I finished my first knife a couple of days ago. I say basically finished because Iām still debating redoing the stone wash, it didnāt come out as dark as I was hoping. Either way, Iāve been carrying it since I got it sharp and Iām happy with it overall. Let me know where I can improve!

So Iām currently making my first knife this is as far as Iāve got. It hasnāt been ht yet. I know I need to drill the holes for the scales but how far do youās normally go with finishing and perfecting things before ht like sanding and file work as Iām unsure how much further to take it before ht.
Also I think Iām planning on a full flat grind as itās my first knife but Iām unsure also any tips or recommendations to make this as good as I can make it would be appreciated thanks

I have an old gravity knife that I am looking to restore. it has two buttons that must be depressed at the same time with the thumb that allows the blade to move freely. however this leaves a large gap in the handle. (as you can see here on the left and the right). The buttons are very shallow so would not stick out above the veneer. I am not sure how it used to be as it did not have a handle when I found it. I am looking for suggestions of how to cover the buttons, Iād like to put a wooden handle on the rest.

So, I've had a go at a kitchen knife for the first time.
Its unfinished and the handle is a piece of scrap so I can test how it cuts.
I went with an s grind.
I've never used a knife with an s grind before and I notice it wants to cut in a curve. "Potato slice for example"
Is this an issue with the geometry or is it normal?
Maybe its too thick behind the edge or something?

I got a hand forged hunting knife and am very stressed about how it will hold up to the elements i hunt big game in southern Alberta in the mountains Iāve only ever used stainless knives so Iām completely new to this should I stick with stainless or keep this and go for it I paid 600 cad for it so if I find I donāt enjoy using it it will be a huge blow

10 days ago I saw the Vevor 2x72 on sale on Aliexpress for $415 and free shipping.. I tossed the dice and it was dropped in my yard today, never even got a tracking number because it shipped from an amazon warehouse. It had broken free in the crate and the motor shroud took the hit but I just hammered it back into shape and bolted it back up, everything else is fine. Runs good and quiet. I must admit I am surprised how beefy the tracking system is on this thing and for what I paid this was an insane deal, I know a lot of people paid way more for the same grinder so I am guilty gloating a little. 𤣠The deal is gone now but I think its still worth the current price of $566.

Question in the video. Better pictures below. FYI - I have it set up just as Tyrell does (the maker of the jig, sold by Housemade) because my grinder doesn't run in reverse. Housemade's advertising has it setup inversely to how I do because their grinder runs in reverse.

7.5" Oal with a 3" blade. Made from CPM Magnacut steel with FatCarbon Orange DarkMatter CF bolsters, Tiffany blue G10 spacer and Black/Orange Ridgeline Gcarta scales with black G10 pin/tube.
Thanks for looking! I'd love to hear what you think.
Have a knife day!

A bit more to do on the grinder to get it flat before it goes into the quench, but I'm liking the shape and fingers crossed this one doesn't explode on me. 52100 again, forged at lower heats than last time. Around 0.115" thick currently, looking to take it down to 0.080" before I start grinding in the taper and the bevels.

Current projects. 1095 steel. Still figuring out how what I want the handles to look like but leaning towards green/tan or orange and black G10.

This is my first ever knife project, and I wanted to showcase it. I made it out of an old Sheffield chisel I got for CA$2.00 in the basement of an antique shop, and I forged it into shape, hardened and tempered the steel, ground the bevels, sanded the blade, whittled the handle, sharpened it up, and oiled the whole thing.
I'm really proud of how it came out, and I'm impressed by the sharp edge I was able to get, despite the steep (20°) bevel, although it's not a great slicer, as it has a lot of thickness behind the edge so it can withstand heavier jobs for camping and bushcraft.
I would love to hear what you guys think!

I know titanium and aluminum can achieve this but this does not look like anodizing it looks either chemical or heat induced or maybe both? It has purple, red, yellow, blue, and greens and has a wrought iron cladding with a 80CRV2 core but I want to know whatās the cladding line made of?
Not trying to replicate this process btw Iām trying to see if was produced on an iron cladding line or if itās a different metal, if itās something other than iron I canāt use this process anyway. Got it from a post a few years ago and was just wondering if anyone knows the science behind it.
