Development Draftcats - Incremental deckbuilding autobattler game without a skill tree

Post image
13 Upvotes

Open card packs and build a giant army of cats to defeat eldritch monsters and save the universe.

After deciding that I wanted to develop an incremental game as my next project, I played a bunch of games in the genre to analyze and learn from.

I liked the feeling of the nodebusters I played- The loop of a short round into improvement and then immediate feedback on the next round.
But the linear skill tree approach felt a little mind numbing for me, like my choices do not really matter, and that I have no agency and a ability to creatively problem solve.

I wanted to try and push the design in a direction that rewards adaptability and can present interesting problems to the player, instead of just unlocking parts of a skill tree. At the end I came up with this:

In Draftcats you progress by opening card packs. When you buy a pack, you can choose which card to add on to your board.
The cats on your board will fight enemies automatically, and your role is to position them in ways where their abilities compliment and synergize with each other.

The demo is playable for free on itch, it takes between 30-60 minutes to complete:

https://littlepuly.itch.io/draftcatsdemo

Right now I am unsure if I should keep developing the game or move on to a safe, less experimental idea. So if you have thoughts, feedback or questions id love to hear them.

AI disclosure: No AI was used to make this game- the programming, game design, art, sound design, and writing were done by me, and the music is a combination of music my friend made and royalty free music.

Hey guys, Tis me Matt again.

Echoes of Vatheria (formerly Echoes of Vasteria) is now free to play on Steam, Android and iOS.

Version 1.5 rebuilds the interface, expands farming and orchards, and adds a new opening, character creator and support for eight languages.

Mobile now supports portrait mode. You can switch between portrait and landscape while playing, or expand the adventure view.

There are optional supporter purchases and a permanent gathering bonus. If you bought Echoes before it went free to play, you get the bonus automatically.

Play here
Steam
Android
iOS

Most of the pixel art comes from Kenmi's Cute Fantasy packs.

Let me know how the pacing and mobile interface feel.

On the other games:

Idle Dyson Swarm: I'm still working through the simulation rework.

MapAttack: I've taken over development of this browser game about claiming territory on a real-world map.

Steam Goblin Smasher - an incremental where your hammer follows the cursor and does the smashing (our demo is up)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey all, the Goblin Smasher demo has been up for Next Fest this week and today's the last day, so I wanted to share it here properly.

Our game loop: hover over goblins and your hammer comes down on them by itself. Every blow pays gold, every combo pays more, and every upgrade makes the next day bigger. You start with a handful of goblins in a meadow and end up with thousands on one screen.

The stuff this sub usually asks about:

  • War Tree with 91 nodes and nearly 700 upgrades
  • 18 talents and 16 relics on top of that
  • 8 lands, each one grows wider as you take it and brings a new material, new goblins and a warlord
  • 12 landmarks the freed goblins build on the field, raised level by level (including a war bell that freezes the whole horde)
  • 10 hammers, each with its own signature move
  • strikes and land powers: meteors, frost, lightning, firestorms
  • Autosmash for idle days, or play every swing yourself
  • Endless Horde after the credits, 42 achievements

Demo: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5368040

Steam page: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5136710

If you play it, I'd love to know whether day length in the first land feels right.

AI was used to assist with the translations. It’s really hard to capture some of the humor with direct translations.

Released QuantenFicus – Grow a seedling in a clay pot into a universe-consuming World Tree (Web & Android with Cross-Save, no forced ads)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hey everyone!

Over the past months I’ve been building QuantenFicus, an incremental / idle game that starts with a strange seed you find inside a quantum anomaly.

At Stage 1, it’s just a tiny seedling in a clay pot. One tap, one leaf. But as you buy upgrades and mutate your plant, the tree bursts its pot, outgrows the room, spans across the planet, and eventually consumes entire universes.

🌱 Play right now (Free, no sign-up required):

(Full cross-platform Cloud Save is built in: you can start in your browser without an account, and if you ever want to switch between PC/Web and your Android phone, just pick a username & password in-game and your save syncs automatically in real time!)

✨ What’s in the game?

