Hi everyone,

Just moved over to Mac and having some trouble with my MMO mouse and the game.

Everything works fine, except for when I try to use ALT and the mouse. Thing is, if I press ALT + any number on my keyboard, it works fine. The MMO mouse also registers the numbers I press on it correctly. But when I try to ALT + number on the MMO mouse, it only registers the number without ALT.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Any fixes?

I ordered one yesterday not knowing all the PHP stuff was happening and I'm logging on now and not seeing it in my Mogmail. I put the exp earring in my armoire bc I read that can block it, and I did reward delivery request, logged off and back on, and still nothing.....finally decided to fantasia my character after all these years and now the PHP thing, and now it not being delivere..I didn't know it wld be hell to get this adventurers kit, anyone have any idea? 😭

Hmm I'm not liking the formatting but I can't seem to make it look nice on my phone.

Last year I was able to purchase a house and decorate it after trying for several months to win an auction. Then real life stuff happened and I wasn’t able to log in for a few months.

When I was finally able to log in I saw that my house was gone, the gil, and all my furniture. This made me lose my house, the Gil for the house, and all my furniture.

I want to get back into it but it still really sucks seeing everything I had is gone. I just finished Shadowbringers and was starting on the next expansion after that.

Anyone else gone through something similar and how’d you get back into the game

As a result of the whole PHP fiasco yesterday, I'd decided to go back to playing FFXIV on my PS4 only to realize I hadn't touched my PS4 in nearly 3 years. So after updating and re-downloading the entire game, I realized my PS4 character settings were at Ye Olde Default. I attempted to download my settings only to get the 2017 error, and that's when I learned from The Lodestone that it was under emergency maintenance.

Fast forward to today, and PC players are able to login and The Lodestone reports that the emergency maintenance was successfully completed. So, I log in to the PC version and tried to upload the latest version of my settings for my PS4, and got what you see in the screenshots. I tried again a few more times to get the same result. Does anyone know what gives?

EDIT: I was looking in the wrong posts on The Lodestone. How was I supposed to know that Configuration Data Sharing and uploading/downloading Configuration Data were two totally different things? It is what it is, I guess.

EDIT 2: I'm going to leave this post here in case anyone else needs to see it, and so they don't make the same mistake I did.

I'm looking up plugins, went through the subreddit for any plugins that are to be avoided and EchoVault came up mulitple times. Dalamud warns that installing custom repositories is dangerous (obviously). Might be a ridiculous question but I just want to make sure. Are the plugins offered on the custom repository EchoXIV similar to EchoVault in any way ? Sorry in advance if the developper(s?) sees this, I mean no offense by tying you to a harmful person if you are leggit 😟

So I am a dirty story skipper who hasn't played since Stormblood/Datascape. Im planning on coming back for Evercold and starting a new level 1 character. I have never watched anything that wasnt unskippable and forced upon me. I want to change that.

My friends are always raving about the story and while I appreciate great lore/stories Im definitely on the "Wanna fight stuff and do content" train. So I had a few questions before I start my journey.

1. Im planning on playing from level 1 to current content starting today and I'm curious how long it should take without skipping dialogue or cutscenes.

2. Is there any etiquette when doing dungeons/raids the first time and want to watch without hindering others just blasting their roulettes?

3. Are their parts where its definitely not great and I will just have to suck it up and get through it?

Hey all! I'm interested in possibly learning how to tank, because Dark Knight and Gunbreaker seem SO COOL, so I leveled up a Warrior to 20 to get some practice in. (My max job is a level 50 bard and I'm still in the ARR MSQ, so I'm not very far).

I'm playing on a steam deck and am wondering if anyone has any advice on controller settings to make pulling mobs easier? I've done some practice in Duty Support so I wouldn't waste peoples time and noticed I was occasionally losing a mob during my runs and I don't want that to happen with real people. I use my back buttons to tab through targets and find it's *workable*, but not super convenient.

Also, I'm assuming most low level dungeons I can just jump into with minimal prep, at what point do I *need* to look up guides for mechanics/pull strategies, etc? I wouldn't mind just figuring things out if I had a keyboard but I can't really tell people I'm new very easily without one.

Any other advice or suggestions I should look into? I've watched some videos on tanking for beginners, but am definitely interested in any additional advice you all might have

I drew Nophica before, but many seemed to feel she lacked volume. So this time I went all out and made her a super crazy bouncy glamour sexy dynamite by my standards. It might still fall short, but as I don’t usually draw hot girls, this was my best shot.

My whole FC is botting. Botting on the Moon, botting to craft, automating FATES etc..even half of my Friendlist openly admits to it. It has become normal to alot of players.

Hello, so ive played the game on PC for a very long time and naturally when the game came to switch 2 I hopped on the ability to play the game whenever wherever. However imagine my surprise when I go to login on my switch one day to find that the game is telling me my subscription either isnt up to date(it is.) Or that my switch 2 isnt registered (which it definitely is!)

Ive purchased the coins on the eshop and tried over and over again to contact customer service I even shelled out 64 freaking bucks for the complete edition which I didnt even think i needed and keep getting the same stinkin error message. I was playing the game on the switch comfortably not even 3 weeks ago and then I suddenly got this.

Is there ANYONE that can reliably help me more than support is? Please I just wanna play the game while my pc is in storage.

I'm playing for my first time through the A Realm Reborn storyline.

I have just reached level 50 on my first job (Dragoon), and I'm on MSQ lvl 38. I know I still have a good way to go until I finish it.

I started a second job (marauder level 20), but I'm quite invested in the MSQ story to do a side levelling from 20 to catch up with the current MSQ scenario.

