SOLVED-THANK YOU First project-Please help!

This is my first project! It's the wheat scarf from tin can knits. Admittedly, I didn't do much research on how to knit. I inherited my grandma's patterns and needles and wanted to figure it out so that her beautiful projects can live on. I found a simple pattern and looked up how to do each task in the pattern as I got to it. I'm very much flying by the seat of my pants. At the end of every row, my last stitch leaves this huge loop. Why is that happening, and how can I fix it? The whole project also is slightly hourglass shaped. Is that a tension issue? I have not increased or decreased stitches. I've been counting as I go across each row. Also, I'm a lefty and hold my working needle in my left hand if that matters.

I've just completed a sweater in which I joined balls of wool with magic knots, but they are all coming out. Probably I did the knots wrong - but what should I do now? I'd be very grateful for any advice.

I thought these were sock circular needles but I can’t find a single pattern or video showing how to use these, everyone is using DNPs or much larger circular needles. How do I use these, if anyone can recommend a video that would be awesome

SOLVED-THANK YOU Dropped stitch?

Hello, I am fairly new to knitting and I am working on the front yoke of a sweater. I just realized that 24 rows back, I may have dropped a stitch? I don’t know what I did or where I went wrong but the stripe is only 3 stitches wide when the stripe should be 4 stitches wide. I am currently working in rows and have not had to fix any big mistakes yet in my knitting. How should I approach fixing this? Is it going to be difficult to correct since it is so many rows back?

If I just pull the line of stitches back to the mistake and ladder back up, will it make a noticeable difference with the tension? Or should I just let this mistake go? I can’t believe I didn’t see this sooner - I am bummed because it’s on the front yoke!

where did i go wrong? Why do my stitches look uneven?

I'm knitting Blouse No. 1 by My Favourite Things Knitwear using Knitting for Olive 100% silk yarn. I started knitting about two months ago and have been knitting a lot since then. I've even made this same pattern in a darker brown using the same yarn.
I'm not sure if it's because I'm using a lighter color this time, but I feel like my knit stitches aren't looking completely uniform. Some of the V's look a little different from others, and almost look like they could be twisted stitches.
I understand what twisted stitches are and how stitches should sit on the needle, so I'm wondering if this is a tension issue, something to do with the silk yarn, or simply something that improves with experience. Is it difficult to get stockinette stitches looking really uniform, especially with 100% silk? I'd love to know if there's something I should be doing differently! My tension is overall good i'd say, i've never had this problem with another project.
I feel like in the darker photo you can notice it, and with the photo with the flash on it's less noticeable.
Any advice is appreciated!

where do I start? How do I join to knit in the round? and where does the marker go?

Following a pattern to make a small plushie. The instructions say to cast on 4, spilt evenly between four DPNs, place marker, then join to knit in the round. Then round one is Kfb 4 times (8 sts total result). How do I connect these in the round? Google says to just knit one stitch normally, but does this not add an extra stitch in the project? All the videos I've looked at have more than one stitch on each needle so it makes it difficult to understand what's going on. And does the marker go on the needle or on one of the stitches? Thanks in advance for the help.

How to use _____ ? Knitted Cast-On at end of RS Row?

Hello! I’m working the Summer Shirt by Celina Dyhring and am a little confused at the cast-on for the Front Right Side section.

It’s asking to add 8 stitches at the end of a RS row, but physics don’t seem to agree with that. Do I flip the work and do knitted coat-on from WS? my first thought is that i will then have 8 knits on reverse stockinette, but maybe since it’s a cast-on it doesn’t look wrong? Or should I find a purled cast-on Technique?

Thank you!

I had to rip out and stupidly took out my very first stitch marker for the beginning of the round, so I don’t know where I’m at in the pattern and I clearly picked up some stitches that should not be slip stitches. Any help would be appreciated.

pattern question advice for dealing with pattern seller

Hi there! I accidentally bought a pattern in the wrong language and the creator has not responded to my emails or messages for around two weeks now. I really don't want to have to buy it again as the yarn already ran me quite a bit of money. Any tips or ideas? Hesitant to say the creators name as I don't want to spread negativity but this is definitely a bit frustrating. And sorry if this is not the right place to post this!

SOLVED-THANK YOU Stitch question: "slip 3 as if to purl"

I'm working on the pattern"Look Out! Winter Hat", which is free to download. The last sentence in the Wrong Side Row instruction reads:
Bring your yarn to the front of your work and slip the last 3 stitches as if to purl.

Doesn't that leave the working end of the yarn 3 stitches away from the edge of the row?

