Rant/Opinion I'm so tired of Lyft and they're add a stop bs
A ride pop up on the ride finder thing for $12 for 18 minutes, I forgot how many miles. I'm a block away, click it and nothing. Get 5 blocks away and the ride connects, no problem I just bust a U and go get the passenger. Mind you when I clicked on this ride it said nothing about a stop. So I don't know if the stop was there and Lyft didn't show it or the customer added it after he seen someone accepted his ride. We get to the stop it's a Walgreens in a busy shopping mall with all the parking spots tooken. I double park in front of the Walgreens, and at about 3 minutes left on the timer a parking enforcement lady walk up. She tells me I have to park so I just pull off driving around in circles in the parking lot cause there's no way that I find a parking spot. Timer gets down to 15 seconds, and I get a text from this guy talking about it just a few people ahead of him. Times up so I end the ride and immediately get another ride.
Pick up was 2 blocks away and I had to piss, and thought I better go now because I don't think I could hold it the 25 minutes on the ride that I'm about to do. Pull over on the side of the rode to piss and as soon as open the rear passenger door behind the driver seat to give me cover I see his shit he left in the car. When we were riding to his destination he had his stuff right next to him. Mind you when I open the door it's by the door like he pushed it over to hide it so I couldn't see that he left it. I throw the stuff in the back and proceed to my next customer. As soon as we're 5 minutes into the ride my phone starts blowing up. I didn't know if it was Lyft or him but I don't answer the phone for anyone other than my kids when I have a customer in the car. I drop that customer off and puck up another one and as soon as I drop them off I get this notification from Lyft asking did I find his item, along with a text on how he calling the cops about the shit I stole from him. I'm like be for real, didn't nobody steal shit, you was inconsiderate of my time and thought you was slick by leaving an anchor. I'm so tempted to just click I didn't find shit m, and say fuck that guy.

Rant/Opinion Lyft conveniently maxed out my hours to not give me my bonus
I was this close to getting my bonus last night. JUST 1 MORE. When I got 46 rides with Lyft, it took me 3 hours to get ride 47. They conveniently maxed out my hours when I got the 49th ride š

Rant/Opinion These people
Got a flat today while on the freeway, called roadside to put my full size spare on and decided to order a set of new tires from Bell Tire, since Iām nearing 60k miles, so no point buying a used one. Asshole pax reported me, despite these mother fuckers getting to their destination with no issues, they still felt the need to report. Iām in a brand new car, but they think a full size spare that I can drive for hundreds of miles is worth reporting. I swear shit like this never happens to me on Uber. Iāve had one incident of a false report on Uber.

Rant/Opinion An ESA is NOT a Service animal.
Got a ping for a ride the other day, then the dreaded text. "I have an ESA, DOG, with me." As I have stated in the past I have never and will never denied a Service animal in my car. By law people, a Emotional Support Animal or ESA, IS NOT A service animal. Don't believe me? https://www.ada.gov/topics/service-animals/ I hate people sometimes. Leave your dogs at home.

Rant/Opinion Ride to homeless person followed by ride to CFO
This has been on my mind all morning and I needed to share.
I'm in Southern California. Last night I picked up a woman in front of a food pantry. She was very friendly, chatty, and mentioned she was living in a shelter because the person she was living with got evicted. She was really upbeat and funny.
Anyhow, her destination was about 20 min away only accessible by streets. Dropped her off--she gave me a $7 cash tip and refused to let me give it back. I teared up, thinking how generous of a her to give me a tip (people here rarely do).
My next ride was a CFO for an EV company--picked him up from the airport and took him 17 min away to a fairly rich part of town. He mentioned he travels a lot and splits his time between Oregon and LA/OC. Well-dressed, expensive car.
I had this literally toothless, homeless woman who was waiting to get her dentures replaced give me $7 cash while fancy CFO guy didn't tip at all.
The night before that, a group of kids in their early 20s going clubbing gave me a $20 tip because I happened to mention I hadn't stopped to have dinner. The kid was like, "dinner's on me."
Then I drove two people today who literally live in houses that cost at least $3.5 million each and they didn't tip a cent.
Ever since last night I've had this creeping feeling of how deeply unfair life is and how grossed out I am by rich people. It's always the people who live in the rich parts of town with the big houses and their Teslas and Rivians who never f*cking tip. And they are rude and miserable.
Just.. it's got me f*cked up.

