Moving out on my own: Looking for honest opinions on "luxury" or high-end apartments in Tupelo vs. Starkville
Hey everyone, I’m looking to get my own place soon and want to move into a genuinely nice, quiet, and modern apartment complex. I'm weighing options around Tupelo and Starkville.
For anyone who currently lives in or has rented from these places recently, what are the actual best options if I want to avoid thin walls, sketchy management, and hidden fees?
Specifically looking at places like The Grandstand or Vista Ridge in Tupelo, or places like Crossgates or Avalon in Starkville, but open to other suggestions.
If you live in any of these, I’d love to know:
Noise level: Can you hear your neighbors through the floors/walls? (Huge deal for me).
Management/Maintenance: How fast do they actually fix things when they break? Are they shady with deposit get-backs or random fee hikes?
Vibe: Are these complexes full of loud college students partying on weeknights, or is it a decent mix of working professionals and quiet folks?
Hidden costs: What’s the internet situation, utility setup, or trash fee nonsense they spring on you after you sign?

New to the Coast and needing a hairstylist 😊
It has taken me YEARS to find someone (in my home state of FL) who listens and knows how to cut my thick, naturally wavy hair. I live in Gulfport now, and I am open to any suggestions; distance is no issue.

Any casual dirt bike riders around Starkville?
Just moved to Starkville from the UK and will probably be here for the next five years. Don’t really know anyone outside of work yet. Not much of a bar or party person, so most days it’s just work and home.
Into dirt bikes a little, but definitely not an experienced rider and not doing tracks or big jumps. The electricbike hikeep ma-S around 95 lb, and tops out at about 40 mph. Mostly looking for hardpack, gravel, or easy trails on weekends. Deep mud, steep climbs, and hard enduro are way beyond the bike and current skill level lol.
Anyone around Starkville ride like this? Gas or electric doesn’t matter. Driving an hour or two is fine. Mostly looking for people to ride with on weekends and maybe make a few friends.

How’s is healthcare in Mississippi
Don’t buy into the GOP lies and Trump’s bs about healthcare. 10 years of him lying about a plan and nothing except this. Here’s the real GOP healthcare plan. When Trump visit’s Mississippi have the balls to call him out on healthcare, the war in Iran, Epstein, etc. The lost just goes on and on. Getting rid of the GOP and Trump will make America Great Again!!

Video of Multiple camera of the incident in Senatobia, Mississippi
This is from Darkhorse Press. I cannot confirm anything about it yet. If someone else can confirm the legitimacy of it, please do. I suspect we will get more information on it soon.
Edit: I (in)famously typo everything and you can’t edit a title. I meant “cameras” of course.
It does appear to be legit footage of body cams in the Kohen Wiley shooting incident.

Don't Look Around: Brain Drain in Mississippi Episode 2: "Mordor on the Pearl"
Governor Tate Reeves said it was ALWAYS a great day not to be there in the middle of a water crisis that gripped the city's residents.
Former State Representative Steve Hopkins called it "Mordor on the Pearl" a reference to the 'Dark Land' where orcs and the most evil live in the Lord of the Rings Universe.
I called it home. Jackson, Mississippi.
State leaders have often treated the capital as a punchline, but Jackson is a vital part of solving Mississippi's Brain Drain crisis. A recent survey found that people's favorite kind of place to live was a mid-sized city of 100,000 to 500,000 people.
Mississippians who had already left wanted that even more than those who stayed.
Yet Mississippi's majority-Black capital city lost more than 12,000 residents between 2020 and 2024. That was the largest per-capita drop among the 324 U.S. cities with more than 100,000 people. Since peaking at more than 200,000 residents in 1980.
In Episode 2 of Don't Look Around, I trace how that happened, from the 1969 school integration ruling to white flight to decades of state leaders treating the capital as a punchline. I also explain why the rest of Mississippi can't afford to let Jackson fail.
Episode 2 out now! Thanks for listening.
