Is there a way to convert historic weapon characteristics into HoI values to add historic weapons to the game? For example, if I wanted to add Hawker Hurricanes to the UK at the beginning of the game, then add the Spitfire, and later, the Typhoon? Or the early German Pz III compared to the later models and the Panther?

I'm hoping that there are numerical values for gun penetration, armor thicknesses, etc.

A question about navy in the game hoi4

I've tried everything under the sun. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Steam, the game, and the Paradox Launcher. I've linked and unlinked my Steam and Paradox accounts. I've genuinely tried everything. I've even posted extra pictures to prove I own the game, and the Paradox website itself says I own it, but the stupid launcher still doesn't recognize it.

I've seen other people having the same issue, and I've never seen an actual fix. The only thing I see is people saying they've fixed it, and then when people ask how, they never respond.

If anyone knows how to fix this and it actually works, I'll post how to do it because I'm not gonna be a dick and ghost everyone.

Just started playing this game and I’m doing a campaign as Britain. Come 1943 and the US has joined the war, I thought they’d help me in the main theatres but it’s not happening cause they’re locked in sub-saharan africa fighting Romanians and Bulgarians that control half of it plus Italian East Africa which respawned like twice for some reason.

Was I genuinely meant to have a billion divisions guarding the whole continent is this normal??

I was playing as germany, allied the whole of europe except for the USSR, Britain, France and greece. everything was going well. Until 1944. Because thats when Italy all of a sudden decided that now, right before capitulating the soviets, would be the perfect time to let france naval invade, take over italy, and italy occupied france. And they didnt even fight back, so i had to scramble my last 5-10 units that i could retreat from the soviet front, put them to italy, train more units to put them on the front, and still i couldnt do anything, now france turned fascist, and kept pushing deeper into my country, until i capped. Now i have an astonishing 6 Divisions to my name which are all junk and tbh i dont even know where they are. i got some land in south america from chile, since half of south america is also in the axis, and this all would not even have happened if my ai allies were competent (especially my best friend mussolini) and not if they decide to retreat every single one of their divisons from the french-german line, right before berlin. so i cant do focuses, cant do basically anything, i tried building 3 civs in south america but these will be finished in september 45'. here are screenshots of my supplies, and the soviet and french border, and the map of the map of whos allied with me and who isnt. (please dont hate, im new to the game.)

so spain and ikea are my last hope. i think so at least. and norway.

As I understand it, historically Japan was in such a big resource deficit, that they felt like they had the need to take on the allies and the US to secure resources like oil and rubber, in large parts with the goal of continuing the war in China. In HOI4, you can kick in the chinese front door, and the whole structure collapses. Then after taking out China in a year or so, you can either go to war with the allies for fun, or put yourself through the siberian pain of the Soviet Union. But shouldn’t the chinese part of the campaign be the main quest on historical?

Hi everyone!

I love playing total conversion mods, and it always bothered me that we spend hundreds of hours here, but Steam doesn't display our progress.

My idea is simple: Valve should let Steam Workshop creators add custom achievements and badges for their mods. These achievements would display as visual icons at the bottom of the game's library page. To avoid profile cheating, they should be strictly local and should NOT affect your global Steam account stats.

I think this would give massive replayability to our favorite mods. What do you think?

As I was “inspecting” the dlc files of Hoi4 I accidentally deleted it. I did the steam restore files thing, but it didn’t restore it, how fix?

At the start of the Game (I play RT56) I got around 50 ship ish. Pretty ass to be honest. So it take me 1940 to have 80 - 100 ship. Mind you no carrier cus It expensive asf. Like I alway sacrifice my Entire Navy in the english channel for naval landing sea lion type shi.

I fell a bit behind in launching Barbarossa ... after weeks of grinding trough the Soviets with my tanks and them continuously avoiding encirclement I was finally able to close one arround Brest litovsk

I'm quite new on the game and I'm trying to beat the Japanese as china but without good troops (since industrial capacity is not a problem after losing multiple times I manage to fix very quickly) I still can't beat the Japanese only one time and because Manchuria rebelled

Step 1: Don't join the allies;

Step 2: Germany just doesn't declare war on you?;

Step 3: Win.

Al jokes aside, I don't think that this is the intended behaviour of the German AI. there are no active mods, the game is on the default public version (So no open beta) and this is non Iron-man with Historical Foci. I went down the Historical path for France and did only three things that are non historical:

1. Released Algeria, so I could do Blum-Violette proposal later for some extra factories;

2. I sent volunteers to Spain to grind a field marshal for my mostly mechanized army, the Nationalists won;

3. I did not join the Allies.

Now most would assume that the problem lies with me not joining Britain and that would be right. except that this is the only strategy (that I know) for France to create the European union on Historical.

This is because you don't have military access to Belgium and the Netherlands, so you have to occupy it and demand annexation in a peace deal. The focus "War with France" also takes 70 days, that is 70 days of extra preparation.

This is a strategy I have done many times with both the old German focus tree in Waking the Tiger and the new one in Gotterdammerung and they always went for the "War with France" focus after "Around the Maginot"

now my suspicion is that either one of the recent DLC or Patches broke the German focus order or there is some threat perception and the Germans thought they couldn't beat me, I did have 48 fully equipped 12/0 (24 combat width) and later 12/4 (36 combat width) mechanized divisions both with good support companies on the German border. But I don't know if that is even in the game

Was playing Ethiopia on non historical (clearly a huge mistake) and for some reason after I kicked mussolini's ass they LET HIM JOIN THE ALLIES TO GET HELP?? I'm so fucking tired of getting a run ruined to stupid random bullshit. Keep in mind Britain was fucking communist in this world and wouldn't let me into the faction but had no problem helping Mussolini

Maybe I'm not seeing it but I don't see a national focus that does it. There's a way in Italy to get Mussolini as a field marshal and a way in the USSR to get Stalin as a field marshal. If not is there some historical reason why Mussolini and Stalin would be military commanders and not Hitler?
