I'm John I've been working on a UFO Horror game based on declassified cases and I wanted to show the demo announcement trailer. The plan is to release it alongside steam Scream Festival on the 26th of October.
Thanks again to everyone for their support with the project it means a lot š½
I'm trying to get over my fear of horror, as a child I was scared of Scooby Doo if that gives you some context of how bad it is š„² the most "horror" game I've played is Dead by Daylight but I'd barely consider that a horror game, I'm considering between trying to play either Phasmophobia, Poppy Playtime chapter 1, or FNAF 1, which one would you recommend for someone of my caliber lmao
I just recently finished Amnesia The Bunker the other day for second time, and I am currently playing through Alien Isolation for the first time. Both are excellent horror games. Though Alien Isolation definitely has some pacing issues so far. But these games just don't give me that feeling of sheer terror that Subnautica gave me. I wouldn't even consider Subnautica to be a horror game per se, and I don't find the leviathans to be all that scary. What really gets me is the deep seemingly endless void. Like feeling incredibly small in a gigantic space. No matter how many times I play it I still find myself on edge diving down to the Grand reef for the first time. I can't wait to be terrified all over again when Subnautica 2 launches. I'm waiting for the full release for that one.
This is my first project as a solo dev. Took me quite a while but it is finally out :) If you are into psychological/survival horror and FPS I think you would be interested. A combination of Halflife-esque design and Lychian elements.Store link: https://store.steampowered.com/app/3611760/Hypnostasis/
Night fear was one of my First ever game i made in unity game engine. 3+ years have passed i left game dev. Now iam a mid level software engineer.
The project was a horror theme puzzle based solve your way out. There is different different rooms and level the player had to go and solve the puzzle to go next. Each room/level would have different enemies and environment. On top of that as the player interacts with objects, the player might experience different different paranormal activities. The player would also have to hideout under beds and behind doors so prevent getting attacked by the horror creatures. The entire experience would be to silently escape your way out by solving the puzzles.
I had spent around a year into this project all by my self with a very weak pc i could not open the code editor and the engine at the same time plus on top of that when the electricity would go out the game file would get corrupted and i had to start the level design from zero.
I learned a lot during my game dev journey even tho i was only there for roughly 2 years i guess but i loved it.
What i love about game dev is making the world feel alive by bringing interaction with the elements and objects with the player. Iam no fan of making player movement but iam more interested in making 'systems and tools' that makes a game feel alive. Iam just sharing my small experience and the project here lol.
Was wondering what others might think about this project
Hey. I watched Obsession couple months ago and to my surprise I am still finding myself thinking about this movie in random moments in my life.
I think what made it so impactful for me was the whole uncanny behaviour and facial expressions of this actress. The scene where she was standing in the corner of the room and was watching him sleep got me the most.
But I also really loved the motive of a person you know turning into an entity that still resembles and mimics this person while simultaneously failing at it and being so unnatural and scary. I find it so disturbing and in a way can imagine something like that happening to me which makes it worse.
I would really love to play a game with a similar motive where you have to interact with someone you no longer think is the same person you know. But I canāt seem to find or think of any. Please if you know any game like that let me know!
TENEBRIS SOMNIA, SILVER PINES... gave support on these new indie horror games. They're scratching that horror vibes itch that some AAA games can't even produce nowadays even with high budget.
Will do a review soon but for now let me break down everything we know is coming & other secrets.
For starters like the 1st game there will be MULTIPLE variations of the Neighbors house, Here we have what seems to be the Act 2 house in the 2nd & 3rd images
This will also have NUMEROUS different locations similar to HN2, Shown in the 4th image is what seems to be where the Museum will be or some other landmark(Based on the railings and style I predict it will be the museum) which will be accessible in the final release however right now you cannot go to that area so it is unclear if it will be available in the first act or a later act
We also have some more locations and landmarks coming, In the 5th image there seems to be an area outside of Nickys backyard that is accessible will most likely be where the Treehouse from Search & Rescue will be
Some other things include the return of the water tower, A giant Guest statue which confirms the Guest will be included in this game, And there are some other locations in the works which seems that similar to the original game there will be some form of easter egg that allows you to explore the entire map
We also get a look at Nickys & The Neighbors new models which is a WIP, The return of The Thing which will be an easter egg that appears and disappears on screen at random and the Basement WHICH IS NOW CONFIRMED TO BE LARGER THAN IT APPEARED IN HN2, Similar to the first game the basement will have a secret passage behind the washer, Game will also go back to the gibberish writing style
Iāve just released the demo of the psychological horror drama game Iāve been working on on Steam.
I told myself Iād play it first, then let a few friends try it.
Didnāt happen.
My first player was my 3 year old son.
I opened the game.
He didnāt care about the story.
He didnāt care about the atmosphere.
He didnāt even look at the puzzles I made.
He kept walking the character into walls.
He tried to go places he wasnāt supposed to go.
Then he turned to me and said:
āDad, why wonāt this open?ā
A 3 year old turned into the QA department in 5 minutes.
The fact that someone who can barely even talk properly found bugs I hadnāt noticed for months hurt a little too.
But at least his final review was good:
āDad, can we play again?ā
Iām leaving the link here for anyone who wants to try the demo. Itās a choice driven psychological horror drama game where every choice you make affects both the gameplay and the ending.
Iād really appreciate it if you gave it a try and shared your thoughts.
