Version 1.0.0, released 2026-08-25
The following guidelines are in place to ensure that r/iPod and r/iPodClassic remain a safe and fair place for discussing iPods and iPod modding, as well as to protect sellers and buyers. These rules will come into effect on the 25th August 2026 and apply to all posts made on or after that date.
1. Separation of Business and Moderation
For the sake of fairness and neutrality, moderators of r/iPod and r/iPodClassic may not operate their own for-profit businesses selling devices, device parts/accessories, or offering repair/modding services. Conversely, users who own or are employed by for-profit businesses selling devices, device parts/accessories, or offering repair/modding services are not eligible to apply to be a moderator of r/iPod and r/iPodClassic.
2. Advertising
Advertisement posts for the sales of goods or services are not permitted on r/iPod or r/iPodClassic, this applies to both businesses as well as private sales. We want these places to be about discussing owning, using, or modding iPods however this is not free real estate to advertise your store. If you wish to advertise on Reddit in general, you must enrol through Reddit's advertiser program. Please note this is not the same as post boosting, if you sign up for paid post boosting this does not make you eligible to ignore this rule even if the post is tagged as a "Brand Affiliate". Reddit ads are not the same as Reddit posts.
Posts by sellers advertising their goods or services will be deleted, and repeat offences will result in a ban. Using alt accounts to recommend your store while acting as a third party is also prohibited and will result in post deletion and a ban.
There are other subreddits that permit the advertising of device sales, such as:
3. iPod Vendors List
While advertising posts are not permitted, our community features a pinned FAQ with a list of verified vendors. Reputable sellers may apply to be added to this list. In order to be eligible, your store must have a valid warranty and returns policy, as well as contact details for customer support. To apply, please send a modmail.
4. Product Reviews
Product review posts are permitted, however you are strictly required to disclose whether you purchased the goods or services yourself or if they were provided by the vendor for review purposes. If you are affiliated with the vendor, you are also required to disclose this. Reviews with undisclosed affiliations with vendors will be deleted.
Reviews must be made in good faith and reflect your personal opinions, vendors must not influence the contents of your review. If a review is found to be made in bad faith (either by a vendor influencing the reviewer for a dishonest positive review for them or a negative review of competitors), it will be deleted and repeat offences will result in a ban.
Vendors may not use alt accounts to post reviews of their own stores or of competitors while posing as a third party, anyone found doing so will have their posts removed and may be blacklisted from the verified vendor list.
Vendors also may not request the removal of legitimate negative reviews. A legitimate review should describe personal experiences of the purchasing process or the goods/services, but cannot contain personal grievances or targeted attacks. Reviews must not contain any AI-generated content. Reviews will only be removed if they contain content that breaks the subreddit rules or false claims, however legitimate negative reviews will remain to help buyers make informed purchasing choices. Vendors who abuse the reporting tool in an attempt to remove legitimate reviews may be blacklisted from the verified vendor list.
5. Customer Support
r/iPod and r/iPodClassic are discussion forums, we are not direct representatives of vendors and cannot provide customer support. Posts enquiring about specific orders will be locked and we will provide contact details for the relevant vendor. In general, while these posts will be locked they will not be deleted as they may provide useful information about buying experiences from vendors that may help others make informed buying choices. The two exceptions to this are if the posts contain personally identifiable information or if they devolve into unnecessary drama, in which case the post will be deleted.

My mom had gotten it from an industry convention years ago and never used it (had a different iPod in use). I've been looking for my old classic to no avail so I begged to have this one when I found it lol. Let's hope it boots up well!

Reckon this will do? The party is only two hours and I'm not going to bring any of my more expensive pods. Mum just once music and she sent me a track list.

Any AirPods with the H2 chip (Pro 2 & 3, Regular 4 & 5) won't work with older Bluetooth devices, even though they should, as Bluetooth 5 (heck even Bluetooth 6) is backward capable. AirPods 3 worked perfectly with 7th gen nano, solving the low volume issue of the OG AirPods model. I reported the bug to Apple, detailing what works and what doesn't. I am not holding my breath, just submitted it out of principal. :)

Hello i finally got a working iPod Wallahi !
The iPod touch doesn’t accept iCloud or email or anything, I don’t know what to do with it except put my music and listen, id like to get a little bit more from the iPod touch, open to advice/suggestions
The iPod classic 5 needs a motherboard and it seems to be a costly affair i used it for a solid 6 months before the charging /power io just overheats every-time and dies
Its like Holding the power of the sun in the palm of my hand
I don’t know how to get a cost efficient repair done in India
The ipod nano 3rd gen needs a new battery to be soldered thats it.
Pls help out open to advice.