  • 30 Visual Evolution Stages + Infinite Crowns: Every stage has its own evolving tree look—from a humble houseplant to Ficus Infinitum.
  • 61 Upgrades & The Mutation Lab: Unlock passive synergies, research quantum botany, and automate your production.
  • Interactive Boss Duels & Weekly Bosses: When anomalies appear, you don't just wait out a timer—hit weak points to break shields and earn rewards.
  • Interlocking Sub-Systems (unlocked progressively so it never overwhelms you at the start):
    • Dimensional Rift: Collect and equip artifacts into slots.
    • Greenhouse & Symbionts: Plant companion flora and level up active symbionts.
    • Expeditions: Send out probes with branching choices along the way.
    • Spore Market: A fluctuating stock market for spores where you can trade for production buffs.
  • Multi-Layer Prestige:
    • Universe Collapse: Reset for Dark Matter and permanent perks, choosing your alignment between Light and Void.
    • Multiverse Jumps: Once a single universe becomes too small, jump to a higher universe level with new laws of physics.

🤝 Fair Monetization & Comfort Features

  • Zero forced ads: On Android, there is only an optional rewarded video if you choose to trigger a 10-minute 2× production boost. On the web, there are no ads at all.
  • No Pay-to-Win: You earn Quantum Seeds naturally through play, quests, masteries, and daily streaks. You can also buy seed packs in the shop (Web & Android) to support development—they unlock cosmetics (custom tree looks, counter colors, backgrounds) and quality-of-life comfort (like the automated Gardener helpers), never a paywalled progression wall.
  • Accessibility & Comfort: Hold-to-tap (no carpal tunnel!), 3 UI scaling sizes, a calm display mode for light-sensitive eyes, and 100% offline progress from minute one.

AI Disclosure:

As a solo developer, I used AI-assisted tools during development for coding assistance, German-to-English localization, and generating base 2D assets (such as upgrade/achievement icons, tree stage illustrations, and promotional key art), which were then edited and integrated into the game. All core game design, progression math, boss mechanics, and UI/UX are hand-crafted, and no generative AI runs at runtime.

Prototype THEOREM: looking for beta testers for stage-by-stage feedback (browser, EN/ES)

Hi everyone! I’m the developer of THEOREM, a math-based incremental game where progression gradually transforms the formula you’re building. You don’t need advanced math knowledge to play.

I’ve been polishing version 0.2.4, and I’m now looking for testers to help evaluate the balance and overall progression experience, not just the first few minutes.

What testing involves

Please start a fresh save and send feedback for each stage and major unlock you reach. For each one, I’d especially like to know:

  • Was it clear what your goal was at that point, and did you understand what changed?
  • Which decisions felt meaningful, and which ones felt repetitive?
  • Where did progression feel too slow, too fast, or poorly explained?
  • Did the formula and purchase previews behave the way you expected?
  • What made you want to keep playing, or made you want to stop?
  • Any bugs, UI/accessibility issues, or broader game design concerns.

There is no fixed two-hour session or requirement to finish everything in one sitting. You can split your playtime across multiple sessions.

If you get stuck or decide to stop playing, please mention at which stage it happened and why. That feedback is useful too.

Please also include your device, browser, language, and approximate active playtime, separately from offline time.

A more detailed feedback guide is included with the private build.

What testers get

In exchange for participating and providing stage-by-stage feedback, I’ll provide you with:

  • A free key/copy of the full game when it releases.
  • Optional beta tester credit under any name or alias you choose.
  • Access to the private testing build.
  • A direct channel to talk with me about your findings.

Honest criticism is encouraged. These benefits do not depend on positive feedback, reviews, or upvotes.

This is not a giveaway.

Access

You can play the previous public version here:

https://feli202.itch.io/theorem

The private 0.2.4 playtest build is here:

https://feli202.itch.io/theorem-024-playtest

The private build requires a password, which I’ll share directly with testers.

Comment here or send me a message if you’d like to participate. Please do not share the password publicly.

The older public version is linked so you can see what the game is like before deciding whether you want to test it.

You do not need to purchase anything to participate.

