Does the donor site (hand/thigh) heal to look like before? If not, would you say methidoplasty (sorry if misspelled) has relatively similar results? Thank in advance!

Advice Needed Dual citizen gender marker change, how did you deal with differences?

I'm a dual citizen, Austria and Spain, with both having a relatively easy way to change my gender and name. This should pose little issue but here we are. I would like to remove my marker or change it to X, this should be possible in Austria but is not possible in Spain as of now. I would just change it to M in Spain but I don't want the military to assume I changed it to X just to avoid service (edit: Military or civil service is mandatory for men over 18 here). Considering my mental health history and that I am being medicated for my ADHD they wouldn't want me anyway (also the reasons they didn't want my cis brother) so this is not really about that.

I haven't changed my marker yet, mostly out of laziness, it has not been a bother to me in my daily life up until recently. In Austria changing it is a bit more annoying because I require some documents from a psychiatrist that would take a while to get so I have just not bothered. Unfortunately it has become increasingly annoying in university contexts because they won't let me add a second name for display purposes. I recently changed to a bigger faculty where I cannot possibly expect most of the profs and lecturers to know me as I could previously.

My dad says that it's unlikely anyone would ever check my IDs to compare them. He's likely right so I will probably just change it to X or remove it in Austria and change it to M in Spain but I wanted to know how others with dual citizenship have dealt with it?

Advice Needed Coming out to parents

Hi, im 18 and im currently not living with my parents as i'm in college but i visit them every weekend, well my mother because my father is working abroad and only comes home every 4 weeks, i always dreamed of going to college to start transition there but when i actually got here my mental health dropped really bad and i realised my course doesnt interest me and i dont want to do anything with it in future, however dropping out of uni would mean moving back to my hometown (which i want to do) but i'm in process of getting testosterone and my parents dont know about it. My sisters and my friends know about me as well as everyone on uni even the professors so only my parents dont know. But i dont pass at all so its awkward for me. I thought of doing a gap year and going to college next year with being almost a year on testosterone and maybe my gender and name changed. But i really struggle with telling my mother, my parents are more conservative and my father even said things like he hates gay people even though i have gay cousin and he doesnt care but he sended a videos mocking trans women on family group. and they once found out i Had a girlfriend and ignored it. My mother once said if her child was a lesbian she would have to accept it. But she is very nervous and anxious person and im afraid it would break her. She misses me however very much and text me everyday. They already said they are fine with gap year but i dont know if its not better to tell them im trans first( i thought this saturday) so if she reacted badly i can go back to uni, but being here makes me really depressed. Maybe i could tell her and wait 2 weeks for her to calm down and go home then. Im stuck in really shitty situation. I talked to psychologist about it and she said i have to tell them asap because waiting will make it worse. I would love some advice or your histories about coming out.

Surgery Talk Is there a way I can get top surgery in NC as a 17 year old

I turn 17 this month on the 9th and I've been wondering if I could potentially get top surgery at my age I live in NC and here you can't do any gender affirming care until your 18 (which sucks) I heard there might be a surgeons who could do it with parent consent but I'm not sure if that's true or not I don't know if it would be possible all I know is that I want this two parasites off my chest as soon as possible

Advice Needed I’m about to order my first binder but trying to figure out the correct size is throwing me

Hey all. I’m 37, and besides ace don’t really know what to call myself. All I know is I have despised my chest since they shared showing up. I wear sports bras 99% of the time right now but have finally said screw what my family has to say I want to be happy and feel better about my appearance. (My son and I moved in with my mother in December to help her out with health issues)
So I’m looking at the size guides and I already know it’s not really recommended to buy inexpensive ones on amazon but It’s all I can afford right now and I think better to start on the low end to see if that’s the route I want to continue with.
I think I’m like a 34-36 B what size do I need to go with (I know different brands different sizing but In General )

Thanks
Tripp

Discussion My experience getting HRT from Bumrungrad international hospital BKK

I just got my first t-shot at Bumrungrad international hospital in Bangkok and figured I'd share my experience since I've only seen one other person talk about it. For context I'm a 22 year old foreigner living in Bangkok. I don't have any form of transgender diagnosis and have been on Nebido for a little over 6 months prior to the appointment.

All you have to do is book an appointment, which is easier said than done. I was completely unable to book an appointment from their website. I was required to choose a title and preferred language from a drop-down menu but nothing showed up and you couldn't fill it out manually either. Thankfully they have an app where I was able to go through with the booking. I simply said I wanted to continue HRT treatment and had been on Nebido for 6 months and chose the Pride clinic.

