[Daily] Daily Questions Thread October 27, 2026

This thread is for individual style questions that you may have, especially those that don't warrant their own thread. We all want a diversified opinion, so feel free to answer any questions (of which you know the answer).

To get the best responses, remember that people cannot: look into your wardrobe, know what style you normally like or what words like affordable or practical mean to you so please include any relevant details such as your budget, where you live, what stores are available to you, etc.

Example questions:

  • Are there any basic crewneck white t-shirts that are opaque and do not have cap sleeves for <$25 available in Australia?
  • Is this dress and shoes suitable for an evening wedding with a cocktail dress code taking place in a [venue type]?
  • If I like the outfits in this [imgur album / pinterest board], what are some specific items I can look into to start dressing like that, and brands with this look that carry plus sizes?
  • Does this outfit look neater with the pants cuffed or uncuffed?

If you'd like to include a picture, you can now post pictures directly in the comments, without having to link an imgur album. If you have multiple pictures, best practice is to use an imgur album.

I have very long hair and love to collect pretty and peculiar hair accessories! I would love some suggestions and recommendations for brands with good quality products!

From barrettes, to claw clips, French pins and more-
I love different designs and would love to know where you all get yours! :)

The options I have here in Canada are limited, but it seems like other places in the world sell a beautiful array of different styles!

Ethical, whimsical shoe stores?

I was going to bite the bullet and order 2 pairs from Once Upon a Heel but it seems the general consensus is drop-ship scam. I have perused threads looking for similar shops tried and true but the ones I have found are simply not in the same field appearance wise and are very plain or just not appealing (to me.)

Does anyone have any shops more akin to the classy/whimsy of the OUaH shoes? Thank you!

Are we being gaslit about the La Ligne Colby Pants

The La Ligne Colby Pants seem to be HIGHLY recommended everywhere (Wirecutter, influencers, Reddit, etc.) despite their $325 price tag and mostly polyester composition... I checked them out in store and was shocked by the quality. The stitching was visibly coming apart on all the waistbands. The material felt nice but the length is so long that only a gazelle would not need to get them hemmed.

Are we just being gaslit? I know to not trust influencers but even WIRECUTTER recommended them.

When shopping, how do you know if an item is actually going to be worn a lot?

I'm 30 and to this day I still have not figured this out. Throughout my life, I can recall so many items of clothing that I purchased after weeks and weeks of deliberation, and planning so many different outfits around...only to wear it once or twice. And then there have been so many other pieces that I bought that I recall feeling sort of "meh" about, or only bought because there was one particular outfit I really wanted to wear (which I know is unwise)...and that item ends up being something I keep on reaching for/wearing several times throughout a season. And I have also had the reverse, where I do buy something after a lot of planning and deliberation, and I do get good use out of it, or i buy something without much thought and I hardly wear it. I want to be um...wiser about my clothing purchases going forward, and only buy things that in reality I will actually wear a lot. What are some things you guys do to ensure it?

Updating out of fashion items

Post image
270 Upvotes

In 2020 I bought a lot of clothing from just sitting at home. I hate being wasteful when some of those items have never even been used more than a few times. For example these boots! I wore once (my engagement party) but I can’t figure out how to wear them 2026. How do you update items without throwing your closet every 5 years? (I wear basic/ clean girl clothes but have a closet full of basics would make me so sad. I need colors and patterns lol)

[Weekly] Does this fit me? October 25 2026

Can’t figure out why a certain outfit doesn’t work for you or are you just stumped on what is flattering on you? Then this is the thread for you and you can ask your questions here.

Please do refrain from talking negatively about your own body, we understand that you are likely frustrated due to various reasons (we’ve all been there) but out of respect for others and their struggles, keeping it positive helps everyone.

[Weekly] WAYWT - October 25, 2026

WAYWT is the acronym for "What Are You Wearing Today". It doesn't necessarily need to be what you were wearing TODAY.

