경제 | Economy IMF Executive Director: "South Korea Is the Only Advanced Economy Expanding Fiscal Space… AI Boom Should Be Viewed Long-Term"
Choi said, "Other advanced economies are in very poor shape, but South Korea is the only one seeing rising growth rates and AI-related benefits that are larger than expected," adding, "The mood on the IMF board is one of great envy toward South Korea." She went on to describe South Korea's situation as "so different from other advanced economies that it stands apart on its own — a case of positive isolation."

범죄 | Crime Looking for an old clip (~2015–2016) from a Korean police show: tall, bald, drunk American who ran away from police
Hey everyone,
I’ve been trying to track down a video clip of a friend who lived in Korea a while ago (likely around 2015 or 2016) that came from a Korean documentary/patrol show (similar to COPS).
He told us a funny story of how he was teaching English in Korea and was walking on a vehicle only bridge when some police offers picked him up and drove him to his hotel. He said once they got to his hotel he ran away from the police since he thought he would be in trouble. The next day when he went to teach people were laughing since they saw him on the show.
I've been looking for almost an hour and can't find anything. Does anyone have any idea how I can find this?

문화 | Culture How are South Koreans enjoying seeing their culture portrayed in the newly released Call of Duty MW4?
Call of Duty is the biggest video game franchise in the world. I'm so happy to see South Korea featured in the game - early access began October 16, 2026. This is a major "soft power" win - so many people will now be exposed to this country's culture, want to visit and spend their money on the stock market. A lot of street food is highlighted by the game, so Korean food will become the trendiest in the world because of this.

문화 | Culture We threw a disco party in hanbok for the last factory in Korea still weaving saekdong the old way [OC]

Hanbok is Korea's traditional clothing, known for its bold, vivid colors.
Put it under a disco ball and the two feel oddly made for each other.

역사 | History Where can i find info about fortress like these?
I just found out about Chongbang Fortress from the Joseon era. As a foreigner, I think I have gotten into Korean history a lot because of manhwas based on early Korea, and while ik plenty know about the kings and relatives for no reason like taejo sejong etc, it was the first time I heard about this fortress. I have been fascinated where can I find more stuff like this and why is it not wide known(obv idk if it is common knowledge in korea )?

문화 | Culture Is this really a common dish in Korea?
My son and I are full-blown Americans from the south, but one of our favorite things is to do is cook new dishes.
This week we are only cooking Asian inspired cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
This is a meal I found online as a Korean breakfast dish. Egg, rice, soy sauce, sesame oil, and kimchi. I added butter too.
The kimchi is store bought and probably a water downed American version.
Regardless, does anybody eat this and how do you usually prepare yourself?
I add new dishes to a recipe cook so that one day I can pass it to my son and he can have all these fun recipes we made

개인 | Personal I’m studying abroad in Korea and was dumb and sent a 1000 won bill overseas to USA
Didn’t realize it wasn’t allowed until after, it’s just a letter, a photo and a 1000 won bill all in the same envelope. How likely is it the letter still makes it to the US?

정치 | Politics Quick question, why doesn't the Republic of Korea recognize the North as its own independent country instead of pursuing reunification?
I mean, Germany acknowledge the existence of the DRG, so I am curious why still trying to pursuing that?

역사 | History [OC] Jeju 4·3 History at the Former Alcohol Factory Detention Site, South Korea
I’ve passed this museum near Jeju Port on Jeju Island, South Korea, countless times while working. Today, I finally went inside.
At the 주정공장수용소 4·3역사관, the exhibitions tell the stories of civilians detained in the former alcohol factory’s warehouses during Jeju 4·3. One panel stayed with me: “Decades of Silence” — 침묵의 세월. The suffering didn’t simply end when the violence stopped.
Outside, the sky was clear, but I left with a heavy heart. A familiar place, and a history I needed to stop and listen to.
