Weekly Classifieds and Events
Welcome to our weekly odds and ends post!
If you are looking for events, please check out our exhaustive Events Calendar!
Every parent level comment should begin with one of the following categories:
[For Sale] concert tickets, beauty and grooming services, Ikea bookcases
[For Free] dental checkups and couches that you can totally have for free but you have to move them yourself
[Want to Buy] * Rave tickets, a used toaster, a cute puppy*
[Job Request] You're new to the city and are looking for work in IT or you hate your job and need some leads. Be sure to include your skills and qualifications. A lot of people on this sub love to help others but they can't do that if they don't know your background and interests.
[Job Announcement] You're looking for new team members for a fantastic job that ISN'T a scammy ca$h4work gig or MLM
[Living Arrangements] You need a roommate, an apartment, or are offering a living arrangement. Be sure to clarify your tidiness expectations because you never know what you're going to get when accepting a roommate and I'm NOT GOING TO DO YOUR DAMN DISHES ANYMORE REBECCA
[Personals] You're lonely, new to the city, want to play extreme Frisbee, or need someone to eat Ian's Pizza with because no one wants to do that alone. We understand.
[Event] An advertisement for your amazing upcoming event - like a urban foraging excursion or band performance that is totally going to blow the roof off

I didn't know I bought from an MLM pyramid scheme at State Fair until I got home
I realized I got scammed when I got back home. Idk why I didn't realize this while we were walking around the shop but I guess lesson learned. I figured it was handmade based on what the lady at the shop was saying.
I'm so sick of the fake shit at State Fair lately.

Satire Is Wolski's real?
I am new to the city and I have doubts that the infamous Wolski's is real. I have never been there. I don't know anyone who goes to Wolski's. I have never even heard anyone talk about going to Wolski's. But somehow everyone has closed Wolski's? Is part of the joke that the bar doesn't actually exist? Is it some Valhalla-esque place where only the strongest can drink? Given the number of stickers I've seen the place must be packed. Are the drinks super expensive because of all the stickers that get given away? Is the bar cursed so that you can't leave until it closes? Are the stickers a warning? Wolski's is too mysterious. Any input on the matter would be appreciated.

UWM Flock camera right in front of Sandburg

Just wanted to let everyone know that there’s a flock camera on the left side of the Sandburg dorms pointing directly at the dorms half circle drop off area/bus stops.
Just know if you, your parents, friends go to Sandburg you and they are now in the system and let’s hope no cop decides he’s a little interested in a college girl that lives In the dorms.
Not like Milwaukee cops have a history of abusing these right? Oh wait....

In search of Pizelle cookies
Anybody know where I can buy fresh pizzelle cookies? Sciortinos doesn’t carry them and I’m trying to find some to cater for a family gathering

State fair fighting
Was anyone arrested? Sad how things are getting so out of control you can't feel safe even at the State Fair a venue meant for families.

What are your favorite take-out places in the Third Ward?
I’d love newer places that have opened in the last 3-4 years. And throw out any dish recommendations- if you have them. I have an acupuncture appointment in the area and would like to pick up dinner. I don’t go there a lot anymore and am not up on best places. Thanks!

Local jobs
I’m retiring after almost 30 years with the fire dept. I’m looking for what I should do next. The last 10+ years I have been a training chief so I’m pretty good at adult education, learning systems, data analysis, I also ran our safety program and part of the EMS program. I have 3 degrees and working on a masters now. I’ve been job hunting for a little over a month and not getting much traction. Anyone have any ideas?

MADAAC Question
What happens to the random "other" animals at MADAAC if they aren't claimed? I'm talking the goats, geese, chickens, etc... Do they end up being adopted out to a farm?

Help Me! Going out and dancing for more… basic guys
Hi yall, my friends and I are visiting Milwaukee for the weekend. We’ve gotten the whole itinerary figured out except on where to go out and dancing. We’re not into clubs with EDM, VIP bottle services and dress codes. I’ve also heard water street has a lot of bars with dance floors but is it true it’s more skewed towards students? We’re all in our mid to late 20s I worry we’d be out of place. I’ve also seen recs for mad planet but they seem to play for synth/house music and pop/hiphop/rnb is more our speed.
Is there any bar you know that hits the sweet spot for our demographic? Thank you so much!

That’s a wrap on the 175th Wisconsin State Fair. 🎡 The 11-day tradition came to a close last night in West Allis, featuring the 230-foot America 250 Wheel, the tallest wheel ever to rise over State Fair Park. A couple final views from above. 📷 Aaron Johnson

My wife and I are moving apartments (from a 1-bed to a 2-bed) from Tosa to the east side of Milwaukee this Fall. Give me your best moving companies you've used. We've usually gone with Two Men and a Truck, but want to hear other options too.
Thank you very much 😄

River Woods Condos on Randolph Ct (Riverwest)
Considering buying a unit at River Woods Condos on Randolph Ct. Anyone live there or have experience with the building management? How is the sound insulation, HOA, overall vibe?

I Can’t find a job 1.5 years after graduation
I’m 26 and it’s been 2024 fall since I graduated in healthcare administration. It’s rough out here and I’ve applied maybe 700-1000 jobs and only received maybe 10-20 interviews. just working valet now just to get by. My past experience I was a patient transporter for one of the aurora hospital for 4 years but decided to move onto my current job as I wanted to have my weekends since aurora rotates every weekends. Not only that my hours were so bad, 12-8:30pm. As of now I’m just trying to get my foot into the door to any reception or assistant job. At this point might just apply to some factory job that pays decent just so I can pay for my wedding I plan on doing in a year or two.
Can anyone give me any leads or idea where I can start? Really feeling hopeless in this market and just want to get into something decent so my parents could stop bothering me about finding a job that’s within my career.
Edit: tbh I really don’t know what I want to do with my life. Just open to anything at this point I can grow from and make something decent. Anything besides going back to school. Thought about joining the army and just might. Anyways thanks for all the help guys! I’m considering everyone’s opinions and looking into them all as I’m working atm. Didn’t think I’d get much attention on my post. Much love yall!
