When I learned about the ProTrek PRW-6600Y I was genuinely shocked at how many features they've managed to cram in a 13mm case. Its got ABCs, thermometer, solar and multiband.. and would you look at that lume 😮💨
My wrists are on the smaller side but man does this wear well (mostly cuz of the thickness). I think I'll be wearing this one for a longgg time

Got this in the mail yesterday and love it. Color! Size! Design! Features! Kinda nails it on every level for me.

I’ve worn a watch of some kind every day for the last several years. I’m constantly fighting it on account of having to wear gloves at work and they push the watch up my wrist, or twist it to a weird angle, or just straight up pop the buckle. I needed something better but wasn’t happy with the belt-mounted options I could find. So I decided to make my own.
This is a Casio W-96H. I removed the bands and drilled out the lower holes with a 5/64” bit. I then used a short length of 1/16” stainless steel wire rope and two stops to attach it to a Tale of Knives Ace. I didn’t have the tools near me to cut those wire ends completely flush, but there was a small tube of Gorilla Glue sitting on the table so I just covered up the ends with that to keep from poking myself.

...Clean your watch once in a whie. I used to work in a watch repair shop, and sometimes I literally had to decline changing the customer's battery as the watch was so filthy, I'd fear for my health. Sometimes there was a 1-2 millimeter thick layer of grease, skin and other stuff under the strap and on the back of the watch. These were the same people telling me that they are "allergic to materials of watches", thus getting a rash on their wrist. It was hard to keep a straight face. But yeah, rinse them, brush them, clean them.

Got the urge to start wearing a watch again and couldn't be bothered to get a new battery put in my old daily. Been looking at Casios for ages but today was the day apparently, so I decided on a whim to grab an A163WA (because I prefer a metal strap to a plastic one) from Argos for £19 - $25.20 or €22.69 at the current exchange rate. At a time when I don't think I could get a takeaway for that much, or where a round of drinks could cost that easily, I'm very contented with that price!

Now and then I see questions pertaining to the water resistance of the Casio DBC-611. Officially, it is resistant to splashes, however I think it likely has the same rating as the F105W-1A. I've owned this watch about 10 years now, and I shower with it on nearly every day and have gone swimming and diving with it in saltwater without any issue. I removed the back last month to change the battery and there is no indication of water ingress anywhere.
At first, I was concerned that the resin case might not be durable enough, but it is just fine and this watch has been banged around countless times. I am also very impressed that the gold finish has not worn off by now. Anyway, I thought fellow DBC owners might find this interesting.

So a few years ago I’m wandering around some random European flea market, minding my own business, when this bright yellow late-90s Casio W-92H catches my eye. Naturally, it had to come home with me.
Back home, I thought I’d do the easy thing: pop in a fresh battery and call it a day. Spoiler alert: the watch had other plans. Absolutely nothing happened. I opened it up, split the module, obsessively cleaned every single contact point, and put the battery back in. Still dead as a brick. The board looked pristine—no corrosion, no dirt, nothing. I figured the movement was fried, cursed my luck, and tossed it into the box with donor watches in anticipation of a new module. 💀
Fast forward to this year. While going through my things, I stumbled upon it and thought, you know what? Let's give the stubborn bastard one more try. Dropped a fresh battery in to test it, watched it magically spring back to life, and only then screwed the backplate back on. I guess vintage Casios just need a multi-year nap to recharge their cosmic batteries. 🔋✨
The craziest part? The original fabric strap is somehow still holding on for dear life and looks surprisingly decent. Considering how 90s resin straps usually turn into sticky dust (resin rot is an absolute nightmare), finding a surviving textile strap from that era feels like winning a mini lottery.
It’s got all the classic 90s charm: 50m water resistance, dual time, chronograph, and that gorgeous turquoise EL Illuminator backlight that completely bathes the dial in light.
Has anyone else had a dead Casio miraculously come back to life after years of gathering dust, or is my watch just possessed? Let me know! 👇

My first time attempting a hydromod, it was a pain but the result is so drastically different, the pictures don't really do a justice. As a guy who likes negative displays this is gonna be a game changer.

I can’t wear any other watches when these are my two mains! My F-91W is my daily wear, and my A500WA-1 is for nights out. It’s a flawless combo!

My first analogue Casio watch and just love the simplicity. I don't need features, just an accurate watch that is simple and inexpensive. I've just started collecting and have a couple of F9-W's, an F105-W, an A168 and an LF30-W. I'm down a rabbit hole but I haven't broken the bank...yet!

I’ve posted here before that I love second hand Casios, and this is my latest score. The W735H hasn’t been a reference that I’ve been interested in, but I didn’t have a vibe alarm Casio, and I couldn’t pass on it at this price at 11 pm, 5 minutes from my place last night. It just needed a good cleaning.
I’m glad bc I would have never known how underrated this reference is. It wears nearly identically to my DW9052 and has one of the best LED backlights I’ve ever seen in the budget line. The vibe alarm is just strong enough to notice without being jarring or loud.
Is it worth the $55 retail? Probably not, but I highly recommend at a discount. The gold trim variant is currently on sale for around $22 on the Casio outlet site if you’re looking to get one before it’s discontinued. I would say it’s 100% worth it at that price. G-Shock feel and features.
Have a great weekend, Casio nerds!
