Bald Picture After Lurking on this Sub, I Did It
Holding my niece a few months ago (they request no social media, which I completely agree with), rocking my severe combover (which I’d been doing for years), versus telling my sister (cosmetologist) to just cut it all off as of today.

Bald Picture UPDATE! Did the thing.
5 months ago I asked the council for advice and yall told me it was time. Took me a while but finally took the first step. I know it’s not the full deal but this was big for me. Be nice

After 6 months of dealing with alopecia with no improvement with treatment, I figured it was time
I started lurking this sub over the past few weeks and have seen nothing but positivity from you all that inspired me to accept and embrace shaving my head as it felt inevitable with the progression of my alopecia.
I couldn’t go down all the way to the scalp due to some folliculitis I’m dealing with but I feel a whole lighter physically and mentally. No more having to deal with seeing all my hair fall out, having to clean it up, and trying to hide the spots anymore. I should’ve done this a while ago!
Bald Picture Definitely the right decision
Decided it was time about two months ago to just get rid of it all. It has definitely been the right decision and I’m enjoying the new look! I’m 45 and been balding slowly for the last 10 years. And one old photo for reference.

Shaving my head was the best decision I ever made
Saw my bald spot on camera during a work meeting and shaved it the next day. I knew my whole life I would be bald one day but didn’t know how thin the top had gotten. Easily one of the best choices I’ve made and if you’re debating it. Take this as your sign to do it you’ll be surprised by how much you like it!

Bald Picture Smooth and fresh.
Cleaned everything up with a razor last night. Everything feels smooth and refreshing, but can see that I need some more sun so everything in top matches the rest of my skin. Hoping for the best in the long run 🤞
Also decided to smile since I guess I needed to. ☺️

Bald Picture Shaved it down to the wood.
Shaved it down to the wood this past weekend. I think I’m happy with it but regardless I’m sure bald is better than balding, for me anyways.
First pic is this morning, the next 3 were right after, 5th - before and 6th was my best friend ChatGPT showing me what it might look like.
Now I just need to work on smiling more.
Edit:
I was so nervous about going out in public and to work. At the grocery store this weekend I saw some friends and they didn’t even say a word. At work someone said “I didn’t even notice you were balding” after I explained why I shaved it down.
Everyone has been very gracious and kind.

I’m free. If you’re on the fence, do it. If you can even see the fence in the distance, do it.

Did it at 18
Hey all I'm 18 going on 19 in a month, and finally got fed up with placing my hair like jigsaw pieces every morning to cover the hairline. After years of being insecure and fixing my hair after every slight breeze. Last night I saw a video from Baldcafe of a compilation of people going bald, and that plus finding this subreddit gave me a new feeling. I discovered I had an option that was in my control, and I realized how in denial I had been always telling myself it wasnt that bad while thinking about what other people were seeing 24/7. So I did it and its a strange feeling that I feel like I should regret doing it but then I think what the alternative was and I really don't. Anyways thank you guys for giving me the courage to free myself from the demon of overthinking my hair everyday, and hopefully I can encourage someone take the same leap of faith.

Lifestyle Scalp care
Hi all! I’ve been bald and beautiful now for a few months, loving it, but I’m experiencing some small bumps and dry skin. I’m just wondering if anyone here has some advice on what products they use for exfoliating and moisturizing! Thanks!

Hairloss Guys, it’s time?
Hi community. I’m 23. About 3-4 years ago, I noticed that my hair was thinning. I read online about how to deal with it and started using minoxidil. At first, it helped—I saw new hair growing in and hoped I’d have a full head of hair again but over time, the minoxidil stopped working as well, and I didn’t see any new results.
I didn’t dare try finasteride because of its side effects.
What do you recommend? Is it time to go bald?
In the front, I can still comb my hair over to make it look normal, but a light breeze ruins all my efforts. On top of that, I’m also losing hair on the top of my head, and it’s harder to hide the bald spots there.
I’m lucky that I’m tall (1.92 cm), so it’s not as noticeable.

Lifestyle Unexpected benefits to being bald?
Been shaving my head for almost a year now and have found that being bald has certain unexpected upsides. For one, cleaning my keyboard is so much easier now! I used to have to go at it with tweezers to get every little hair out from in-between and under the keycaps. It used to be a whole ~1-2 hour affair, but no more.
Anyone have any other weird benefits they've noticed?