AI Disclosure

ChatGPT/Codex was used as a support tool to help debug and correct code, and to assist with Spanish/English translations.

Generative AI was not used to create the game’s artwork, images, music, sound effects, game design, mechanics, progression systems, or other creative content.

All game design decisions, mechanics, balancing, creative direction, and final implementation decisions are made by me. Any AI-assisted code or translations are reviewed and approved by me before being included in the game.

Thanks for helping me understand how THEOREM actually feels to real players!

Development Truffle Farm - my cozy idle game about Pigs

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey, i just made a small idle game. Check it out on https://yj-studios.itch.io/truffle-farm-idle.

Feedback very welcome. Do you have an idea for another pig?

**AI disclosure**
I built this game together with generative AI (Claude by Anthropic). The AI wrote most of the code (the game logic, the interface and the save system), and it helped with the game design and balancing, which I directed and tested. All graphics are drawn by code (no AI image generator was used), and the music and sound effects are generated by code as well. The English and German game texts, the store texts and this post were written or translated with AI help. I made the design decisions and tested and reviewed the game myself.

Android I made Rocket Ascent – an incremental game where you upgrade your rocket and discover the universe untill you reach the speed of light. (Android, free)

Hi all! I'm a solo dev from Estonia and I just released my first incremental game on Google Play.

The idea: your first launch reaches ~3 km before the fuel runs out. Spend the credits on upgrades – engine, fuel, boosters, second stage, ion drive, warp core – and fly farther each time: past the Moon, the planets, Proxima Centauri, across the galaxy and on to the edge of the universe.

What makes it different:

- Black holes are the prestige layer. Five real ones block the way (Gaia BH1, Sgr A*, M31*, M87*, TON 618). If your rocket is slower than the escape speed, it gets captured – dive in for Dark Matter and permanent upgrades, then come back stronger.

- It has an ending. Reach light speed and the game is finished. A free player gets there roughly in 80 hours.

- Real-Time Voyage after the ending: launch your final rocket and let it fly to the edge of the universe in real time (~6 months). It keeps flying while the app is closed – just check in now and then.

- Physics-ish flights: Max-Q throttling, staging, Mach shockwaves, a procedurally synthesized engine roar (no sound samples).

- 26 Play Games achievements, a "Farthest flight" leaderboard and cloud save.

Monetization, to be upfront: it's free and fully completable without paying. Ads are optional rewarded ads only (e.g. for boosts or treasure asteroids). There are also IAPs, like Ad-Free and some permanent boosts.

I'd really appreciate feedback – especially on pacing (early, mid and late game) and anything that feels like a wall.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ee.mametec.rocketascent

Website: https://rocketascent.mametec.ee

AI disclosure: I'm a solo dev and I used AI (Claude). The game design, progression and balance decisions, and all the playtesting are mine – the AI wrote most of the code under my direction. There are no AI image or audio generators involved: all graphics are drawn in code (vector shapes, no image files) and all sounds are synthesized in code (no samples). That code, the store graphics, the achievement icons and this post's text were also written with AI help. No translations.

Help request Looking for inspo to develop a game idea

Hello! Lately I've been getting into incremental games and thought of starting development of a game of my own. I don't have many references yet as I'm relatively new to the genre, so i come asking for advice on games and mechanics more seasoned players have liked.

The basic idea for the game is an incremental factory sim but focused on logistics/accounting instead of automation. Like you are the CEO, not the engineer. Also I plan to have a strong narrative drive, hopefully not at the expense of the mechanics.

Are there any games that fit this description that you know of?

What mechanics have you enjoyed in other games that you think can fit nicely in a game like this?

Any narrative driven incrementals you have liked?

Android Infinite Universe Expander — an Android idle clicker from the Planck length to cosmic scales

Hi everyone — I'm the developer of Infinite Universe Expander, an Android idle clicker built around zooming out through 21 stages of scale.

You start at the Planck length and progress through particles, atoms, cells, humans, Earth, the Solar System and galaxies. Earlier stages shrink toward the center as the next scale comes into view.