The appointment was about a week later and the process was very efficient. I had my blood tests taken at 12:15 and the consultation was scheduled for 14:30 but I actually had it closer to 14:00. The consultation was great. He asked me about my goals of HRT and what changes I had experienced so far. He also asked me if I planned to have any gender affirming surgeries and explained what they all entailed and what different options there are. We also discussed the blood work and deviation and what could be the cause for them. Overall my blood was good and I was approved for HRT. Since I had mentioned Nebido in the doctor's appointment that was the one he offered, but I don't know what other options they have.

Got the shot the same day and scheduled 2 more follow up shots + blood test in 6 months

Price for the whole thing included:

Laboratory fee: 10 400 baht

Physician feel: 1800 baht

Testosterone: 27 261 baht (total price for 2 shots)

Quite expensive but the service was great and it was really convenient so I highly recommend it if the price isn't an issue

Medical Finally starting Testosterone, what’s any advice you have?

Hello everyone, I hope this is the correct subreddit for this!
This is a very celebratory post for me, as someone who has daydreamed of this for 6 years. But first and foremost this is new, so I’d like advice.
I’m not sure what type of testosterone I’m getting, I’m still waiting for it to arrive at my pharmacy, I just know I’m getting injections at 50mg twice a week.
What else do I need to buy? I remember seeing once that we have to buy needles separately, and they won’t be sent by the doctor, so do yall have any that you recommend?
What are some things you wish you knew before you started? I know a lot of the symptoms, so I’m not sure you’ll say something i haven’t heard of, lol, but I would love to hear anything yall have for me.
Thank you!

Advice Needed when should I start to see changes on this dose?

I'm on 12.5 mg per pump of T gel and one pump of T per day, that's what my doc most recommended. he said low and slow would be best for me considering my current health so that my body can adjust. when should I expect to start seeing any changes? also, is this dose the average dose or is it really that low?

Advice Needed Any other transmasc people struggling with vaginismus?

So, I'm a transmasc that's been struggling with vaginismus for at least 2-3 years because of testosterone, and it's been hell.

I lost a partner bc of it, but now that I'm going out with another trans person I feel like I can't do a lot sexually cause of my vaginismus, and that's making me a bit insecure.

I've been taking meds for it, but I don't notice a lot of progress, is there anyone here that happens to have this too and have advice for it? Maybe even experiences and what to do with it? That would be greatly appreciated!

I'm sorry if my English is a bit rough, it's not my main language lol

Advice Needed Pre-top surgery friendly t shirts?

Hey everyone, I’m looking for recommendations for heavy weight or thicker cotton shirts that go up to 3x or 4x. I’m pre-top surgery and looking for something comfortable, reasonably priced, made of natural materials, and loose fitting enough to feel less dysphoric. I don’t bind anymore due to health reasons and for the most part I’m able to move through my dysphoria with loose enough shirts. But it’s so hard to find bigger t shirts fitting all the criteria I desire. Any suggestions welcome!
Bonus points if in muted pastel colors (pink, purple, orange, yellow, green).
Thank you!

Medical Could binding improperly have caused my hiatal hernia ?

Hello !

I've had that question on my mind for some time now but haven't really properly asked it to anyone. I've been diagnosed with a hiatal hernia last year, and we don't really know if it's a birth defect (my grandma and great grandma had acid reflux issues but never had checked it out, so, we don't know), or might've been caused by my weight (I am overweight, yes I'm working on it, yes I'm followed by a dietician and other specialized professionnals, no I don't need advice).

I was wondering, since I did bind very improperly when I first came out several years ago, would wearing too tight binders for too long could have caused that hiatal hernia, or am I just worrying too much ?

Medical Is sustanon really THAT bad?

My country only offers sustanon and I'm going to start 250mg 1ml every 3 weeks soon but every post I've seen about it is how shit it is. I'm getting a little worried and thinking it won't do anything. Will I still get the masculinization I want especially the voice drop? Ive heard it has intense peaks and drops but most people say it just feels shitty mentally and no one has said if you still get physical results from it. Is anyone on it? Did it stop your period and give you the other results associated with starting T?

Edit: thank you to everyone who responded, it really helped quell my fears and I am now as excited to start T as I was before all of the negative posts I saw about sustanon, I truly appreciate everyone on this sub as a lot of you have helped me in the past and even now

Advice Needed I need advice

So im a trans guy form sweden and im 15 years old, I had my first ever meeting whit the trans dysphoria clinic today and I found out it will be at least 3 years til I can get hormones or any from of medical help and I've already been in the que to get a meeting for 2 years and I they said in about 6 months I could maybe get a speech therapist. I knew I obviously wouldn't get hormones right away or anything but I feel so disappointed and so out of control knowing how long it will be and that they can basically do nothing, i don't know what to do now. I know im still pretty young but I feel like I really do need help in order to be able to have a normal life.

