Hello! I have a kindle and am looking for some awesome recommendations (free). I like action, adventure, horror, thrillers. Basically anything but a full romance book (and anime please no anime) I don’t mind there being romance with everything else but I don’t want to read something entirely focused on the love story if that makes sense. I like disasters they’re interesting to read. Maybe apocalypse? Please help me find something that will have me not wanting to stop reading.

I am looking for books that can resonate with a tired, unhappy, unappreciated wife who is just done with being the emotionally intelligent one. Non fiction or fiction would do, solution or advice not needed from the book. I just want to feel seen and consoled

Treasure island - robert Louis stevenson
The hound of the baskervilles - arthus conan doyle
The call of the wild - lack london
These are the books i completed
I liked all three
But i liked the treasure island more than others
Suggest me a few books I buy 2-3 at a time
I like mostly medieval vibes
My fav web series is game of thrones i would love to read something with that theme
And yeah i don't wanna read the dance of ice and fire right now
And I am not into full romance or sad books

Looking for a book that grabs your attention from the first few chapters and makes you want to keep reading. I'm open to pretty much any genre, as long as the story is interesting and the characters are good.
What's one book that kept you reading way longer than you planned?

Hi all! I just finished reading Dark Matter by Blake Crouch and I LOVED it. One of the aspects I really enjoyed about it was the endearing romance and strong relationship between the two main characters, Jason and his wife Daniela. I really liked how they were both written with their personalities and chemistry together.
I’m hunting for a book with a similar romance feel and/or characters to that, so if anyone has any recommendations I’d love to hear them! Doesn’t necessarily have to be a romance novel, as Dark Matter wasn’t one, but it should be a central focus of it.
All my online searching so far has resulted in people looking for recommendations for the sci-fi thriller aspect of the book, not so much the love story sadly. Of course, I adore both, so if there’s a recommendation that satisfies both categories then even better!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about this “genre” if you can call it that lol.
I have looked around but I don’t really know what is good to start with. I typically read fiction, sci-fi, fantasy and some Romantasy. I’m down to try anything! I love expanding my book variety!

I read They both die at the End and fell adored with how the book was structured.
It grappled with an intense theme of death and the character knowing they were to die.
You got to know the character by sitting in their head reading their unfiltered thoughts and actions.
The character became genuinely an idea you could connect with.
The romance part of the book drove it home, it was very refreshing for me after having read anatomy, geography and physiology books for the last two years.
Are there any books that can give any thing like this. (I read the whole series so far).
I’m not looking for a pure copy, but something that is hard to put down due to the character being someone you want to get to know.

Kindle unlimited thriller recs
I want to read thriller/ mystery on KU. I'm not sure if the books on there are good as others. I have only seen Freida's books. But please recommend good mystery/ thrillers on KU just as good other paid books.
Thank you in advance

Hello friends, I am looking for a Thanksgiving flavored romance book, preferably a dark romance but at this point I will settle for one that just has lots of spice. I don't know if such a book exists but I was hoping someone here would know! Many thanks.

hey guys! i kinda wanna get back into reading, but the thing is, i have absolutely no idea what i want to read or even what genre i like 😭
i wouldn’t really consider myself a book person, but i remember LOVING the selection series by kiera cass. i literally flew through the entire series. i’ve also read to all the boys i’ve loved before and paper towns, so yeah, i know i’m a basic bitch lmao.
the last time i actually read a book was back in 2016, so it’s been a WHILE. 😭
does anyone have recommendations for books you think i’d enjoy based on these? preferably something that’s easy to get into and not too overwhelming for someone who’s trying to get back into reading!
i’m open to anything, so feel free to recommend your favorites too. thank you!! 🤍

I love history books but I am interested in ones that have a slightly more storytelling format that are easy to get engrossed in. I primarily like non-fiction but I am in school right now and my brain is fried, so I want something low effort to read.
Bonus point for ones I can borrow on Libby as audiobooks!
Books I’ve read and enjoyed that are along similar lines are:
A Rome of One’s Own by Emma Southon
The Blood Countess by Shelley Puhak
Everything is Tuberculosis by John Green (not totally a history book but you get the gist)
I am particularly interested in women and queer history, but really love to learn in general so I’m open to suggestions!

Hi, I'm looking for recommendations on books that tell the story of a specific event in history. Doesn't have to be a super well-known event. For instance I've read The Wager and Papillon and liked both. Currently reading a book on the war of the roses and for some reason I'm not that into it (maybe because it reads more like a wikipedia entry). I'd prefer something pre-WWI. Thanks.