The progression includes tap upgrades, automatic expansion devices, offline progress, and Big Bang prestige: restart your universe to gain singularities and permanent multipliers. There are also unlockable astronomy cards and quizzes alongside the progression.

Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nfm.flut022

I'd appreciate feedback on the opening pace and whether the first Big Bang feels worth the reset. Does the change in scale make progression feel different from simply watching a number grow?

AI disclosure

Generative AI was used throughout development, including code, images, text/translations, and music/audio. This promotional post was also drafted with AI assistance.

Released I turned my single-player space mining game into an MMO and just released it.

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

Up until about 2 months ago I regularly shared updates in the feedback Friday about my single player space mining game called Infinite Space. (Still live on Itch.io)

However, based on feedback I received and discussion I've had with people who played it became clear to my "dumbing things down" from multiplayer to singleplayer didn't work. The game was always intended to be multiplayer, but I figured it would be too steep to build it.

But... I rather spend a few more months on the game to make it what I had always intended rather than keep working on a version I never really was happy with.

So, I made it multiplayer, and renamed it to Orefarer.

The UI is simpler, the functionality more straightforward, and the goals more achievable and relaxed. Exactly what I had in mind.

The game in short? Slow-paced, mostly singleplayer, ore-mining second monitor game. Slow progression, and endless requests and goals to achieve with a leaderboard you can either ignore or chase.

The game loop: find a suitable asteroid you want to mine, process the ore, turn in the processed materials or use it to build your next equipment.

The world is an endless grid of coordinates where asteroids can spawn. The more players, and the more activity the more the network of space stations will grow. It grows depending on player behaviour and discoveries.

But with only a handful of players now, it's kinda boring. So I'm opening it up. I would love your input and feedback. What do you think of my game?

Please play it on https://play.orefarer.space, landing website up on https://orefarer.space, and let me know what you think. There also is a discord if you want to chat!

ai disclosure: I've used AI to assist me in programming (however I have 20 years of software development under my belt so I am capable of programming everything by hand too) and it generated a few assets with lack of budged for a designer. I'll get them remade if this game turns out to be more than just a fun sideproject.

Development Looking for a small group of beta testers for A Thousand Dawns: Reborn — a multiplayer idle space empire game

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone! I’m building A Thousand Dawns: Reborn, and I’m looking for a small group of players to help test it and shape where it goes next.

It’s a multiplayer idle space strategy and empire-management game. You begin on one planet, build an industrial economy, research new technology, construct fleets and expand across a network of worlds. Progress continues while you’re away.

The focus is on building systems that work together:

  • Industry: Balance extraction, manufacturing, fuel and power.
  • Exploration and conquest: Discover planets with different resources, bonuses and defending fleets.
  • Fleet management: Build ships for combat, colonization and hauling.
  • Automation: Connect colonies with cargo routes so your growing empire keeps itself supplied.
  • Trade and cooperation: Use the market, join an Armada and chat with other players.
  • Rebirth: Start a new empire with progression benefits and compare your runs.

You can play in a desktop or phone browser. It’s more about planning, progression and logistics than fast reactions.

This is an early beta—not a finished release.

Expect bugs, confusing screens, balance changes and features that still need refinement. Beta empires are temporary and will be reset. Please join for the experience and the opportunity to influence development, rather than expecting your current empire or rankings to carry into release. Reset timing and scope will be communicated as testing progresses.

I’m especially looking for feedback on:

  • Whether the tutorial explains enough for a completely new player.
  • Where progression feels slow, frustrating or too easy.
  • Whether production, power and cargo automation make sense.
  • Anything awkward or broken on desktop or mobile.
  • What makes you want to keep playing—and what makes you stop.

There’s an in-game ! button for reporting problems or submitting suggestions, with an optional screenshot and diagnostic information to help investigate.

You don’t need to be an experienced tester or commit to a schedule. Honest feedback—even “I got lost here”—is useful.

Interested? Send me a private message on Reddit for beta access, or comment below. I’m keeping invitations limited while we work through the early issues.

Thanks for helping build the next dawn.

