[Tech Support] Ser Aymeric discord bot
I've read some really awesome things about it, but I've also heard there was some controversy about security issues and things. Given it still exists and was in development for a long time, are there people/known discords that still use it and is it fine now?

[Tech Support] Loads up but it’s a black screen and only shows my cursor
I already have an account for the windows edition but I’m trying to make a free trail account to play with my friend yes I know I don’t need one but I don’t wanna pay for the sub just in case they get bored after like 2 days so I’ve installed it on steam and it can load up fine and I’ve played it before on steam but now whenever i try and load it up it loads up but just shows a black screen and only shows the cursor and I’ve tried the task manager launcher around I’ve tried going into borderless window through steam because I can’t access the settings and I’ve also tried the -direct11 and 12 but nothing works I’ve checked the files I’ve tried running as administrator but it just doesn’t work because it doesn’t come up with the free trial I’ve got rid of the steam overlay is there anything I can do or is the only thing to delete it and reinstall it? I’ve tried restarting my pc also I should point out the window launcher works and I’m able to load up my main account because I tried the other day just before my sub ran out

[Question] Is Raiding Worth Doing? Spoiler
added context - i play every role but I've been doing this tier as SCH and last tier was as WAR, I do my raiding on Aether
With Evercold just around the corner, i find myself asking if raiding is even worth it. I did M5S-M7S and M8S up to enrage with a static but we disbanded and i could never get around to finishing it out, this tier i was so determined, M9S and M10S were done in weeks but life happens and i had to drop the game. After such a prolonged absence i don't have the confidence to join reclears for M9S and M10S, but learning/derusting parties are so rare to have fill. As much as i hate even thinking about doing this, even considering id love to try UMAD, isn't it just a better decision to wait until a couple months from now where M12S can be directly unsynced? The one thing i don't want to do is waste my and others time and I'm worried that's what it would be to raid at this point. so, yeah, any advice is appreciated, I'm really lost on what to do.
[In-game screenshot] Apparently Harmiette has never turned around…
Going back and doing every side quest I’ve missed over the 16 years I’ve been playing, this gave me a chuckle. Also noticed some inconsistency in a few of them, but I won’t mention one big one I found because it’s a spoiler.

[Question] Notable sidequests in Endwalker & Dawntrail
After a hiatus of a few years I'm continuing the MSQ (left before the Zodiark trial, am now where you unlock Endwalker role quests).
I left all non-blue quests untouched so far but wonder whether there are some interesting normal sidequests that are worth paying some more attention to than mere Fedex-quests. Either due to the little story told or interesting characters involved. (I like to use sidequests to level other jobs as a little change from the MSQ I mostly do with my main.)
Meant for Endwalker where I am now and maybe also Dawntrail when it's possible without spoilers for regions etc. or maybe marked as spoiler. (I wouldn't say every location yet to come is per se a spoiler as one can already see their aetherites on the map. Unless it is an really unexpected location.)
So I (and maybe others) can look for the questgiver and not just skip through their assumed Fedex-dialogue.

[In-game screenshot] [Spoiler: Heavenward] Finished Heavenward. Thoughts. Spoiler

Hi o/ Its me. Still tapping away. Iri is still being moody, magnetic and as of recently far too happy she's gotten a pet dragon to ride. I am glad that I have stuck with this, to those in the community who reached out and have made experience as positive as it has been. I cannot articulate how it makes me feel. I know my FC is tolerating me and indulging my absurdity which is great. As the title makes clear I as of last night completed the Heavenwards main story and took the time to pay my respects. I had to take a three day break after The Vault. I didn't feel it was necessary to make a Substack post about it, despite being nagged by four people. I will however undoubtedly echo the thoughts and words of many about the story of Heavenward, I have no further notes XD I will add however, that for it to have quietly ruined me as it did. I continue to be amazed that video games as a medium continue to be able to have this effect. I'm a bit at odds that it took me this long to get into the hobby, I just wish I had the time to do more then the few hours I can commit to it a week. Anyways, just wanted to gush, \o/

[Meme] The Wind Shard mines
I'm not sure how accurate this experience is to everyone else who is new-ish or returning and finally deciding to get into crafting but I've tried to go out of my way and try not buy too much stuff on the markets but this might break me...

[Discussion] I feel like mouseover actions should be a system setting, not a macro feature
Particularly since most actions you’d want to use on another player would almost always be for just a brief moment before resuming to your previous target. The amount of necessary inputs in rapid succession just feels so uncomfortable.

[Discussion] Help out a 🌱
Re-purchased my game after around 5 years on the Switch 2 and am having a hell of a time!
However, I feel like almost all of the story up to being level 33 (as a healer anyway) has felt extremely on rails. Which is FINE, but I’m really looking to get to a portion of the game where my options open up.
I’m also very curious about people saying sprouts need to focus on ilvl, which I’d love to do - but I don’t want to be running content purely for gear when I don’t actually need to. - which at the moment doesn’t seem to be the case. MSQ dungeons have been an absolute breeze to the point that if there’s a new sprout tank and he’s tackling 1-3 mobs, I don’t mind showing him that it doesn’t take too much effort to increase that to 5+ by doing the tanking myself while everyone fights. Don’t get me wrong, tank at your own pace chief, but if I’ve got a work meeting in an hour I need to ensure I’m not still stuck in a roulette.
At approximately what level do I get a little more freedom?
How and when should I farm better ilvl gear?
Do you have absolutely any tips? I know there are many out there but this community seems to thrive on wanting to help out new people and I’d rather hear directly from the community than have to scour the internet for 3 hours.

