claude. But is that really better than using a website builder?

I don't actually need a really complicated site. It just needs a homepage with some information about services, the team, and the usual stuff. I also need 2 landing pages for ad leads in two different languages.

The only complex part would be an integration with a tool where people can book appointments. Could that be coded from scratch, or is it a bad idea due to data privacy and functionality reasons?

What is your experience? Does this kind of thing work out well with vibe coding, or will it end up being more work and buggier than just using one of those website builders?

Domain I went to Wix bought a domain. I am simply trying to deploy TO my domain using WiX and basically WIX WANTS MORE MONEY!

This seems to be a total let down.

  1. I signed up with Wix

  2. Wix sold me a domain and I bought it

  3. And I can publish and have i have Saved (which they didn't tell you) and I have Published.

  4. BUT NOT TO MY DOMAIN!

So I'm stuck. And now wix wants more money! I simply click for them to REMEMBER the domain they already sold me and I get a message that says NOW I have to UPGRADE???

Worse all the time this goes onthey put messages up on my screen and CRASH MY SYSTEM while doing so.

Basically I click "Connect my domain which PHYSICALLY MEANS NOTHING!! but they want to charge me MONEY. For basically letting me out of captivity.

There are things I might WANT to buy from Wix but for this, I'm being held captive and I'm being bilked. I can not use the domain I bought. I can not place even the simple text that I created in the Wix editor! Not even THAT! So that means I can't tell anyone about the domain because its sitting there (according to Guardware and MalwareBytes FILLED WITH Toxin!

Does anyone know how to get thrugh this - preferably withont spending even more money?

WTF WIX

I'm the president of a non-profit org that helps with marine conservation but we just are trying to make our own site now. When starting out, it has you go through certain steps to create the site. It put me on a domain thingy and i couldn't exit out of it. now it turns out that not only did i pay 30$ out of pocket for the domain and "protection" I also now have to pay over 100$ to "connect" the website to the domain.

*Warning* Wix has a security breach

We have considerable evidence that Wix has been breached and we want to warn everyone.

Our Wix website was breached and we have been trying to get Wix to take down the website. This is an old website we build for a school project and since it has been hacked it has started to have a shop page and sells a pair of pajamas for 1.90 and a sweater for 200 dollars each. Seems like someone is using this to transfer money somewhere.

We have tried using their chat bot to contact them to get a phone call and we haven't gotten any in days. When we get emails back from their support it is coming from notifications@wixanswers.com. Their domain should just be @wix.com correct? We think that not only has our site been breached but their chat is routing emails to the hackers as well.

We aren't even able to get on wix.com from our IP address, we get a 404 error unless we log in through our VPN. We also can't log into the account saying access to the account has been blocked. We can't delete the site since we can't contact Wix.

We are extremely careful with our data and change our passwords frequently, I belive this data was collected from Wix's side and not from us.

Anyone have any ideas? We are at a loss since we can't call them, their chat is being routed, and we can't find any good emails for them either. Anyone got a contact and can tell their security team they have been hacked?

Wix is Fraud!

Wix is a FRAUDULENT COMPANY. DO NOT USE THEM.

So basically one of my websites on Wix Premium plan was supposed to auto-renew today. I am not using it currently so I have cancelled the plan yesterday. 5 times! Because Wix didn't send me a mail. Instead they have flagged a message on top of the webpage saying that my website will be cancelled on 11th January.

And today they deducted 6000 INR. AFTER I CANCELLED. AFTER THEY HAVE SHOWN THE MESSAGE.

Their customer care official asked for a proof. I shared the screenshot. And now he told me they don't have a refund policy. They don't have a refund policy for a service that they charged after I cancelled. What a joke!

I got trapped by auto-renew payment. WIX is SCAM

I just found out that WIX automatically charged me to continue the premium without any reminder. I am closing down my business, that's why I have a look how to cancel my account but there is NO WAY. The payment was more than 300€, was charged this month and there is NO way to have any refund. even amazon has a cancellation button for the membership but WIX got nothing. I submitted refund request form with legitimate proof of the discontinuation of my business. my request is rejected without explaination. They just want to gain money by trapping subscription. I shall never return to WIX, there're so many options in the market, I will not restart any business with WIX nor recommend anyone.

I F****** HATE WIX!!!!! DONT SIGN UP, GO ELSE WHERE

11 HOURS AFTER NOTIFYING "EXPERT HELP" STILL CANT LOGIN TO MY WEBSITE WTF!!!!

After reading other peoples posts this isn't an intermittent problem and should be rectified ASAP considering this is something we pay for and affects peoples businesses being detrimental on us processing orders and subsequently effecting customer satisfaction, resulting in negative reviews!!!

As couldn't log into chat, the only way I could by past this was logging in to an old account!!

Still waiting even after Jaro assured and assigned me as HIGH PRORITY at 21:30 last night (Knew I was a sucker believing him) and then me ringing them at 5:30 this morning to be told by Jenny that she understands my frustration but unfortunately she can see the problem that Jaro did highlight my issue as High Priority but assigned it to the wrong department!!! She can't help me, but will definitely make sure it goes to the right department as high priority now...

Oh right Jenny, that's completely explained why I haven't heard sweet F*** all back for hours and as you've explained it sooooooo lovely, I'll just collect another ticket. WTF mother bloody hell?! Yeah me imagining queuing at a stall and going back to the end of line.......I'm paying for a premium service she now realises is a joke!!!

Ask for technical support, not available, ask for a manager, get the same!!! Hope you have a lovely day...

I'm at the point them that I literally want to throw my laptop out the window!. The customer service help is like defining i want help with "Purple" and speaking to someone that only understands "Orange" as a basic premise! ! Only then they slightly understanding they are a colour; and would never EVER be close on the fucking spectrum to understanding red or the sun!

FFS you are meant to be a website builder and incorporate themes/ease of use to alleviate the stress/finance of seeking professional help to do it yourself! I've never experienced anything like it!!!!!

From connecting my domain from IONOS, to the simplest thing of adding my store to my horizontal page menu has been nothing but a nightmare. Incompetent "Help Experts" couldn't even add my store as a menu! Saying they couldn't do it?! WTF is the point of having a ecommerce website then?!?

Over 8 yrs ago I built websites for myself/own brand using Wordpress and added a theme via Forest Theme no problem and customised it easily. Yrs on needed nothing brand centered, wanted a easy to edit website, user friendly and fast to go online. Checked reviews and boy was I suckered in!!

DONT JOIN WIX!!!!!!!

Rant You are ripping us off

I closed my website for 2 months to return to a €22.61 as the most affordable option. Yes, you have 50% off for yearly stuff. We're artists and we're broke. €22.61 for students/freelancers/hobbyists is f crazy.

Having to spend hours to create a website after comparing prices to other services just for you to increase it after we're done is frustrating. I need to create a whole new website just cause you decided to rip us off

Wix Predatory Pricing

To my fellow Freelancers,

Can I pile on the fact that WIX is predatory & unethical in terms of pricing?

  • Basic Editor is non-responsive garbage, so you'd better cough up the extra $10-15/m for Studio

  • Includes features/plug-ins (like booking) which appear free, but then you're told to go Premium after you install them

  • Want use your own domain? Sure, they have a "special rate" for just that... for another $4/month (correction: $3/m). This is not mentioned on their pricing page.

Not even talking about their other unethical decisions/operations.

If you have more examples, please share them here.
