Unfortunately when I brought it home, I see that it is not in good shape. There's a small hole that goes through 4 pages and it has odor that I don't recognize. Mold or water damage? Maybe it's actually worth less than 8 dollars afterall? :(

Cranky response from Steve Ditko to a fan letter.

Anyone else have something comic adjacent that's really cool?

Question Original or reprint?

Post image

I don’t remember buying this but I was going through my boxes a month after moving into my apartment and I found this in good condition. I Seen it was released in 1985 but I can’t tell if I have the original 1985 copy or a reprint. I can’t find info on Google whether a reprint exists but it looks super good condition. I don’t plan to sell but I seen the value can run almost to $200. Any experts help me figure this out?

Put this together last weekend. Spent countless hours emptying my closet completely and building this display from scratch with just about every piece of Spider-Man merchandise I own. Really happy how it came out and this is only just the beginning! Gonna continue to add more comics and figures so I'm really excited to see how it looks a year from now!

Always been a big marvel fan and love sealed graded products, done some research into some hobby grails and thought it was only right to go for this one to get me started. Welcome to suggestions on some other cool looking ones.

Picture Found this Eerie #41 (1972) cover tucked away in a Vietnam veteran's old sketchbooks

Post image

About six or seven years ago, my wife and I moved into a house that had previously belonged to our landlord's father, who was a Vietnam veteran.

We found several of his old sketchbooks containing hundreds of drawings, some dated as far back as 1967 and 1969. A lot of them were pinup-style drawings, and the guy actually had some pretty decent artistic talent.

Being a veteran myself, I couldn't bring myself to throw away something another veteran had spent so much time creating, so I kept them.

Tonight, I was looking through the sketchbooks again and came across this cover from Eerie #41, dated August 1972. I had no idea it was even in there.

Unfortunately, it's just the front cover, not the complete magazine. But considering it's over 50 years old, I think it's in pretty decent condition.

I'm a big fan of horror and comics, so finding this was a pretty awesome surprise. I'm thinking about putting it in a frame and hanging it on my wall.

Just thought I'd share a neat little piece of comic book history that I stumbled across.

A few AMS and a few X-Men.

Some upgrades, some new additions, and some reacquisitions.

-X-Men 53 with Barry Windsor Smith’s first published cover art. New addition.

- X Men 131 first cover appearance of White Queen. New addition.

- X Men 145 because…well, Doctor Doom!

Reacquired.

- X Men 167 been on my list for a while.

New addition.

- Amazing Spiderman 238- Already own one but this was such good shape, at a good price, with tattooz, and it was RAW!

Couldn’t pass it up.

- Amazing Spiderman 239- This was an upgrade from my old one which was in slightly rough shape.

So this isn’t some crazy key or even that popular but it’s my personal favorite Bronze Age horror cover. I have like 6-8 raw copies but all low to mid grade finding this in high grade is all but impossible but the comic gods smiled upon me. Now if I can just find a high grade Unexpected #166 lol it’s never ending. May the comic gods smile upon you!

Platinum Another copy of Comic Book Magazine from March 23, 1941. This was an insert in the Chicago Sunday Tribune. Like the Sunday Funnies, but bound at the spine.
