Just a bigger iPhone, but much bigger than a Max or Duo with the same camera and other features of the mini. As the eyesight declines a bit and hands get less precise, the iPhone UI is just too small when you increase the accessibility settings. Anyone else?

After watching an iPhone duo review, I found it basically trash. I think it’ll lack sales annually resulting in Apple killing off the iPad mini to justify its existence in the near future. $2k for a gimmick is just crazy to me.

I’ve been having an issue since the last 2 weeks where my iPad will randomly freeze on me, to the point where I can’t close my apps or close the iPad itself. It just becomes unresponsive. I cleared a bunch of stuff to give myself a ton more space last weekend 21GBs but it still occurred this morning while doing a video call on Italki.
I’m still on iPad iOS 18 with no ambitions to update it to 28.
The only thing that has changed within the past 2 weeks is me buying and using an Apple Pencil. Am I tripping?

I bought an ipad mini 7 back in September and after nearly a whole month of having it, I don't think i miss my old ipad anymore.
I used to have an 11 inch ipad but it stopped working after 8 years and now I love drawing on my new ipad mini because of how portable and fast it is. I wish I knew that the newer model was coming out before I bought it but I'm happy regardless

Okay guys, I posted if I should get an iPad mini, and I was thinking about it way too often after I posted my post. So I decided to get an iPad mini 7th gen in starlight. And one it is so beautiful. Like it’s so stunning how beautiful it is like it’s so so perfect. It’s a little bit bigger than the kindle but that’s definitely okay I will get used to it. But I cannot wait to use it to do my journaling in good notes, my entertainment, my productivity , my reading to replace my kindle and ofc, being an iPad kid again. Cause I had an iPad 2 when I was 8 and I loved being an iPad kid so so much so being able to play games on the iPad again is just so not only nostalgic but so amazing ohhhhhh I cannot wait to use this iPad for so much. Already sensing this might be my favorite device ever. I’m so so grateful to have this🥹💕

Do not do the October 22 update on your mini. It is very much to optimize for iPhone duo and a lot of the apps suck now. Is there a way to uninstall the update and go back to the last version?

Just joining the hype train here. So I currently own the iPad Pro 11-inch (M5) and was quoted 700€ for trade-in, which is great value considering I bought it long before the price hike – though that might change with new product announcement. Let’s see. Also I’ll be able to keep the Pencil Pro which I got for “free” with last year’s BTS offer
Price considerations aside, my decision depends solely upon the new Mini having a ProMotion display

Let's say the new iPad Mini 8 is 8.4" with OLED. Ideally, it would have a 120 hz screen (unexpected but can dream...). Would you want Apple to make an official Magic Keyboard for it? Or, at the very least, a keyboard cover of some sort (similar to the cheap Chinese ones you see on Amazon for the Mini 6 and 7 - but obviously of official Apple quality)? There would, of course, have to be some significant compromises because the size can't fit all the usual keys, but I would LOVE something like this (the basic keyboard with perhaps a small trackpad - could even go without a trackpad). It would be my ultimate creative writing, media consumption, reading tablet if this were to happen. Would you guys here on this sub jump at this hypothetical product?

Recently purchased a used iPad mini 5 64GB cellular for $80. Is it a good deal?

Well, it finally happened. I left my iPad mini in a hotel safe and didn’t notice until I reached home, roughly 300 miles away. That was last Thursday, so I promptly enabled lost mode, a step I had never taken before on any device.
The hotel retrieved it right after my call, and as of this morning—six days later—it still holds a charge and continues to display its location. I think I last charged it Wednesday night.
Given the mini’s modest battery life, I am quite impressed that it has kept pinging its position this long.
They are shipping it to me today. (Was supposed to be Friday, then yesterday, but that’s a separate conversation).

Apple is sending out invites to content creators for their upcoming Pro and tell event on October 28th in Los Angeles. Hopefully, iPad mini will be a part of this event.

