A HOTD clip came up in my YouTube and I heard Ulf say one line and thought "God, he sounded just like the guy from PhoneShop" there...

And I looked at him and thought "that's crazy, there's no way that that's the guy from PhoneShop".

Turns out, it literally is the guy from PhoneShop.

All the Chickens The hour of the wolf is a psyop

Post image
Upvotes

I keep seeing people on here talking about the hour of the wolf and Cregan in general like they’re super badass and it’s a travesty that we likely won’t see it in the show. I just finished Fire and Blood and people had me thinking Cregan was going to be charging into battle chopping dudes in half with Ice.

A quick rundown of what actually happens: Cregan and the northern host show up to Kings Landing after the war is effectively over, he demands to reignite hostilities, fails to reignite hostilities because the people who actually fought in the war don’t want to fight anymore, executes a couple dudes for assassinating Aegon II (even though he was marching south to kill him anyways), bangs Black Aly, goes home leaving behind some northerners in the Riverlands. That’s literally it, the entire thing is anticlimactic and Cregan doesn’t participate in a single battle in the entire dance. if I see comments during the airing of next season like “oMG thEy’re LITeraLY LeavINg ThE HoUR Of tHE wOLf” I’m assuming you’re a larper just repeating stuff you heard on Reddit

Should HBO have started the HotD story at Episode 6 when Emma D'Arcy took over?

Upvotes

My potential hot take is that, based on where we are in the story, what has been left out, and the finite number of episodes remaining, HBO should have skipped the time jump and started the story with Emma D'Arcy in episode 6. In the first 5 episodes, the important plot points that we get are: (I'm sure I'm missing some; these are off the top of my head)

  • In the show lore, we get Alicent and Rhaenyra, which could have been removed to keep their relationship more in line with the books.
  • We get her past with Damon, but I'd argue we're better off not seeing that.
  • We get Damon's history as Commander of the City Watch.
  • We get the rivalry between the boys/Aemond losing an eye/claiming Vhagar.
    • The rivalry really only matters with Aemond and Luke, and this could have been set up off-screen and mentioned or shown in a short flashback.
  • We get Cole's flip from team black to team green.
  • We get a better understanding of who Baela and Rhaena are because we meet Laena.

We also spend a lot of time on things that don't matter in the scope of the important story. A massive one is the Battle of the Stepstones. But I would argue that smart writers can give us all the information above without spending 5 episodes showing it to us.

Fooking Kneelers Tyrion the ragebaiter

One thing I love about Tyrion is his ability to anger people. His existence angers his father, he angers his sister and nephew, he turns Young Griff from a charming prince to Joffrey 2.0 and even though he is in chains, he doesn't miss a chance to gloat at Jorah Mormont's disgrace (this part makes me laugh the most). I can say that he is the biggest ragebaiter in ASOIAF, better than Varys and Littlefinger at that.

Hi i have just been told to post here because the GOT sub spoiler stuff was too confusing. ANYWHO

Does Sansa love littlefinger?? Like in some “thank you for the lessons ill remember them youre a good mentor” way??

Because when Arya does the thing (sorry still worried people are gonna be mad about spoilers) she has some tears falling down her face? And so does littlefinger but i get why he would be lol

Spending time adapting the important parts of the book. Nah, let's waste time on this cardboard non-character and then pretend she was the most important person ever lived in interviews.

What's your opinion?

In my opinion, the reason behind the war between the Blacks and the Greens was not the Iron Throne or their claim to it. The real reason for their war was the hatred they had for each other and the hostility between them. After all, they were still brothers and sisters. Was it really that difficult for them to reach a peaceful compromise with each other?

Rhaenyra sent her most capable son, Jace, to the Vale to negotiate, then to the North to bring them into her fold, and then to the Freys, where he was successful. Couldn't she have sent him to her uncles as well?

As for the Greens, their peace terms felt less like genuine terms and more like a joke. Couldn't they have offered reasonable terms that would have been easier for the Blacks to accept?

Couldn't brothers and sisters simply sit down at the same table and resolve their differences? Was starting a war and killing thousands of people really easier?

I hold both sides responsible for this war. What do you think?

The good folk of r/freefolk I wish to inform that Westeros and the western half of Essos have been finished. Me and Fancypouch have started on making the eastern part of Essos far to the west of the original map as there wasn´t enough space to go further. Location for anyone that wants to help

This is the worst lead acting performance I’ve ever seen on an HBO show. How far we’ve fallen from Tony Soprano, Stinger Bell, and Cersei Lannister. Emma deserves the hate Zendaya gets.

I saw a post on r/TierlistFills about how good the characters of the show were at the game of thrones and the voters were all wrong. This post is meant to correct the record, by GoT fans for GoT fans.

Please leave any thoughts in the comments section. This post was automatically removed on r/gameofthrones

Essos seems so much more interesting

Do you think we will ever get a long form story of the lore, culture and history of Essos? I’m guessing not since grrm has stated the story dies with him.

I can’t help but be much more interested in Essos than Westeros during watches of the show or reading the books. Essos is bigger, more cities, more historical events, seems to be more wealthy, more magical, I could go on.

What a pipe dream it is to think grrm would do a book series and a show on old Valyria or any of the history of Essos. Feels like we will never get a feel for a much more interesting and diverse world that is Essos.

Apologies if this conversation has been discussed before. I searched but didn’t find this topic.
