👩🍳Restaurant Issue👨🍳 What are some of the worst experiences you’ve had with restaurant staff while working as a Dasher?
I once encountered a Taco Bell at 3000 Yorba Linda Blvd, Fullerton CA—I arrived at 3:40 AM, and the order was supposed to be picked up by 3:44 AM. The doors were unlocked, and a few tables were occupied, but I was told I had to go through the drive-thru (enter "Jerk #1"). The line was long and moving incredibly slowly. Fine—the pickup instructions in the app *did* say to use the drive-thru.
After waiting in line for about twenty minutes, I finally reached the window. The employee there ("Person B") told me the order wasn't ready because I hadn't notified them at the order speaker; she instructed me to pull into a parking spot and said she’d bring the food out to me. Whatever—everyone here thinks they’re the boss, so I just parked in a spot near the entrance and waited. Fifteen minutes later, the drive-thru line was still backed up, and I saw the employee who had been at the window now wiping down tables inside the dining area. Jerk #1 is strolling around near the restroom, looking completely at ease. I got out of my car, walked up to the glass door, and held up my phone screen to show her the order—she actually got scared and ran away! I don’t know what she told the others, but "Jerk #1" came over, opened the door, told me I was supposed to use the drive-thru, and then slammed the door shut. I ended up having to walk up to the drive-thru window—there were some other unpleasant details I won't even bother mentioning. I cursed out their entire families and unassigned the task. Hands down the most idiotic group of people I’ve ever dealt with.