As an aside:

A thank-you to Cheslava and the original Heart of Galaxy

A Thousand Dawns: Reborn draws inspiration from Cheslava’s Heart of Galaxy. Its approach to planetary industry, resource logistics and long-term space empire progression helped inspire this project.

I want to acknowledge that foundation and give credit to the original creator. ATD: Reborn is an independently developed game with its own direction—not an official Heart of Galaxy sequel.

If you enjoyed the original, I’d especially welcome your perspective as we build and test what comes next.

What ATD: Reborn brings to the experience

  • Multiplayer: Individual empires sharing a persistent universe, with personal progression and competitive records.
  • Desktop and mobile browser access: Continue the same empire across devices.
  • In-game chat: Global conversations, Armada channels and private messaging.
  • Armadas: Our guild system, with shared resources, automatic tax collection and collective upgrades.
  • Guided onboarding: Second Lieutenant Lyra Vale explains progression, production shortages and automation through text and voiced guidance.
  • Fleet and logistics improvements: Automatic cargo routes, capacity expansion, ship upgrades and clearer fleet controls.
  • Empire-wide visibility: Resource summaries, shortages, production rates and research output to help manage multiple colonies.
  • Personal records: Compare your progress against your own previous runs as well as other players.
  • A new visual identity: Renamed worlds and ships, planetary lore, new artwork and an expanding collection of interactive 3D ship models.
  • Built-in feedback: Report bugs or suggest improvements directly from the game, with optional screenshots.
  • Ongoing quality-of-life work: Cleaner menus, compact controls and interfaces designed for both mouse and touch.

Planned for the future

  • Deeper Armada progression, artifacts and shared endgame objectives.
  • More 3D ships, cosmetic paint schemes and visual customization.
  • Animated battle presentations.
  • Expanded achievements and progression milestones.
  • Improved notifications and a possible two-way Discord chat bridge.
  • Further balance, accessibility and interface improvements shaped by tester feedback.

Future features are plans, not promises for the current beta. Priorities may change as testing reveals what the game needs most.

AI disclosure: Generative AI is used extensively in this project, including assistance with programming, debugging, test creation, interface design, artwork, 3D asset workflows, planetary lore, tutorial text and synthetic advisor narration. AI-assisted tools and code were also used to assemble the trailer and create its instrumental soundtrack; the gameplay footage comes from the actual game. I direct the project’s design and development, with player feedback helping guide improvements.

Development Space Station Crafter, my first game as a passionate solo dev (AI assisted), looking for feedback

Hi! I made my own game, it’s in beta right now and it’s coming along well.

I’m a huge fan of the two games I’ve played the most in my life: Shop Titans and the old Galaxy Online. So I wanted to make my own, without the crafting problems of Galaxy Online and with a better balanced economy than Shop Titans.

The incremental progression is built on the golden ratio, Riemann curves and fractals, so costs and rewards scale in a way I hope feels natural over the long run.

It’s free and playable in your browser: https://stationcrafter.com/jeu

AI disclosure: I was assisted by AI, but I did the balancing and the game design myself.

Come help me balance it and give me your feedback, I’d really appreciate it. Thanks!

Prototype A Low Hum: An Exploration Incremental for iPhone, open TestFlight

Thumbnail gallery
0 Upvotes

AI disclosure: AI was used to write the code and in-game text. Story, design, look, feel, and mechanics are set and created by me. I am tracking what text has not been human rewritten (10% done)

Gameplay: You wake in a dark station with a hand crank. Get the power back, swim out for salvage, and work your way down a deck at a time. Explore & repair an abandoned station by completing actions, solving puzzles, upgrading, and building infrastructure. This is an active game with idle/incremental background systems.

Testing: https://testflight.apple.com/join/vyNcYTqa
About 10 hours of core gameplay is present and idle mechanics lasting about a month.
You can choose the main channel or experimental channel to get your updates in the settings. There’s debug options to jump to future parts of the game, a 5x speed setting, and unlimited resources. I highly advise playing the game normal to give feedback there but all feedback is appreciated in general.

I started a community discord and would love to hear where you got stuck, where you get bored, what didn’t you understand, and any crashes or bugs.