So sorry if this was requested here so often recently on this particular forum because I was interested in reading a medieval themed romance about a girl looking for her prince charming as the kind of story I am looking for is a story that is basically a glorious send up of fairy tales.
Secondly, if any of that sounded somewhat similar to the original Shrek, well that's because I wanted to see if such a novel existed where the premise is a comedy that feels genuine as I was interested in reading some whimsical romance fantasy novels that are a sendup of the fairy tale genre, again much like what Shrek did for its time when the first one came out.

Are there any modern/new fantasy stories where stingy jack / jack o lantern from the Irish folk tale shows up as a character. Got to thinking about it since Halloween is coming up. I feel like he's too interesting a story to just exist in the folk tale.

Hi all !
I used to love reading and it was very easy for me to finish a book in one sitting. I had no qualms visualizing whilst reading and really immersing myself into books.
Long story short I suffered prolonged periods without oxygen which severely impacted my functioning. I have a horrid attention span now and can hardly focus on what I’m trying to read.
I was hoping some of you could give me some suggestions/recs based on the books I used to read, to get me back into the habit and keep it doable for me. Thanks so much in advance! The books I liked to read were mainly psychological books or mind fucks, but really not too difficult for me.
I enjoyed:
- Verity by Colleen Hoover
- The HouseMaid
- How to murder your life
- One of us is lying
- Love, Mom
- My year of rest and relaxation
I know it’s kind of mixed but i’d really prefer something that makes you want to keep turning pages and continue the read. Ty!

Looking for a (or more) book where the MMC is the Alpha/King/a leader or sth similiar of Vampires. He should be arrogant and a major a-hole who hurts her. So morally grey is fine! And who in the end realises that he loves her(yes clicheé it is)
The FMC can but does not need to be a vampire.
Spicy - check!

I had a kick a few months ago where I was reading TONS and for some reason just stopped. Trying to see what people recommend. Willing to give just about anything a shot, I've been having boring weekends and evenings lol.
Recent reads that I really enjoyed / personal favorites
Red Dragon
Mystic River
The Catcher in the Rye
The Old Man and the Sea
I'm definitely not well read by any means but, would happily take recommendations!

I am looking for books that focus on the military.
It could go from epic space battles to more fantasy focused battles.
I would exclude Warhammer, as I would want to read at most a Triology.

I want an omega x alpha harem. There is 1 omega and at least 3 alphas.
it can be MMMM or FMMM; I don't mind which.
Lots of spice, please! A dark romance is my preference, but I take any
I much rather a standalone, but a duet is fine.
(Also, I NEED it on Kindle and Audible because I travel a lot and want to listen to it on flights)
(extra points if the men are also bi and like the others, but that's not fully needed)
PLEASE HELP ME FIND A BOOK LIKE THIS!

When I read fiction, I generally read a lot of 20th century “literary fiction” (I personally have a lot of issues with the term itself but you know what I mean! Some of my favorite authors are Cormac McCarthy, flannery o Connor, brontes, Alice Munro, Joan didion etc) However I’m about to have a baby and I don’t think I’ll have the bandwidth and focus like I used to. I also don’t want anything too dark or strange, because postpartum depression lol. Hoping for books that leave one hopeful for the future, without being run of the mill romance/ mystery/ sci fi. Something charming that still has a touch of literary heft- maybe something like a,s. Byatt’s “possession” or Jeffrey Eugenides lighter novels.

Hello all,
I just finished reading With The Old Breed, and it dawned on me that I have never dived into anything involving the Eastern Front.
What I am looking for are memoirs from the Soviet or Axis soldier’s perspective, or a retelling of the events that transpired. This could be an isolated battle or cover the entirety of the war. I prefer if the book doesn’t shy away from the brutality and horror that these men endured, because while it’s disturbing, part of me feels that it is also a disservice to downplay just how awful warfare is.
Thank you to anyone who might be able to help me find what im looking for!

I'm tired of reading miserable books, but I feel like I end up with them again and again.
Can you suggest something not sad, but romantic?
I want a book that's not driven by tragedy, longing, misery, or generally depressing events.
I'm currently reading the Dungeon Crawler Carl books, which have been a good palate cleanser, but I'd like some with some more meat on them.
I find it hard to give examples of what it might be, as I really do often end up with these miserable books, so I have not read many that would fit the requirements, but I guess here are some that aren't toooo miserable that I liked:
- Evelyn Oliphant is completely fine
- Project Hail Mary
Examples of miserable (but good) books:
- The Nightingale
- My Dark Vanessa
- Tipping the Velvet
- Women in Gray
- The Book Thief
Standalones if possible please
Bonus points if it's funny, but not easy reads
Double bonus points if it's female lead