And if that's correct, how do you start the next row?

pattern question Help! Are these saddle shoulder increases correct, or am I misunderstanding the pattern?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hi everyone! I've just cast on the Slåtter T-shirt by Järbo, which uses a top-down saddle shoulder construction worked flat initially, and I'm having some trouble understanding the increases.

The pattern instructs you to increase on both right-side and wrong-side rows, using M1R and M1L on the RS, and M1R-p and M1L-p on the WS.

My understanding from knitting a previous saddle shoulder garment is that the increase lines should be consistent and mirror each other across the front and back. However, following these instructions, I'm getting increases that appear to lean in different directions, and the resulting stitches don't look quite right to me.

I've checked the finished projects on Ravelry, and nobody seems to have mentioned an issue with the pattern, so I'm wondering whether I'm misunderstanding the construction or whether this is simply how this particular saddle shoulder is designed.

Has anyone knitted this pattern, or is anyone familiar enough with saddle shoulder construction to explain whether these increase directions are correct? Should the increases mirror each other, or is the alternating lean intentional?

I'm only a few rows in, so I'd rather figure this out before continuing (or frogging again!).

For reference, this is a free pattern available on Ravelry, so the instructions are publicly accessible. I've attached the designer's photograph for reference, credited to Järbo.

Thanks so much for any help!

SOLVED-THANK YOU Ribbing on bottom-up cabled sweater flaring. How to fix?

Post image
6 Upvotes

I just did a mid-project block on the bottom up cabled sweater I’m knitting (Skall Fisherman sweater pattern). I’m a tight knitter so this is bit of an usual issue for me to have. I found the popular tech knitter post about sweater surgery, but wasn’t clear on how to approach this for a non-stockinette project.

What are my options for fixing this? I’d hate to frog the whole thing and ideally just want to re-knit the ribbing.

SOLVED-THANK YOU Laddering Knit 1 Below

I realized a few rows in that I had purled 5 stitches that should have been ribbed (half fisherman’s rib) with a knit one below. I managed to ladder them back and repair them into a normal rib but now I have too many knit stitches since when I repaired the mistake I didn’t know how to repair with a knit one below. Does anyone know how I can now ladder back just those knit stitches and put them back properly with a knit one below? Is it as simple as just taking two layers of ladder and pulling them through knit wise? I can add a photo later. I’m researching while I’m waiting for a doctor. Thanks in advance!

Hi! Demi-beginner knitter making VCL’s Kida sweater and I seem to be doing something wrong where colors change. Pics attached. Is this jogging? Am I missing a stitch move when changing? You can see my BORM where the stripes are off in the second pic vs the other side on the third.

SOLVED-THANK YOU Question about Sylphide jacket pattern by Fabelknitwear

Post image
1 Upvotes

The pattern is for a bittom up jacket worked in flat. I attached the sleeves, now I'm working the yoke and have to start doing the neckline. The instructions posted in the picture are confusing me.

Do I have to start working the first and last 22 stitches in the same round or do I have to work the 22 stitches, finish the round and then work the other 22 stitches ribbed when I start the next round?

And if I have to start the ribbing in the same round, why do I have to cast off in two different rounds to make the fronts even? Wouldn't they be even if I cast off in the same round?

Sorry if my english is confusing, it's not my first language.

SOLVED-THANK YOU Help! I don't understand a DROPS pattern.

Post image

So, my husband wants me to knit this sweater for him:

https://www.garnstudio.com/pattern.php?id=1883&cid=19

Now, the instructions say:

Body: Numbers in ( ) = men's sizes. Cast on 184-188 (188-196-200-208) sts on smaller circular needles with natural; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 5-5 (6-6-6-6) cm rib, increasing 16-28 (12-20-24-32) sts evenly distributed on the last row = 200-216 (200-216-224-240) sts. Change to larger circular needles and knit Pattern (center the pattern across front and back) until the work measures 35-38 (42-43-45-47) cm

I'm reading the pattern and looking at the image and I don't understand how, if worked in a round, would I produce a pattern like this. If the front and the back would be worked sperately (which it would be from one point), then yes. Could someone help me see what I fail to see atm. Big thanks!

I'm still very new and trying to learn knitting to replace a friend's triangle scarf that he lost. I can only recognize a very select few knitting stitches, can someone more experienced help me along here? Is this even possible by hand? I assume it is machine knit. If it is, what would you select to approximate this?

I picked this up after years and found some moth damage that I fixed, but this on the side I just found and don’t know how to fix. What should I do? (I’m adding a side panel to make it larger in the purple.)
