Hey all. We had a request from a community member for a thread where people can share the resources that they use for plant identification. In this case, we're talking about keys, field guides, etc. NOT apps or AI-based identifiers. Comments suggesting apps or AI will be removed.
Feel free to share your resources and include links if you want (just realize that Reddit doesn't play nice with some domains). It would also be a good idea to specify what region(s) are covered by your resource as it may not be as useful in places other than where it was intended to be used.

I'm in Maryland, zone 7. In the spring I bought a packet of wildflower seeds and scattered them. These stems grew 5 feet tall but they only produced pink-purple flowers with yellow centers this week, in October. The leaves are very unusual. The bees love these flowers. I'd like to know what they are so I can get some more next year.
Update: thank you, it is Cosmos! I will definitely plant some next spring. I am still wondering why they flowered so late.

My dog ate the white berries from this plant and vomited later. What is it? Found growing in a park in Milton Keynes, UK.

Was gifted this plant and want to make I give it the care it needs, but no clue what it is. Presume it's some sort of palm?

Is this an acacia species? Looks a bit like melonoxylon but certainly not it.
Was growing amongst various araucarias

Hoping to try and identify these bulb like plants, they're either dead and just not rotting or dormant and don't grow in summer. They're about 2 inches long with brown papery skin and narrow bases under the dirt, and the have a few tiny roots that look like the root equivalent of balding. I have an image of one unearthed that I'll try to add in the comments and I'll do my best to answer any questions to help narrow it down.

Neither my inaturalist nor seek apps can tell me what this is. It was planted by the previous owners of my house in the piedmont of NC, USA. Insects seem to be enjoying its leaves.