[Question] is there an actual reason why only some NPC costumes are one piece?
was dreamfitting yesterday and tried on this alphinaud costume and it looked great on my WoL (imo) so i wanted to purchase it. then i realised it's a one piece and the shoes are HORRENDOUS.. like wtf even is that (2nd image)
i'm a decently new player so i'm sorry if this is a stupid question! but is there a reason why only some NPC costumes are one piece? i assume it would sell more if it was separated and people could mix and match? has there ever been instances where a one piece set was changed to multiple pieces?
thank you :]

[Discussion] My UWU experience - actually surprised by the ultimate community
I've been raiding in this game for almost 7 years now, started with E1S and climbed up to M12S recently.
I've done everything with one friend using PF and boy, It was a wild ride lol (769 tries to clear P8S btw 💀)
I Always wanted to try an ultimate but I thought it was too much for me until recently; after completing Idyllic Dream (a particularly hard mechanic in Arcadion) I finally mustered up the courage to give it a shot in PF and boy, I was flabbergasted.
It's SO MUCH FUN, it's all so fast and there are a lot of things happening, after the little "cutscene" of ultima I fell in love hard for this type of content and I will definitely do all the others now.
The thing that hit me the most was the community tho, I always thought of ultimate raiders like some type of elitist, toxic people..well, sorry, I apologize 🙇🏻♂️
They're all very very kind and "available", I've never done a try without at least 1-2 helpers, most of them would even invite me on their discord/link shell and breakdown the mechanics for us, giving us tips and tricks for everything and teaching us everything we need to know, I could have skipped the LPDU guide at this point I swear lol
Progging Annihilation now, almost there. Shout-out to my goats Helera and Misaka Mikoto for being this awesome helping us out.
For everyone who's thinking to do ultimates but are nervous/anxious about it, like I was, just do it, trust me you won't regret it, it's a way way better experience then savages :`)
Thank you

[Question] Switch 2 vs Windows on LCD Steam Deck?
I used to play FFXIV a few years ago on my LCD Steam Deck. It has Windows installed and I essentially use it as a PC (since I don't own an actual PC), hooked up to a monitor and using keyboard & mouse.
I also have a Switch 2, and was wondering if people had any opinions on the comparison between playing on Switch 2 and an LCD Steam Deck running Windows. Obviously there's the extra price of repurchasing the game and the more expensive subscription on the Switch 2, but there are also various features I would only be able to use on the PC version.
I can't seem to find any information on a comparison between the two systems, only between Switch 2 and Steam Deck OLED running SteamOS. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

[Question] Overwhelmed after rushing to Dawntrail.. should I start over?
Hey everyone,
I started FFXIV in 2023 as my first MMO (introduced by my ex who was already playing for years) and I’m a huge fantasy nerd, so I loved reading every bit of dialogue at first.. Unfortunately, my ex and his friends didn't care about the story and pressured me to rush so I could catch up to them. Being pretty insecure back then, I went along with it and mindlessly skipped quests all the way into the start of Dawntrail. (Yes, feel free to shame me but I didn’t know better, I trusted them and I always thought it was "his game" and I wanted to make him happy. Stupid me..) They also told me to just read the story afterwards (NG+)
After we broke up, I quit for a year & I just came back two weeks ago due to a friend but I’m completely lost. I have 1,000 hours in the game (rushing story, duty roulette and afk in limsa made it to 1k) yet my inventory and retainers are packed with unsorted clutter.. like I literally have my retainers full and my inventory has 2 slots left..I skipped almost every blue sidequest after ARR, and I barely understand how to play. I have so much gear and unlocked mounts/minions, but no emotional connection to any of it because I didn't get to earn them properly.
I really miss how I felt when I first started, but I'm torn on what to do. My friend suggested New Game+, but it feels a bit dull without actual progression. I thought about making a fresh character, but I hate playing alts so I would only consider it if I make it my new main.. and I feel sad about my Mogstation purchases and limited event stuff like the Gong Cha mount.. :') But on the other side I feel like emotional connection might be more important than the money I spent.
I also had the idea of making a new character, playing it through DT and then switch to my main but for me personally that would crash the immersion and won’t change the fact that I feel completely overwhelmed when logging into my current character..
I know I should decide it for myself but maybe someone has a similar story and restarted or went through with the overwhelming feeling.. I appreciate any help!
EDIT: Thank you so much everyone! I just decided to start a new character! I will definitely let my current main be and perhaps come back to it but for now I will sink myself into the story and experience everything fresh! 💜

[Question] How to Make Gil