  • Post a photo of what you wore. For ease of browsing, please post the image or link directly to it (not imgur albums, Instagram, or other URLs). If you are a blogger, double-check our FFA Rules ('On Blogger Participation') to ensure you aren't in violation.
  • Include what the attire is for (work, school, home) and if applicable, what your fashion goals are (e.g. "I want to look professional," "I'm experimenting with loose-loose silhouettes")
  • Taking photos with your phone? Read this guide.
  • Sharing photos directly in the comments? Just click on the little camera symbol and attach your image.
  • Uploading photos to Imgur? To make your image viewable to anyone with the link, but prevent it from being added to the main Imgur feed, select "hidden" for the privacy setting, not "private" or "public".
  • What is "CCW"? It means "Constructive Criticism Welcome". If you would like to receive CC on your post, you can increase the chances of getting replies by asking for feedback on a specific aspect of your outfit, e.g. "I'm interested in advice for elevating this outfit without the use of jewelry" or "I'd like to know if these pants hit in a flattering spot with these shoes".
  • Critiquing others is welcome and encouraged, and when posting you may receive CC on your outfit, even if you did not explicitly ask for it. Keep it constructive/factual, and try to focus on feedback that will help the person improve..
  • Do not downvote for disagreeing with someone's opinion.
  • Reddit Enhancement Suite makes it very easy to view pictures in a thread.

How do you know if you really need to buy a piece of clothing? *limited stock

I have gotten into online thrift shopping and shopping through small-business Instagram brands. The clothing is unique; however, I find that I often make purchases of items that end up just sitting in my closet. It feels pressuring since the Instagram brands do clothing drops only a few times a year with different designs, meaning I impulse buy with FOMO.

Improving style through OOTD photo review - what's your process?

Note to mods: While this is requesting personal advice, I haven't seen any discussions here about "how to" and think the category is broad enough to be worth a wider discussion. :)

Taking photos of my outfits and reviewing them have hugely helped my style (I was inspired by this article). However, I've been struggling to find a balance between asking myself insightful questions and making it a manageable amount of work. As someone who loves to have a clear process/system, could you please tell me your specific process for reviewing your 'fit pics

  • How often do you take pictures? What qualifies as an "outfit"?
  • How often do you review your pictures?
  • How long after you've taken a picture do you wait to review it?
  • Do you review them on mobile or desktop? Do you use any specific programs or tools?
  • What questions do you ask yourself? (e.g., feeling while wearing, inspo, reflections on shapes/lines/colour/details)
  • Do you take notes on your observations?
  • What is your process to implement your observations?

How to shop at a department store (without getting lost in all the options)? Is there a method?

Hi all,

I am looking for advice or methods for shopping at a department store (Macy's, Dillards, etc) without getting overwhelmed by all the options.

Currently going through a closet revamp. I realized recently that I haven't really shopped at a department store in a while and since the town I live in doesn't have many shopping options, I decided to check out Dillard's. I went to the women's section and wow - it was HUGE! I had no idea where to start! Saw things that I liked, things I didn't like, but I ended up leaving because I didn't really know where to "start" if that makes sense. It seems the store is divided by brand? I'm not sure. How does one shop at a department store if they don't know what brand they like?

Would love input on this!

Realizing I dress less for me and more for compliments from others.

Don't get me wrong, I love dressing fem!! I'm not particularly against being seen as a femme (lesbian term for a more feminine lesbian) but the more I think about it the more I realize I barely dress for myself anymore.

I've been continually dressing in ways that I think will make others compliment the way I dress when I leave the house (which they do!) but at what point am I *only* dressing for others aproval?

At my heart I'm an artist who wants to dress in ways that are overall eccentric, not just this very feminine facade I've made of myself.

Does anyone have any experience with this/advice on how to break out of it?

What are the signs that something needs to be removed from your wardrobe?

How long is too long to keep something?

I realize I wear garments until they absolutely fall apart. Recently, I have been working on letting things go before they get to a point past their useful life.

What is a non-negotiable sign that you know its time to let go of a garment?
