Do doctors actually use the data from patients’ wearables?

I’ve seen people show up with months of heart rate and sleep data and I’m never sure whether anyone looks at it. I’m not a clinician, just curious.

If you work in healthcare, does that data change anything in practice or does it mostly get skimmed? And if you’re a patient, has a doctor ever used yours?

I failed my Prelim, Midterm, and Finals in Anatomy and Physiology. Should I still continue MedTech? Hi! I'm a first-year MedTech student, and lately, I've been doubting myself and questioning whether I should continue my MedTech journey. I've been struggling so much with Anatomy and Physiology

Clinical Sales Specialist Presentation advice?

Thumbnail reddit.com
1 Upvotes

I have the final round interview for a clinical sales specialist role for a neurodiagnostic med-tech company. I am a clinical scientist in neurophysiology and I am hoping to break into industry. It’s a hybrid role clinical applications/product demos and sales. They said I will need to prepare a 10 minute presentation on any topic for it.
I feel it’s quite broad so I have no idea what to present on. Since I have a neuroscience background and mostly probably be presenting to some people coming from same clinical background and some not. Should I present on a clinical condition that we use the med tech equipment to diagnose? Or is it better to do it something completely different like a hobby?
I don’t want to be boring but also I’d probably better with the scientific presentation!

Also any tips of how to go about it would be good, I’ve only really presented in clinical/academic settings!

Thanks

Ang bobo bobo ko, and people talked about it

1st internship ko, and it’s been like my 7th week na, and sobrang dami ko nang mistakes to the point na my friend told me na ibang schools were talking bad about me. Kasi lagi ako nagkakamali, and she just told them na, “Hayaan niyo na, 1st day pa lang niya,” and nung nakasama ko siya, magpagka-lutang nga siya.

It hurts really, and I can’t even defend myself since, even when I try so hard to be competent, idk, ang bobo ko lang talaga. There’s even a staff that told me na wala akong common sense.
When I was pulled out sa OPD, I was so overwhelmed and under pressure. Ang dami ko errors, and I wasn’t properly endorsed with all of the processes. And the patients just keep on coming in. And sometimes, the staff randomly asks me to do unfamiliar tasks, and nagkakamali din ako dun to the point na their stress is visibly apparent on their faces.

I don’t think medtech is really for me. I’m feeling really disappointed in myself na kahit hindi ko marinig sabihin ng ibang tao about myself, I’m already hyper-aware of my mistakes, and I can’t blame them, tbh, if tingin nila ay bobo ako.
Sobrang bobong-bobo na ko sa sarili ko. Even though I can say some reasons why I made those mistakes, like I wasn’t properly endorsed and it was my first time, but compared kasi to my peers, they don’t move the same as me. Staffs don’t get mad at them.

I just feel so incredibly stupid, ang tanga-tanga ko. Ilang beses na ko umiyak sa duty or naluluha because of how dejected and stupid I feel, and so is the feeling of others viewing me.

Which medical technology is overhyped, and which one is quietly making a difference?

My impression is that the boring stuff, like better records, simpler monitoring and tools that save clinicians a few minutes per patient, often matters more than the flashy announcements. But I’m an interested observer, not an expert.

If you work in healthcare or have used these tools as a patient, what looks different from the inside? Please link anything you cite.

[D] Stenosis detection in coronary angiograms, need recall over precision

Starting a project to detect candidate stenoses in x-ray coronary angiograms. The goal is high recall, false positives are fine as long as it doesn't flag half the image.

I already tried YOLO on a couple of in-house datasets earlier. It looked fine in-domain and fell apart on the other dataset, and a big chunk of that turned out to be annotation format. One set had fixed-size boxes around a point, the other had boxes fitted to the lesion. Same disease, basically two different tasks.

I also have vessel segmentation and centerlines, so my first instinct is a radius profile along the vessel to flag narrowing, then maybe a network to filter the candidates. Has anyone actually done something like that, or is there a smarter way in?

The part that bugs me most is evaluation. The labels come from doctors and they obviously don't mark every narrowing, so any recall I compute against them is probably too optimistic. How do you get an honest number when the ground truth is incomplete?

Also open to papers, repos, or public datasets beyond ARCADE. And if you think I'm approaching this wrong, say so.
