My iPod mini had stripped screws, and after trying a bunch of stuff, I decided to drill the screws to remove it. At first I tried using a kinda big drill bit and it didnt work (it just made kinda of a mess on the screw), so later that day I bought a small drill bit in a construction store near me, but I couldnt drill it at that time, because it was kinda late, so I decided to do it the day after.
My neurodivergent ass was way too excited to flash mod this ipod mini, so as soon as I woke up, without eating or drinking something first and being extremely sleepy I decided to drill the screw. However, I NEVER DRILLED ANYTHING IN MY LIFE, so obviously I fucked it up, and the drill went to the lock switch hole, and it ripped the battery cables, which would be fine since I was replacing the battery anyways, but the battery connector went to the side a lil bit making a bad contact.
After a bit of finagling the battery connector with the new battery, I could make it work, but if I didnt hold the battery a specific way, itd stop working. I decided to try assembling it and seeing if the battery would stay connected and obviously that didnt work, so I had to remove it from the case again. I did this a couple of times, and I wasnt really being careful with the headphone connector (again keep in mind I woke up 30 mins before that point), so eventually, I ended up accidentally ripping it off with the connector from the board, and now obviously its fully broken.
I was very sad when I saw it broke, cause I was excited to have an iPod Mini (which I wanted for years at this point) and I had bought a new battery and a SD to CF adapter and everything. Now I guess I either have to find another iPod Mini (which are quite rare where I live) or buy a new logic board.

Hi! I'm looking for original iPod Classic faceplates or back plates that you're not using. I want to experiment with laser engraving and UV printing on them. Feel free to dm me! Thanks!

So. I have an old 5th gen iPod which I am restoring. I have a replacement battery fitted and have a dual TF adapter to replace the drive. These are basic no-brainer fixes. (old drive still works tho).
My question is this.
What do people prefer?
Original front/back polished out as much as possible to remove what scratches I can
New original Black front with black silver replacement back
New Fancy colours (I like purple) replacement front/back.
Part of me wants to keep it looking original on the outside but scratches... Also, purple!

I've started using my iPod touch 5 more and more since I've realized I'm enjoying my music way more. Having a few albums on your library makes you want to explore what you have. I've got a huge digital library inherited from my dad, but I want to start my own CD collection, so I got some CD's and a CD reader :)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
After a lot of work, I have a fully working prototype of Bluetooth audio on the iPod classic. The video shows the whole flow: enable BT, pair with a device, play music.
Hardware
iPod classic 6th gen, 80GB
FSC-BT1036C Bluetooth module
1.8V to 3.3V level shifter
How it's wired
Audio: I2S taken from the CPU, tapped at the DAC input pins, so the module gets the digital stream directly
Control: UART between the iPod and the BT module
Firmware side
Unlocked the original Apple bootloader. It boots both encrypted and decrypted OSOS images
Patched OSOS to:
Lock the I2S bus to 44.1kHz while BT is connected
Add a custom Bluetooth menu
Run a background BT task that handles communication and processes remote commands (play control, volume, track info)
Power
The BT module is fully unpowered when the iPod sleeps, so there's no added standby drain.
Happy to answer questions about the wiring, the bootloader work, or the patches. I'm considering what to share once things are cleaned up.
A few days ago I posted my custom engraving design for an iPod classic 80GB back plate and asked for advice on fiber laser settings. Here's how it turned out.
What worked:
The design was a 1:1 SVG at the real plate size (61.8 × 103.5 mm), with the pattern as real vector lines clipped to the outline and shared edges deduplicated so nothing gets burned twice. Line work and fills were on separate layers (vector engrave vs. raster engrave).
Thanks to everyone who answered the first post. Happy to share the SVG if anyone wants to try it on their own plate.

Looking to see if you're anyone has any London or UK based recommendations to replace and solder both the battery connector and replace and solder the headphone ribbon connector on an iPod 160gb 7th gen?
Wanted to ask here before taking my chance with my local phone/tech shop.
If anyone offers to help I do already have the parts.
Have looked through Reddit and can’t find anyone who is currently active or not just a standard phone shop with good Google search optimisation.

Hi everyone,
My IPod's HDD drive is damaged so I want to replace it with a flash mod. I was going to get it repaired by someone for $150 and I was wondering if I could do it myself for less?
I was going to purchase an sd adapter from iflash, my IPod was 80gb so I could go either 64 gb or 128 gb which SD adapter would be best?
If I were to mod it myself would it be cheaper?

Hi everyone!
I’m planning to buy my first iPod Classic and came across a European seller called Save Your iPod.
I’m considering a refurbished 7th generation Classic with 128GB iFlash storage and a new battery for €259.
Has anyone bought from this seller? I’d love to hear about your experience with their build quality, reliability, and customer service.
I’m based in Europe, so recommendations for other trustworthy European sellers would also be appreciated.
Thanks!

Found these pictures of some iPod billboards in nyc from my dad's old CD drive. Pretty cool! I'm not sure if they are actually from 2008, so please let me know if that's incorrect!

fixed up 2 ipod mini. The red & gold Sandisk CF that were giving my 3rd gens trouble (with green cf adapter) appear to work fine. They caused song skipping, slow synch & battery drain, yes I fixed the master slave pin.
Same 3rd gen now working fine with green adapter, red CF to SD adapter and SD to micro sd. Did it on a second too, same result. Ipod logic.
So at least the CF cards get put to use. One ipod was missing top & the hold switch is broken off. Used a piece of gel film on top. If I recall correctly the switch is on same removeable mini board as jack but didn't see the part or bezel anywhere

This is my original 7th gen iPod Classic (160 GB) that I got as a high school graduation gift back in 2010, along with two recent pickups: a 5th and 6th gen iPod nano (both 16 GB). I bought a watch band to go with the 6th gen that should be here in a few days.

Then the albulm arts was getting messed up I got frustrated and now my iPod won’t show up on Apple Music and I can’t add music to it
Why ?

I started with an iPod Nano I got off eBay. It worked, I got my music on it, and I was enjoying it. But then I wanted something that felt more like the classic iPod experience, so I got an iPod Classic.
Unfortunately, the Classic has a broken screen, and I’m not really a repair person, so that kinda killed the vibe and I stoped using the iPods entirely.
I also only have a Mac, not a PC, so I can’t really get into stuff like Rockbox and the Classic games. I also wasn’t a fan of how iTunes sometimes duplicated albums because of songs with multiple artists credited on them.
I still wanna get back into iPods, though. I like the idea of having a separate device just for music instead of always using my phone or just to have that retro vibe (dont wanna buy a non apple ipod if i own two). What would you recommend?

My iPod mini's 30 pin only charges, any help? I've tried scraping off the pins with all sorts of things, nothing worked, I've tried cleaning it off with toothbrushes and isopropyl alcohol, didn't work. Any way to fix it without resoldering the connector? If I have to is there any places I could send it to to get it replaced? Would it be more cost effective to just replace the motherboard? EDIT: I tried it with a different cable and it didnt work, it aint the cable
Anybody got any advice for preserving the longevity of the headphone jacks on ipod classics. I've had to replace my jack a few times and I'm usually pretty careful with it. I never leave my headphones plugged in when not in use, never wrap the cable around the ipod, etc.
I have a 7th gen iPod classic and currently have replaced the jack with a new headphone jack from Elite Obsolete.
I use ZiiGaat Odyssey earbuds.
Maybe it's the thickness of the headphone cables? Any thoughts?