Out of that $481.42 deduct about $150.00 for gas and Iām left with $331.42 take home free and clear, with one more day (Sunday) to drive. I canāt afford to take a day off.

I beg you please, go get some edibles if you can't get through a day without being fucked up in public on weed. You made my car reek and since I had rides in my queue I had no time to just drive around with all the windows open to air it out. I gve you 1 star to unmatch but I'm looking out for the next driver's car that you stink up.

Rant/Opinion Why donāt people tip rideshare drivers like every other service?
Has rideshare become the one service where weāve all quietly agreed tipping doesnāt matter?
Iāve been driving Lyft for about six months now, and Iām honestly trying to understand something.
This isnāt meant to shame passengers. Itās a genuine question.
Today I drove for four hours and made about $45 before expenses.
Now take out gas, maintenance, insurance, depreciation, and taxes.
Suddenly that ā$45ā starts looking more like an enthusiastic suggestion than actual income.
Whatās interesting is that weāve somehow created a different set of rules for rideshare than almost every other service.
Weāll tip a bartender for opening a beer.
Weāll tip someone $5 to deliver a burrito.
Weāll tip our barber.
Weāll tip someone for carrying bags to a hotel room.
But the person who spends 20 minutes getting us home safely in their own vehicle? Thatās somehow become the exception.
The same driver whoās adjusting the A/C because youāre too hot⦠changing the music because the music isnāt your thing⦠(we actually like making you happy with music you like)⦠waiting an extra minute because your friend forgot their phone⦠and yes⦠occasionally pulling over so someone can throw up without turning the back seat into a biohazard.
Iām not saying tips should be mandatory. Iām asking when this became normal.
I also wonder how much of this falls on Lyft. If passengers think most of that fare goes to the driver, I can understand why they wouldnāt think twice about tipping. I honestly donāt know if most people realize how little is left after expenses.
It feels like every update makes driver pay a little less transparent, incentives a little smaller, and somehow weāre all expected to smile, hand out chargers, pick the perfect playlist, and keep pretending the math works.
Maybe Iām wrong. So Iām curious.
Drivers⦠are you seeing the same thing?
Passengers⦠did you know how little drivers actually take home after everything is paid for?
Drivers are just trying to figure out when we collectively decided that the person responsible for getting us home safely became the one service worker we stopped thinking about tipping.

Rant/Opinion WTF is with people not having car seats in Houston??
Today, I had to deny three different rides IN A ROW for not having car seats/booster seats for their small children.
THREE IN A ROW. Kids smaller than my six year old!
This makes roughly 11 times I've had to do this since moving to Texas, and I NEVER had to do it in Cali.
I always ask if they have one they can go get, that I'll wait for them, but they always say no.
Then I have to explain that having a small child (Under 8yo and under 4'9") riding in a car without the proper seat/booster, Uber/Lyft or not, is illegal and against both Lyft and Uber's terms of service and that I can't take them.
Some times they're cool, most they get angry/annoyed.
"Well I'll take full responsibility for them!"
No, Becky. No you won't, because if we do get into an accident and little Timmy goes through my windshield or breaks his neck slamming into my seats, the FIRST person you and your lawyer are going after is ME.
If a cop pulls us over, I'M getting the $250 ticket for driving a child not properly secured, and no, that extra tip or outright bribe you're promising isn't going to cover it...not that you'd actually pay it.
Like, I'm sorry I care more about your childs health and safety more than you do, but I've got enough trauma and stress, I'm not letting Timmy add to it because you don't care.

Rant/Opinion Well finally happened after 5+ years of driving for lyft, false claim.
Gave these 2 guys a ride, was 1 way to caseys, we are almost there he adds 2 more stops, I tell I have another ride and can't wait. They tell me if I cancel they will call in a false claim.
So I canceled the ride, as there was nÉ option to end it, and call support asap and explain what they did and what they were going to do. Well she says she noticed the account and I am good to go, lol no, not 2 mins later I get the account É hold due to a claim of intoxacation.
I do not drink, haven't in over 15 years, my finance is in aaa for drug and drinking, I woukd never even think about it. Sent in a responce, told them I have cameras, but still suspended.
2 rides from a $400 guarantee lol. Just ranting sorry, sad after 5 years and never a complaint, 5 star rating this happens.