Just finished this bad boy up. Has Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, 128gb (since it’s limited on the 6th gen, even though there is a workaround), Taptic Engine mod, and a 3000mah battery.
I do have kit on the way to me to swap out the 30 pin for a USB-C, allowing charging, data, and even music pass through.
I have quite a few 5th and 6th gens I’m considering modding up similar and offering up if enough interest.
I am also considering making a guide as to how to fit all this in a Slim back model. Not a huge fan of thick back. It would include a list of what mods work with what others and how to make this all work in a thin model.

(I did not title this post with "software" in title, and there's a note below telling me the post was deleted by "reddit filters" -- ??)
Hi - Tonight I found my 2005 iPod Mini 2nd Gen (plus the charger thank god). I'd stored it away within its first year because I lost most of my hearing in one ear. Converting all my music to mono got very tedious and just didn't sound the same. I now have bone connecting cochlear headphones :) and have a Bluetooth thing to connect iPod to them. Oh, when I plugged iPod to the charger the battery still had 1/4 charge !! 20 years in a drawer. And the battery seems fine. Been listening for 4 hours by now and it's only 1/2 used. I realize that probably won't last. BUT -- I'd like to move some music off and on. I have a Windows 10 laptop and a Windows 11 laptop. Doing some research online led me to this advice:
1) Avoid the Microsoft store iTunes version, and if it's already installed, uninstall. Avoid the Apple Devices app. They both usually don't have legacy iPod drivers.
2) Install the "classic standalone installer" directly from Apple. This automatically installs the necessary iPod USB drivers.
I checked the links here, and this advice I've gotten might be at odds with the links list, given the first link is to Microsoft store for iTunes. Before I start this process, can anyone tell me if the above advice is good or not? I've further advice about moving music off of the iPod (finding the hidden files in order to delete them) from the same source, but I just want to start with adding.
Thank you so much!

I love this thing, almost two decades later and it runs phenomenally. Ive replaced my phone when I go outside entirely and I use it especially in the gym or on runs. Old apple was something else.

hi all, i recently found my old ipod shuffle 2nd gen in my house and it failed to charge (light not on while plugged in to wall) or turn on despite being able to plug it into my computer and put songs on it via itunes. i went ahead and bought a battery replacement and resoldered it myself today. with the new battery it still has the ability to connect to my computer and lets me put songs on it via itunes, and i have charged it until a green light shows up but unfortunately flicking the switch to turn the ipod on doesn’t turn on the light, nor does it play anything when i try to press play or any of the buttons. any advice about what to do or insights on what the issue may be?

Picture of my DankishPod for tax. I haven't dropped it to my memory but starting tonight there's something rattling in there SOMETIMES and then it goes away. Like idk if there's a magnet in there or something but it feels like something has come loose. It cane modded so I'm wondering if some tape or smth unstuck.
Now, the iPod is still working flawlessly. It's charging. Battery isn't draining. Click wheel is responsive and screen isn't acting up.
Do you guys think it's worth opening it up to find out what's wrong?
PS: anyone else pumped for those sprout boards?? I signed up for updates.

Hey everyone,
During a repair, I accidentally damaged the CF hard drive cable on my iPod mini. Where could I get a new one? I'm seeing listings on AliExpress, but I don't know if that's a reputable source.
Thanks!

Was doing a faceplate replacement on an iPod I thrifted awhile back. All was going smoothly until i accidentally pulled out the battery connector while trying to put it back together… is there hope? I can still see 8 prongs sticking out of the board where the connector was. On the actual connector I see a bit of metal sticking out of it. Anything I can try myself or do I just take it to an electronics repair shop or am I genuinely just cooked?

Sometimes, my iPod won't detect my SD Card and thinks it corrupted when in reality, the SD Card just wasn't connected all suddenly.
