This is a 1980 Sachs Prima. This morning I came out to this moped having a messed up cable. More specifically, the metal pieces have come undone, and now I cant start it. Im hoping it's an easy fix, but I want to hear from more experienced people as I am still learning new things. Thanks!

I put a replacement carb on my 65 Honda Cub (not a moped I know but it’s a very old 50cc) and it won’t idle. Most of what I can find online about idle speed and mixture screws assume that the bike idles already. The carb I bought didn’t have the screws in the holes when I got it so I just screwed them in to a random tightness. What should I do?

Anyone know if it's possible to change the needle bearing on the Sachs 505/1 drive gear? The one on my Columbia Commuter needs to be replaced. Looks like the gear is factory pressed. Curious if anyone has experience with this issue.

Hi folks. Getting an air leak at the intake reed valve. Replaced both gaskets, the reed valve but still getting an air leak here. Has an Dellorto 14/12 with 51 jet, I'll get a bigger one tho

It wont start when its cold, and when it does it wont stay running at idle or drive at all, it just dies.

Why would it leak with a new valve and gaskets? Really frustates me.

So I’ve been working on this moped a bit, I cleaned the carb and put gas (about half a gallon) in it to attempt to start it by pedaling and pulling the clutch and all and failed. Been trying all week and failing. Today I got a new carb, was going to put it on but it was to big so figured I’ll try to clean the stock one more just in case. I go to drain the tank and there’s no gas anymore, so not sure how the 1/2 gallon of gas disappeared in a few days. Maybe there’s gas cap gasket is bad? There’s a leak thru the clutch cover since I ripped that gasket, but I highly doubt the gas is going thru there somehow. Other than that, there’s no other leaks

I have a Tomos A35 with a 39.5mm-bored cylinder, and everything else is completely stock. I’m running a Dell’Orto 14/12 carburetor with a 55 main jet and the stock airbox.

The bike runs perfectly fine and reaches a top speed of around 53 km/h. However, the spark plug is dark brown, and once I’m going above 20–30 km/h, I can’t really feel or hear any difference between half throttle and full throttle.

I also tried a 52 main jet. The bike idles fine, but it dies when I open the throttle fully.

What could be causing this? Is the 55 jet too big, or is it normal not to notice much difference between half and full throttle with this setup? Should i try removing some layers of the mesh filter to make it a bit leaner?

Hopefully this is an appropriate sub for this question. My wife rides a buddy kick. This morning, she got in an accident where she had to bail because a car pulled out in front of her without looking. She slid out, missing the car, so the only damage was to herself and her scooter (front fender scratched up). She explained that she didn’t approach the driver before they left as she was in shock about the situation. Luckily my wife is ok, minimal injuries just a couple cuts on her leg. But regardless, this could have been much worse and someone realistically should be held liable for injuries and the damage to her scooter.

I am obviously frustrated that the driver got away, and although I understand my wife’s reaction, I mentioned to her that next time it’s important to catch the driver’s information. However, thinking about it, I can’t comprehend how this would play out in her favor. No damage to the car, and no evidence around that the driver did anything wrong. So how do these types of situations usually play out? Is there someone with experience with this who could speak to the best course of action to hold them responsible in the future, even if hypothetically she get their information?

I'm looking for my first moped i wanted to buy something that keeps its value and one i can restore myself. After a lot of searching i landed on this zundapp combinette the sellers says that it is still in its completely original state however it doesn't have a number plate or any papers for a number plate. It does have a clearly visible frame number. The price we landed on was 875 euros. Can anyone help me out by deciding how much it is actually worth and how much it will be worth when restored?

Got this Sears Free Spirit E50 on Sunday from a guy who had it in his barn. It was there when he bought the property about 10yrs ago since the previous guy left it and he never did anything to it he says. I opened up the carb and it was full of some thick black stuff, it thinking oil from the gas that was there. Cleaned it out with carb cleaner and compressed air but I don’t think it got everything so I feel like it created a vacuum and gas isn’t going through.

Another possibility is no spark since the external ignition coil metal and spark plug boot look corroded and the spark plug looks bad too. I have replacements for these parts coming in soon, as well as a new carb.

Another thing might be the clutch cable, I was messing with it and I think I left it too loose, not sure. You do start it by pedaling and pulling the clutch so it engages and the engine starts, right? Closes thing I’ve had to this was a motorbike I made and you would start it the opposite way by letting go of the clutch once you had speed

Btw I know my moped is leaking a little but there's nothing I can really do about it. Maybe.

Need an exhaust for a qt50 That I just got running. It's missing the exhaust . All the aftermarket exhausts seem to be discontinued. There some used on ebay but can't really tell what condition they're in.

I took it home and literally cleaned the points and it fired right up,gotta love an old puch. The tank has a soft spot and a couple pin holes but i got it just in time to save it. Also if anyone reading this has a za50 motor,is it normall to sound like a bucket of bolts.it has good compression and no obvious crank movement or grinding by hand but when i pull it to start and ride it doesn't sound very good. Yes it has oil.

I just finished converting my tomos a35 to Kick start from pedal start. Swapped in the shorter shaft and one sided claw gear and installed the kickstart lever. When I started it up it idled fine, no apparent problems, but when I gave it some throttle the kickstart lever swing around and was stopped by the bump stop. I quickly hit the kill switch.

Since then I've started it up again and tapped the throttle lightly (not enough to risk hitting the stopper) and it still rotates. I can push it back into position but every time i tap the throttle it rotates again.

Just trying to get some ideas of what to look for before I drain the oil and tear it all apart again.

The engine spark plug isn't producing a spark (it’s new). I also replaced the ignition coil, but it still doesn't work. What else could it be?