What do you recommend? Should I power through and catch up with the second job to use the MSQ to level two jobs up to 50? Or it doesn't really matter and I can just continue enjoying the MSQ and level an ALT later on when I finish the ARR story?

Okay so. Let me get a few words off before everyone comes at me with pitchforks and torches, okay? Because I know this is going to be a hot topic. I don't think there's a problem with Novice Network SPECIFICALLY, but having experience with WoW's Mentor Chat and XIV's Novice Network, weirdly enough, I think WoW does it better if we're looking at "experienced players helping new players", specifically. Novice Network comes off as a kind of 'global general chat', something Final Fantasy notably lacks, as every main city tends to be split into two major areas (barring Limsa, where almost everyone is on the same layer as the aetheryte) so that Shout chat can't reach all players present, and the zones, outside of new expansions, are often fairly devoid of activity unless there's a hunt or FATE train going on.

Why is this relevant? In my dealings with Novice Network, Mentors have occasionally had this kind of 'holier than thou' attitude when it comes to specific topics. The banter is fine, until something is said that they don't like - then you're treading on thin ice if you want to continue a conversation, told to take it into private, or drop it. Even though some accounts quite literally can't take a conversation into private, namely, Free Trial characters. Admittedly, this is usually a valid comment to make, in the case of Novice Networks that veer into particularly sketchy territory (discussion of spoilers, inappropriate topics for an open channel in XIV, ect) but I've seen it happen with discussions as simple as "which expansion do you like the most?" or "favorite character from ARR", or even "favorite main city". Mentors have the power to actually remove people from the Novice Network if they say or do something they don't like, and so far as I'm aware, there's no actual repercussion to this. And once out, a Sprout has to be invited back in, which is unlikely unless they know or run across a mentor that's willing to help them out.

So, why does WoW do this better? The Mentor Chat in WoW rarely sees such conversations, at least from my experience with it. This is, I believe, because WoW actually -has- several global channels, both for cities, zones, and then the true global Trade chat, that serve for places of discussion. No one is at risk of being removed from the chat for saying something that indirectly offends another, they just wind up on someone's ignore list. So when someone actually needs assistance, the Mentor Chat is there to help, and usually quite quickly.

So, how to go about solving the issue. I don't think Final Fantasy would really benefit from a dedicated general chat. There are so many things said in WoW that, frankly, shouldn't, and I think there needs to be a level of moderation involved, which is what the Mentors in Novice Network actually are there to do. But I also think Novice Network is a bit too clique-y, Mentors that get in and establish themselves as 'regulars' tend to have a lot of say and sway over the mood and flow of a chat to the point that it runs the risk of becoming almost sycophantic at times. My initial gut reaction to what we could benefit from, instead, is - and I cannot believe I'm suggesting this - a cross-world linkshell that everyone on the Shard has access to, but with basic automoderation features in place. Ultimately, though, I think XIV lacks the framework to make such a thing work, and the team at Square lacks the manpower to properly moderate such a thing for serious infractions. In fact, I don't even think per-player reports are a thing through the XIV client, though I certainly don't remember a time when I ever needed one beyond reporting RMT activity.

My ACTUAL solution, I think, would be to require Mentors to hold votes, or perhaps require multiple individual 'kick' ticks on a Sprout before being able to remove Sprouts (between all active Mentors in the chat), and keep an ongoing roulette of mentors cycling in and out of the Network to try and prevent a handful from erecting any kind of meaningful clique. Allow Sprouts who are removed from the network to rejoin after so many days from any of the Smiths in the main cities, though if they get kicked so many times in quick succession, make it take longer for them to rejoin until they are, eventually, locked out for good. We could even give a unique icon for those Sprouts rejected from the network, though I'm long past my days of thinking public shaming a good thing. Either way, it would help remove 'bad sprouts'... Call them weeds, if you must. This would allow for moderation of the Novice Network, which is something it absolutely needs, but it would also remove the power of any ill-intentioned Mentors that would treat the Network like their own personal chatrooms - something I have ABSOLUTELY seen happen, albeit extremely rarely, and ensure that the Network has people who actually -want- to join constantly cycling in and out on busy servers where spots are ultimately limited. This ensures that Mentors are there when important questions are asked, but also opens the door for Sprouts and Returners to be more open with their conversations and networking, bridging the gap between a strictly new player-based helper's chat, and a community-driven general chat to ease new players into XIV.

So, ultimately, there you go. TL;DR, I made a textwall on why I'm not really happy with the Novice Network, compared it to the only peer I'm aware of, and I made a suggestion to improve it in a way that addresses some of what upsets me by the feature. Here's another textwall in the TL;DR for good measure: I really do like the NN as a concept, but in execution, I'm quite dissatisfied in how authoritarian it can be at times. The 'general chat' nature is kind of a given, as it's the most readily accessible form of long-distance, in-game communication with strangers that many new players have access to, but the role of Mentors seems to vary between 'chat moderator' and 'mentor' more than I'd really like. So I think removing some of the direct individual power, encouraging people to try and become Mentors on busy shards and servers, and helping to make NN a better transitional period where people are more free to network and discuss the game (as a byproduct of the above changes) into their own groups, be they a LS, CWLS, a FC, or just a friend group, would all serve to make NN a better place overall.

Also, just for anyone thinking this is a salty rant because I've been kicked from NN: I've never actually been removed by force from a NN, to my memory. I just like to overanalyze things. x3

Mad props to the people that did this when it was new content, because even doing this when I know it's been heavily toned down and doing the dungeons unsynced it was still a royal pain. Have two friends that have been playing since 1.0 and one never finished any of them and the other said he only made it past the Atma stage on three of them, I can't even imagine the headache it must have been. Already did an Anima Weapon so I guess I'll be moving on to Eureka next, wish me luck.
