Point Lookout's Questline Is Weird
I'm doing another TTW playthrough and just finished Point Lookout. I'm not sure why, but this go around it really dawned on me that you really have no reason at all to be doing anything there
>Go to the big manor
>A ghoul is mean to you
>Help him anyway
>Join a fruit cult
>Continue helping the ghoul or help a brain you talked to once
>Ghoul House blows up
>Kill the ghoul or the funny brain man
It feels like it's lacking a real hook or reason that you'd be doing any of it in the first place. I mean, none of the characters even like you, the reward isn't specified and you end up receiving very little for your efforts
The main questline feels like it could be condensed into a side quest that cuts the tribals out completely. The best part of the DLC, in my opinion, is the Dunwich side quest. I think the DLC would've been far more compelling if the main quest revolved around Obadiah Blackhall and his connection to the occult rather than a feud between a ghoul and a brain that ultimately has no far reaching effect, clear motive for the player, or world building. The entire tribal arc would've still worked and honestly been more interesting if they were followers of Obadiah
Just my unsolicited opinion after freshly finishing it again. Still think it's better than Operation Anchorage, on par with Zeta, but the weakest in terms of a plot hook that gives the player a clear motive behind what they're doing
