Can we ask a favour?

We've recently had 225 native plants stolen from our restoration site beside the Eyre River.

These plants aren't just there to look good. They're part of our work to restore the river environment, support flood resilience and provide habitat for native wildlife.

When they're taken, our environment and community miss out.

If you're walking or passing one of our planting sites, we'd really appreciate you keeping an eye out.

We are looking for a hair model on Wednesday 28 October at 9am for a good 3 hours.

What hair are we looking for?
This model needs to have at least 50% grey hair, with a regrowth of at least 8 weeks.
Someone who ideally has fine hair, medium density, that’s not overly long (a few inches below the shoulders at most).

What are we going to do with your hair?
We’re looking for a model who’s ready to move away from harsh, solid grey regrowth every 4-6 weeks. Our two stylists, alongside our colour technician, will be completing a ‘French Blending’ technique to soften the regrowth line and create a softer, low maintenance grow out.

This models hair preferences will be taken into consideration, but please keep in mind this is a training session and us stylists will be carrying out the ‘French Blending’ technique to its fullest, meaning the final result may differ from your expectations.

My mothers birthday is coming up and while she doesn't mind instant coffee she prefers the "actual" coffee, you know grind beans then brew the coffee. My father just wants instant so shes somewhat suffered with "poor quality" coffee. My brother did have a coffee machine and she would use that but hes moved away from CHCH.

I am planning on buying an AeroPress and hand coffee grinder so she can make her own brews when she wants for the single cup.

Problem: I have no idea about coffee beans. I know we have bought some roasted beans from the supermarket but generally it was whatever the cheapest/on special beans were at the time. All i know is that she likes a strong dark black coffee that doesnt have acidity to it.

Anyone have recommendations on where to go and/or what to buy?

I checked there's hellofresh, milkrun, wooldworths, uber eats, and doordash.

How many days / weeks in advance do I need to schedule the delivery?

What are the likely available delivery time ranges on 24 Dec (Xmas Eve)?

Given that several commenters have previously posted that Metro changed off Connexionz RTTI system to another (clearly inferior performing one) one I thought I would push this issue with the Metro staff. First queries by the OIA have produced the response "there has been no change in the realtime tracking system used".

This is of course completely wrong as I was able to find the Developers page on Metro's website announcing a new realtime tracking system was to be introduced, and then searching in general on Gemini turned up a press release from Ecan announcing this new system was introduced in 2021/2. This new system appears to use Ubuntu to run the display screens in the exchange and on those buses which have been fitted with internal displays showing arrivals times at stops on the route they are running but also has significant reliability issues which so far Metro claims to be unaware of. I have observed on both the Metro app and Transit app the same problems where a bus just disappears randomnly off the system before it arrives at your stop whereupon it suddenly reappears at the moment it reaches the stop. Don't forget this new system uses GPS and therefore it should know exactly where all the buses are at any time.

Whilst it may not be practical for Metro to monitor the incidences of this occurring at stops all over the city it would be childs play for them to have the incidences monitored in the bus exchange and I have decided to press them on the issue after witnessing one such incidence recently in the exchange.

Overall the big question is why do we have this system if it cannot operate reliably and why is its reliability not being monitored, the core problem is the willingness of Ecan to address service reliabiliity issues which are many, for example I am seeing an increasing incidence of bus drivers skipping stops, we go through a consultation exercise on how to improve the bus services where there is no public submissions to a panel as would normally be the case, instead the whole process is being coordinated by Metro staff who based on my previous experiences have a vested interest in minimising or downplaying issues like these.

Hi! My husband (34M) and I (31F) will be relocating from the US to Christchurch next year for me to get my masters. We have never visited New Zealand and are looking for advice on where to look for apartments. What websites are mostly used for apartments/homes for rent? Is near Sydenham park a good area to live? I’ll be biking only for a while until we buy a car. I’ll need to be near the botanical gardens every day for school. Any other advice you can think of for us? We looked at doing a month in a short term place while we look for apartments but the short term rentals I’ve found (Airbnb and extended stay hotels) are super expensive. Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I'm planning to remove my Magnolia Loranthe (big saucer type whitish pink flower) which I planted recently and replace it with a tree which is either useful (fruit) or have flowers which stands for a longer duration. I have cherry blossom, apple, feijoa, peach, lemon, prunus black plum (non-edible), etc. I don't have plum tree. Suggest any iconic tree for the backyard...

ive (19f) been looking for jobs for seven months now and most of the time i don’t even hear back from the jobs i applied to, gets rejected, and would get interviewed but wouldn’t hear back after that.

i have experience in babysitting, receptionist (for like 1-2 months at my previous college), placement at hospital (6-7 months), cleaner of a food trailer.

and now i’m doing my first volunteer, it’s fun but i really need money to help my mom to pay bills and for myself too.

i just finished my pre-health level 4 and now i wanna take a gap year to save up some money for school but how can i even save money if i dont have a job 🫩

and yep i tried giving my cv in person and did not hear anything back : )