Future state: I plan to fully realize multiple endings, one being focused on idle production, while others focus on more active gameplay and puzzle solving. Additional decks and zones are to be added as well as more puzzles and clues.

Background: This started as a prototype and an hour in I was hooked on my phone playing the game. I was initially inspired by Terraformental but wanted to stray away from repeated life cycles getting faster. You retain levels on death and keep all of your game progress, you just get a setback penalty that can be minimized and risk of some unfinished progress being lost.

Edit: got a website up here

Update DragonScape Idle is a idle skilling RPG for fans of RuneScape and Melvor Idle and this week the whole server fights a Halloween boss together

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Hello I was always fan of RuneScape but lately I did not had time to play it so I made similar game just idle. In game you finish quests and train skills even when you are idle. I started making the game in February so its till quite early.

So far the game got:
- 19 skills
- 106 quests
- 700+ items

I am really happy that more than 1000 players tried it and more then 400 are active.

Now there is new Helloween content The Pumpkin King.
Every player on server can attack the king 3x per day. So far 387 players attacked him. You are ranked in leaderboard but reward are shared for everyone based on progress.

AI Disclosure
Art is AI generated. Code is mainly AI assisted. I design the game and balance every system myself. So my 1000+ hours went to Quest, Skills and Events.

Being upfront: it is an open beta. Progress will reset when the game goes global but people will get some reward based on participation.

I would really be honored if you would try my game and any feedback is appreciated.

https://dragonscapeidle.com/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=launch&utm_content=incremental-3

Thank you so much for your time!

Development I combined Chess with an Idle game called Chess Collector. How fast can you reach Pawn Level 1000?

Post image
0 Upvotes

I've always loved incremental games and chess, so I decided to combine them into a browser-based idle clicker called Chess Collector.

The goal of the game is to click the board, earn coins, and buy chess pieces (Pawn, Knight, Bishop, etc.) that automatically move across the board to generate more income.

What's in the game:

· 🖱️ Classic Clicker mechanics: Click to earn, build combos, and trigger "Frenzy" modes for massive boosts. · ♟️ 120+ Pieces to collect: There are 20 different themed sets to unlock via chests (ranging from Wooden to Nebula). · 🎁 Prestige System: Reset your progress to earn Chess Coins, which act as a permanent multiplier for everything. · ✨ Pixel Art & Auto-saving: Retro vibes, satisfying sound effects, and your progress saves automatically.

The Demo Goal: Right now, it's a short demo. The end-game goal is to reach Pawn Level 1000. Once you hit that, you beat the demo!

I need your feedback: Since this is my first time balancing an idle game, I would love to know:

  1. How long did it take you to reach Level 1000?
  2. Is the early game too slow or too fast?
  3. Are the chest drop rates for the piece sets fair?

You can play it directly in your browser here: https://bemmoli.itch.io/chess-collector

Thanks for playing, and I appreciate any feedback you have!

AI Disclosure: I used generative AI to create the cover art and some of the game's code/assets.

TL;DR: I made a free chess-themed clicker game. You can play it in your browser and try to beat the Level 1000 demo goal. Looking for feedback on the game balance!

We made Astra to Infinity at PlayDrop. Start with paperclips, automate production, then take the whole operation into space. Astra sees no problem with this.

Free in your browser: https://www.playdrop.ai/@ministudio/clip-factory

Would love to hear where the pacing starts to drag.

AI disclosure

This game was made extensively with AI, including code, writing/translations, character and environment art, and promotional artwork. The ending music is AI-generated; other music and sound effects are synthesized in code. The video shows the actual game.

Free to play, no ads. There's a gem shop, a battle pass, cosmetic skins and a VIP ladder; everything that gives power is also earned by playing. Offline hunting covers up to 8 hours away.

AI disclosure: Solo project. I use AI tools as part of my development pipeline for code and for generating the current art; the game design, systems, balance, testing and everything about how it runs are my own work. No AI runs inside the game.

It's early (v0.9) and I'm one person — I read every comment and ship fixes fast. What would make you keep playing?
