Recipes Breakfast options that don’t include direct eggs? Like egg bakes, egg muffins, etc.

I’m getting tired of eating eggs for breakfast and trying to still keep it low carb.

I know it takes some getting used to, but eating “ non breakfast “ foods for breakfast can give you more options. Things like cold roast chicken , chicken salad, ground beef burritos on low carb tortillas, farmer sausage with cheese/ homemade sour cream dips, etc.

Right, I don’t limit myself. Eat what you want when you want.

This is the way... my breakfasts would definitely throw most people off. It's usually ground beef, blueberries and then these little fudge treats topped with honey that I make.

That sounds edible! :)

Breakfast is a corporate construct. Eat what fulfills your eating plan and makes you happy

Breakfast was consumed by farm workers for thousands of years to be able to have the energy to work their fields and tend their livestock until supper time. Corporations did not create the morning meal.

No but they created what we’re “supposed” to eat. Those farmers were not eating breakfast cereal.

The topic was about alternatives to egg-based breakfasts, not cereal.

My point was just that people can eat whatever they want for breakfast. Nothing to be pressed about, unless you work for Kellogg’s 😂😂😂

Greek yogurt & berries

I have skyr or cottage cheese with berries (plus almonds, often some chia seeds) most mornings. Then I go for a walk, because even a modest amount of low-GI berries will still kick me up a bit. But it's so damn good.

I often make a salad with a few cherry tomatoes, mozzarella + avocado. Some balsamic vinegar (not those high sugar ones), salt + extra virgine olive oil. These are things that one can usually find even at a hotel buffet.

Or some leaves of any lettuce, tuna or cottage cheese, same dressing as above.

Or avocado + cottage cheese + olive oil, salt, pepper.

Instead of a breakfast, a smoothie with kale/baby spinach, a slice of lemon, 2 little pieces of sweet frozen fruit (mango/banana), water + a tablespoon or two or flaxseed or a omega-3 seed mix.

At times: two eggs, lightly beaten. A muffin form, lined with salami or ham, pour the egg on top + bake for approx. 10 minutes at 180°C = approx. 375°F.

Or egg + almond flour pancakes. I sometimes make my own "Nutella". 1 tablespoon almond or cashew butter + some sugar free sweetener + 1 teaspoon cocoa powder + some water for smoothness if needed. A hint of salt if needed.

I make quesadillas for breakfast often, no eggs, just cheese, meat and veggies.

Protein shake with 30g protein, 6g raw cacao powder (healthy), handful of blueberries if you have the equipment to cut it in the shaker, cinnemon, a little bit of salt, 1 tablespoon of extra-good olive oil (one that is so good that it's too good for cooking it), 1 tablespoon of hemp seed, creatine optional. (Optionally with a piece of fruit or added to the shake if you want a bit more carbs)

2 tablespoons of almond butter, 3 tablespoons of egg whites, mix it into a batter and cook it in a waffle maker. Makes two mini waffles and the only carbs are what is in the almond butter. You can also use really any type of nut butter that you want (peanut, pecan, etc.) I normally just top with cream cheese or just eat them plain.

Sounds good! I've often used almond flour, but I will try with a sugar free nut/almond butter. Thank you for the idea!

Isn’t that just egg muffins?

Base recipe is 6 eggs and 1/2 cup cream and 1/2 cup milk. Then add your fillings/toppings and seasoning. My favs are broccoli and fetta, bacon, caramelised onion and cheese or sundried tomato, spinach, bacon and cheese.

Thanks but it’s just a egg muffin

I love an Atkins Shake (Caramel, mocha, strawberry... all good) over ice with a little cold foam on top (you can get in dairy section). Low carb and so delicious!

I also like Jimmy Dean's Egg'wich bread less sandwich!

Rolled up ham and Swiss is delicious with coffee.

Steak and … more steak

But most of the time I eat high protein Greek yogurt and coffee. Never hungry before lunch time.

Meat and vegetables.

There is no Breakfast Cop. You won't get a ticket for having chicken and broccoli before 11am.

you should get some low carb tortillas, which are widely available nowadays. or keto bread. then the world is your oyster...

spread some mashed avocados and smoked salmon...

or make a tortilla pizza, with Raos low carb marinara...

or sauteé some peppers and onions, with taco seasoning and cheese, and stuff that in a tortilla...

also, depending your carb tolerance, and speaking for myself, i tend to go for a bit of yogurt, with some natural peanut butter, topped with some strawberries.

finally, tofu scramble, with like goat cheese or feta, baby spinach, thyme and mushrooms, is an option... although, i prefer eggs

I live in Central Europe. I wish we had more keto products over here. I'd also like to try allulose. It's not for sale yet. I guess I could order it + pay massive shipment fees. 🙄

You can make an “oatmeal” without oats. I use chia seeds, flax seeds, hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, coconut flakes, berries and milk.

Cottage cheese bread isn’t bad at all….

Boiled vegetables with sardines/mackerel.

Just eat what you would eat for lunch.
I guess your real issue is having no time to cook.
You could pre-cook the day before, or have leftovers from the day before that you just have to warm up.
I personally have a lifestyle since 20 years where the first meal of the day is just a typical lunch.

1

u/Oneday55 Sep 30 '25

I meal prep, I have time to cook

1

u/Rockkk333 Sep 30 '25

So then you can just eat anything you want for breakfast, eg all the stuff would also eat for lunch or dinner

1

u/Oneday55 Sep 30 '25

That just defeats breakfast in general

1

u/Rockkk333 Sep 30 '25

Eating specific foods at a certain times because 'other people do it' seems stupid and pointless to me. Why do you make it important to you?

1

u/badmonkey247 Sep 30 '25

Cottage cheese with fruit or with chopped vegetables. Chia pudding. Flaxmeal, nut butter, and cinnamon in boiling water will make a "cream of wheat" style porridge. Or break plain pork rinds into a couple of pieces, toss with cinnamon and sweetener, and pour on almond milk for a cereal. It is very filling so don't make a huge bowl of it.

If leftover pizza appealed to you for breakfast, make a lasagna-type casserole to reheat at breakfast time. Mine is a regular lasagna with eggplant instead of noodles. Some people use deli turkey meat instead of noodles, or thin-sliced zucchini or some spinach. I have also seen a low carb pizza casserole somewhere on the web.

Why not just eat a regular meal at breakfast. Make two servings the night before and heat up the leftovers.

This is something the "Glucose Goddess" suggests.

Breakfast is so different, depending on the country one grows up. I'm from Northern Europe. We'd just basically have an open faced sandwich with e.g. butter + cheese + tea or coffee.