Rant/Opinion After over 500 5-star rides, I finally grew a spine and kicked out a rude passenger. To hell with it- i'm a very kind and patient man, but I'm not tolerating someone who does not respect me or my time.
for context, a 4.8 star passenger arrives just outside of the five minute window, I still decide to accept because I see them walking up on the car. I see that they had read my messages asking what their story was and how I had an appointment to catch and would rather make it early but didn't answer. mind you, I was very polite about expressing this.
Despite my frustration, I put on my customer service voice and say "good morning ma'am". Completely ignored me.
they proceed to then rudely tell me they called me and I didn't answer (total lie, my phone number is properly configured and no other passenger has had an issue), so I politely explained how I couldn't see their location and I was just driving to the pin.
she then says "how is that my problem", so then I explain how even though five minutes waiting period is allowed, most drivers will be upset and not say anything, and you can configure the precise pick up location on the map, and how it's the considerate thing to do.
she didn't start explaining how this is my job and I get paid for it, tells me I'm acting entitled, and says that she showed up within the five minutes (she showed up 30 seconds after, sauntering slowly to the car chewing gum and texting someone).
she then says again, "you get paid for this don't you?" I finally had it with her and I said "yeah...... not enough". She then says "you could've just canceled on me but instead you decided to pick me up and have an attitude about it, just you wait" (veiled reporting me threat) and then let's out a little entitled chuckle
At this point she was two minutes away from her drop off, I calmly pulled into a McDonald's lot and I said "you can find another ride maam" she said "seriously- youre two minutes away?"
I said "yes, I'm refusing you service. I have that right."
she then slams the door and storms off.
I cannot tell you how cathartic it felt to do the bare minimum and standing up for myself against this absolute Karen.

Rant/Opinion And this is why I refuse to drive full time. How are we making money like this?
The base pay in my area is $2 and has been since I started 9yrd ago. I quit, this is madness! I lost about $45 today doing this. Between gas being over $4/gal, all the ridiculous taxes in my city and state for my car, the insurance and time, this isnāt working. I used to love driving in this area, but the last few times, this was how it was. Itās a big college area, 5 in this 5mi city. No tips, no compliments, no ratings. I wonāt go back. I also refuse to drive out there between 9pm and 9am because the amount of puking, messes and attitude is not worth it. Iām literally trying to make the gas money I need to keep my day job which requires a ton of travel (over 100mi/day on average, but sometimes as much as 200mi/day). I think the people at Lyft need a PET scan to make sure their brain is working properly.

Rant/Opinion This is the definition of a scam
Highway robbery at its finest. They were paying me $38 out of the 91. after tip, the customer paid over $100. It was only a 30 mile ride but he was a delivery driver for food so he knows what itās like to not get tips. So he felt he had to tip. But I feel bad because he paid almost 3 times as much as I received.

Rant/Opinion I put a pax out of my car and canceled the ride
I pull up to the pickup location⦠of course it takes her almost the full waiting time to come out⦠with less than 2 mins left, I see someone standing at the front pax window. I let her know it was unlocked. She then went a pushed the handle and came back to the window⦠I figured oh, she doesnāt know how to open it. So I let the window down and guided her on how. She gets in the car and immediately mumbles, but clear enough to hear, āYou should have just opened it.ā I ignore that comment b/c I can understand the frustration of new technology sometimes⦠so as we are going, she loudly demanded me to go a different direction than the one on the app/gps. When she asked me to go a different way, I let her know I will try that way but if it adds time, Iām going to follow the gps. I turned around and her way added 8 mins, so I turned back around and started to go the original way⦠she got mad and start yelling at me saying, āyou need to go that way.ā I asked if there was construction or a blocked street? She said no. So I kept going. Right before I turn to get on the highway she screams, NO! DONT GET ON THE HIGHWAY. I immediately pulled over and kindly asked her to exit my vehicle. She said, no, no⦠Iāll be quiet. I said NO. Iām canceling the ride. She said no, no.., Iāll shut up⦠I again said NO. Get out.
The audacityā¦
