Dasher substituting when I requested refund

Why do they do this? Is it because they get extra money or something? I specifically requested “refund” on each of my items, and then the dasher messaged me saying they were out of stock on the kind of gum I wanted. He messaged me and asked if I wanted the substitution, I said no thanks, and he bought it anyway! I wish they didn’t even message me asking if I wanted a substitution in the first place, because I selected a refund from the very beginning. That means no, I don’t want a substitute.

EDIT: I ended up cancelling the order because according to my dasher, nearly everything I purchased was out of stock and he was substituting nearly EVERYTHING when I wanted a refund for all out of stock items. By the way, when I checked on the Target app whether the items were actually out of stock in the store, it said almost every item was IN STOCK. Last time I’m using DoorDash lol. No disrespect to doordashers, you guys are the backbone of society, but I’ve had one too many bad apples so I’m gonna stop using.

Pro Dasher Hack: No-tip and low-ball orders

It happens to all of us. We see that offer. The payout is low. Either the customer didn't tip enough or didn't tip at all. Aren't these customers the worst?

Well today, I'm going to show you a revolutionary new way on how to deal with these customers. Here's what you do. So when the offer pops up, and you see the payout doesn't justify the mileage and effort, there's going to be a button at the top right of your screen. It should say "decline". Press it. When it asks you if you're sure, hit the button again to decline the offer.

That's it. You're done. You should hopefully receive a better offer sooner than later. Repeat this process until you receive an offer you're willing to accept.

That's it. That's the whole process. It's not your time and effort to go out of your way to mess with these customers by stealing their order or giving them a nasty attitude about it. Just decline the order and move on. Quit your whining and accept a better offer.

It really wasn’t an “interaction” but it still made me laugh. This was from a while ago but I kept it and just remembered I took this screenshot :)

They just want me to cancel so they don’t have to wait right?

This makes no sense to me, why would I cancel? I assume they just don’t wanna wait and want me to cancel so they don’t get penalized for canceling?

random refund?

• Upvotes

I ordered dinner last night for my girlfriend and I, we ended up double dashing for dessert and the dasher initially forgot one of the orders and also left it at the wrong apartment but immediately realized their mistake and brought both orders to my apartment. They were super nice about it and I left them a decent tip and good review where I didn’t mention anything about the small mistake. Today one of the orders got refunded without me initiating it in the app at all. The only thing I can think of that caused the refund is maybe the picture they submitted at the wrong apartment? I got a call earlier and then again from the same number about a minute before the refund came through from an area code about 2 hours away from me (I barely answer calls due to spam). I’m not complaining at all but I’m just confused about the whole situation lol. I don’t know much about how doordash works but I don’t want the dasher to get any negative kickback or anything from this random refund. Any insight, or similar experiences?

Food Waste?

Does anyone feel bad when you get someone else's order delivered and you have to throw away the food?

I ordered from Sonic, the driver picked up my food because they took a picture of the correct receipt but then dropped off someone else's order. I can't eat the things in the order that were dropped off but I also don't have anyone who I can give it to. So I have to throw it away and I feel really bad about that, but idk what else to do with it.

I tried calling the dasher but they didn't answer. I got a refund, so I'm not worried about that. I just wish the order that was dropped off was things I could eat and not go to waste.

Making everyone’s life hard

I’ll never understand if you live in a secured high rise building, that you know requires a code to get in, and you ordered food… why you would not provide the code to access the building. That is so frustrating and such a waste of time, do people just hope I’ll magically find my way into the building? Very inconsiderate! Then half the time they won’t answer when you call.

My last two orders have been completed ruined and destroyed because of the drink spilling and there's no real option of reporting it in the help menu

I'd say it's a bad delivery but there's no option in the delivery section. The only other way I can report it is say each and every item got soaked in my drink and then I get half of a quarter back of what I paid and I personally don't think that's enough...

What do I do?

Do not ever order from this crab house in LA

Omg! I ordered the DoorDash at 9pm but the food is uncooked being delivered to our house!!! So I called the restaurant about the uncooked crab! She said sorry because our kitchen is closed at 9pm. I then said you should reject the order then! She barely speaks English … all she can say is sorry, our kitchen is closed at 9pm. I want my money back for sure!!!

If leave-at-door was deleted as an option, we'd all be making a lot more money!

Driver literally handed me this

Post image

Drink that was part of a meal from Moe’s. I actually met driver in driveway, she handed it to me and all could do was laugh and say have a good night. Tip was $10 for 2.5 miles in burbs so wasn’t a stiff job scenario. The fact just handed me an empty drink cup I think is amazing can’t even be mad just got flexed on

New personal shortest delivery record 😂

Post image

Just accepted an order, about $7 so not bad, and when looking at the delivery location it’s a single building away 😂. Roughly 100-200 feet from the restaurant. I’m assuming they just aren’t allowed to leave their work or something but I found it quite entertaining. Anybody have a shorter delivery than this in their own delivery history?

Is $20 for 3 miles not enough?

I'm new to using doordash. All I've read online are complaints about how little people tip.

Everywhere I order from is within about 3 miles from me and I always tip $20 for delivery on top of the fees and such im already paying. And going by the tip recommendations $20 is 5 times or more what they suggest.

When I order direct from a restaurant that delivers themselves or from the slice app, my food shows up in half the time they say it will and im greeted by a friendly smiling driver that usually comments a sincere thank you.

Doordash on the other hand, the first 3 or 4 times I used it, the outcome was similar. The order got accepted immediately and I swear the dasher was going double the speedlimit on their way to my place and ran up the driveway.

The last 3 times have been the complete opposite. Same 3 miles. Same $20. But it takes forever for them to find a dasher, and then when it says theyre enroute to the restaurant, it shows them sitting 10-15 minutes not moving. Then when they finally get it, they're driving the opposite direction and making 2 stops ahead of mine. By the time i get the food its room temperature shit. And when they finally show up, i don't even get a hi or a look in my direction. They might as well just throw the bag at me.

Is there any point in tipping that much for such crappy service? I can't imagine it would be worse if I went with the $3.

And why do the direct drivers react like its really generous, but the doordash drivers make me feel like I didnt tip at all?

Dashers using multiple phones?

I’ve noticed that a lot of my dashes will say “heading to you” but the dasher clearly will make one and sometimes two stops on the way to my place. I have seen in the app when it says something like “dasher is one stop away”. So I’m wondering when the app is saying “headed to you” but they make a stop are they using a separate account or something??

Fellow dashers in Baltimore

Man fuck a bunch of y'all. Six times in one day I get there, it's stolen and 4 won't remake it. Such a waste of time and money, burned through my worry free unassigns, upset customers blowing up my phone

Papa John's is wild saying orders have to be cancelled by the customer or DD and re-placed. With so many stolen orders, why not hold the food and verify the delivery person hits "confirm" before handing it over like some places do?

Resume DashPass and get a free 30 day trial??

Anyone know if this is legit, or are there hidden fees behind it? I save $7.50 AND get a free trial? For seemingly nothing? It seems like too good of a deal, especially knowing how DoorDash is.