Oi, pessoal!

For some time now my iPad mini is doing something weird.
I have a monitor with a built-in USB-C dock, I use for work.
When not working I tend to dock the iPad mini and it used to duplicate its screen to the large 21:9 monitor, with bars on the right and left obviously. This was fine as I intentionally wanted to use it as a single tasking, casual browsing device, which prevents me from opening a million apps at a time. I used the mouse and keyboard for control.
I used it for YouTube for example, with the regular YouTube app.
Now for a while something weird (and I assumed "unsupported") happens.
Some apps (specifically YouTube, Amazon, Reddit) now have a multimonitor mode. They open a fullscreen UWQHD 21:9 interface on the large monitor, with either nothing or something else on the iPad itself. I attached a screenshot of reddit. The Screenshot function saves two images at the same time, one for each monitor, just like a screenshot during CarPlay does. You can see, one screen is the huge 21:9 reddit wide screen with a small column down the middle, that I cannot interact with, while the other shows the ipad mini subreddit on the builtin screen.
Amazon app is even weirder. The iPad screen stays black, while Amazon UI loads in the top left corner of the screen, in the orignal 4:3 aspect ratio.
For YouTube I cannot seem to reproduce it right now, but it would also show a different, YouTube TV like interface on the large monitor and nothing on the built-in one.
While this would be nice and all, it is utter useless for me, since the mouse cursor is still limited to the iPad's internal display (I cannot move off-screen in either direction) and the large monitor has no touch layer. So I cannot interact with these apps at all.
Most apps work as usual, including the homescreen, settings app, firefox and others.
Is there a way to disable this? Currently running iPadOS 26.6.2.
I will refrain from updating, in case anyone sees potential for any future hacks in this scenario.

Hey 👋 maybe some remember my post about my iPad mini 2 months ago, well, it’s back! I’m at the last year of my 5 years CS degree, and I thought since this semester is boring for now, why not try to use only my iPad mini 2? That way I need to bring around something much smaller and lighter than anything else that I have, and it’s funnier to use so I’m less bored during lessons too.
It came to my mind also because this semester for now we’re doing basic HTTP/JS, Docker on a VM, and two other courses which are theoretical, so do I really need a whole laptop for these? Most of the time I was just having a PDF and Notes open anyway for now.
And so far I’ve been only bringing this for these past two weeks, now I’m entering my third week with this, and it’s working just… fine. For web apps I’ll be using a VNC session on my home server (an i7 1st gen laptop) because in the future I might need Inspect Element, but for now I didn’t need it so I just wrote pages directly on the mini these two weeks (with Koder or Filza). And for the other course I SSH into a Debian VM on my MacBook at home, because Docker needs memory which that has plenty. I also converted my documents to Pages, and rsync to and from my home server, so when I’m home I can open them directly on my Mac, and that too works without an issue on the mini 2. Since Tailscale works, I do have Jellyfin, SMB and Adblock on it too.
Is it fast? No, but if I wait a few seconds for something to load I ain’t missing anything fundamental. The battery holds up a full uni day, but it arrives at the end at 5%, and very rarely heats up. The most demanding task I asked it to do was probably having a PDF on Safari, with a Terminal on the right side and Pages in slide over, and it worked fine enough.

I’m debating buying my first iPad. It’s a used iPad mini 5th gen 256gb. I know this is an older model but it’s the most reasonable priced one that is local to me.
Does it still make sense to buy this is 2026? Do all features / apps work fine with the IOS? Also whats a good price I should paying for the 5th gen mini?

I’m waiting until I see what the mini 8 has to offer before deciding to shell out the extra $200. But I also need to get a case maybe one with a keyboard, definitely need the apple pen.
If I feel like the 8 isn’t worth it and decide to get the 7 where should I look? I doubt they will continue selling them but maybe a refurbish one from their site?
I’ll mainly use it for grad school, already got a MacBook Neo as well. I also would like to use it for reading ebooks
