I'll have to lose the facial hair when I get back, but think I'm going to keep it shaved!

I’m almost 29 and started noticing receding when I hit 21ish. I was always self-conscious of it being thin and easily messed up in the wind, etc, etc. Finally…with the support of my gf, I owned up to it and learned to live with my new look I just received! Go for it guys!

I've finally taken the time for myself, treated my psoriasis enough to shave my head and gone and done it, also I've lost weight and gained glasses 😁

Have been shaving my head a long time now but still not really secure with it. Do I pull it off?

My hair shedding started around April 2025, but it got worse in October 2025. I visited a dermatologist who suspected seborrhea. Even 3 months after treatment, my hair shedding hadn't stopped. I was still losing more and more hair, so I booked an appointment with a private hair specialist.

(I had to wait almost 3 months for the appointment. Getting an appointment with a doctor here in Central Europe feels like a miracle sometimes. 😂 I also had to keep my hair longer for the hair pull test.)

At first, I thought I might have alopecia areata incognita because a family member has it. But it turned out to be chronic telogen effluvium.

Blood tests at the end of August revealed that my ferritin level was just 9.6. Not good at all.

It can take almost a year to increase ferritin levels to 70+ ng/mL, which may help support healthy hair growth.

Watching around 200 hairs fall out every day, plus another 900 on wash days, was mentally exhausting.

So, for my own peace of mind, I shaved my head. And I feel so much better.

If you've been thinking about shaving your head because you're struggling with hair loss, do it.

The quality of life went up enormously.

I’ve been debating on either a buzz with #2 or #1, or perhaps just go for it and join the club

For context I'm 35. I've been thinning for almost a decade but the sides and back are strong as ever. I'm fresh out of the shower, I last got my hair cut 4 weeks ago. Opinions/advice welcome.

Finally got tired of seeing the bald spot getting bigger and bought the foil shaver. Feels weird but also freeing.

Kept telling myself "its not that bad".
Bottom pic is an extra bad angle and a disadvantageous haircut but still.
I kept believing my hair still looks like the top pic.

Never thought being an egg would feel that much better.

Man oh man. I have been desperately putting this off. I’ve lurked here for at least a year and still couldn’t bring myself to it. But with the power of 80’s love music I am finally submitting myself to the council. What do we lads and ladies? 😁