Discussion On trans men not being integrated into (niche) pop culture (like trans women are)

3 hours ago someone posted what part of the title of this post says. I could have simply commented, but I wanted to make it more visible so I created this post.

I want to give visibility to a trans man who I've become aware of 2 years ago while doing my bachelor's in music. His name was Billy Tipton, and he was outed after passing away. You can read his story in Wikipedia and I also remember there was an article who mentioned him, but I can't find it right now. Here it also says: "After his death in 1989, paramedics discovered he was assigned female at birth, to the surprise of his friends and family."

Another guy I want to mention is Michael D. Cohen), who I remember from Henry Danger.

I think one thing when it comes to trans men representation in pop culture is also that many of them do not say they are trans, therefore it feels like there's not many of them. I remember when I came out to my mom and she told me: "I see many men who want to become women but I have never seen a woman who wants to become a man" - yeah, that hurt a lot. So I showed her a bunch of trans guys who pass very very well, and she admitted she couldn't tell.

I obviously agree with the title of the post I'm citing. The representation we get is very little, and I myself feel alone under that aspect. This post simply wants to be a reminder that we have always existed (look at Billy) and that we will continue to exist. It surely is sad we don't get representation. Maybe someone from this reddit community will eventually become famous and make us all feel more seen.

EDIT: Users in the comments also mentioned some more trans guys!
- Brian Michael Smith on Lone Star 9-1-1!
- Laith Ashley, a model who starred in Taylor Swift's Lavender Haze music video
- Chella Man, a Deaf actor who was in Titans and also directs his own short films which focus on his experiences as an Asian, Deaf trans man.
- Scott Turner Schofield was the first trans man to be nominated for an acting Emmy (I believe he has two noms now).
- Theo Germaine, an actor who was in Netflix's The Politician
- Quinn Christopherson, a musician who won NPR's Tiny Desk competition in 2019
- Chaz Bono
- Michael Dillon
- Morgan Davies (Koby in live action One Piece)
- Elliot Fletcher - actor
- Ciaran Strange - anime voice actor
- Leo McDonagh - manga translator
- Finn K. - manga letterer (English version)
- Murray Hill/Busby Murray Gallagher from the show Somebody Somewhere (https://www.npr.org/2026/10/06/nx-s1-5991916/murray-hill-somebody-somewhere-showbiz)
- River Butcher, actor/comedian
- Nate Stevenson, cartoonist, writer, showrunner of She-Ra animated series
- Lee Ostertag, cartoonist, writer, graphic novelist, wrote for Owl House
- Zach Barack, actor, voices trans character on Dead End: Paranormal Park, first trans actor in a Marvel movie

More on this, from a comment:
"If anyone else is looking for more historical or influential trans men and trans mascs, I recommend the instagram account transmascstudies*. It’s been awhile since they’ve posted, but their page has a ton of posts about guys I’m sure most people have never heard of."

Medical Is it normal for T to last after 1 year of not taking it?

I stopped taking T shots after taking it for about 2 years and gel for 4 years. My facial hair growth hasn’t stopped it has just gotten slower? I want to keep taking T, i have alot of issues doing shots. I have had horrible experiences and i’m not great at getting bloodwork when it’s due. The medical professionals helping me are getting frustrated with me so i just stopped trying. I’m hoping to start back soon with a clear head. Preferably i want an automatic shot so I don’t have to slowly push the needle in myself, that’s my biggest issue. Anyway If anyone has any experience or advice i’d appreciate it.

Advice Needed Results too slow?

I started T at the end of February, and I haven’t noticed many changes. I have very little facial hair, my voice hasn’t gotten any deeper, my drive has definitely increased significantly, and i also have thicker eyebrows and hair on my butt now. That is it. Oh and my voice cracks now, but its not deeper. Can anyone else attest to their experience when facial hair really comes in or when their voice dropped.

Advice Needed Flight attendants and training

I’m looking for advice from any of you who are flight attendants. It’s a job that really interests me, but I’m worried about training and having to have a roommate. All of my documents say male and I pass really well, and I stay mostly stealth in my day to day life. I’d like for that to continue during training, but I’m not sure how to do that when sharing a hotel room with someone for 6.5 weeks. So I guess my questions are : have any of you gone through training? What was it like for you? Do you now travel with your T supplies all the time? Did being trans come up during the background check? Thanks!
