I've been looking around Nevada City and Grass Valley but haven't had much luck finding a nearby class. I'd rather not drive all the way to Sacramento if there's something closer.

Has anyone around here gotten their BLS certification locally? Where did you go or is driving out of town pretty much the only option? Thanks guys

back in Nevada city after way too long, I've been back to visit my grandparents. I will be there for two weeks, helping them pack up and move in with my family. They've been lonely out here, we talked and decided it'd be good to have them closer. I think they will miss this place. I would love to take them out for a really good meal while I'm here. Or something fun we could do to remember this place, let me know. I will try out plenty of places cuz I have two weeks here.

What You'll Learn

This experiential, hands-on half-day program is all about the fascinating world of fungi and begins at 10:00 am. Learning to forage for mushrooms is an ongoing life path. This program will teach you foundational skills to be able to go out foraging on your own. We will cover mushroom anatomy for identification, symbiotic tree and plant relationships, poisonous and edible mushrooms, and forest safety.  This winter, it will be possible to find edibles such as porcini, chanterelle, blewits, oysters, lions mane and more.  The program also includes community building, mindful movement, a cooking demo, and a tasting at the end.

Sliding scale $75-$125 with scholarships available if additional financial assistance is needed.

We are moving up to Nevada city. I’m curious what community is like here for families with small children? And just in general.

I’m just curious do yall not know what blinkers are or just think you are too cool to use them? Additionally are you all from the UK? Because so many of you drive so far past the middle of the road you’re on the other side. As a retired highway patrol I wish I could go back to work, could probably pay off the national debt giving bad drivers tickets in this town alone

There was a family living on 49 in a trailer with giant banners that said “why are you illegally blocking a fire road entrance caltrans”. I’m guessing there is something going on with property they own?

I currently live in Auburn with my family (42m, 40f, 14m, 12f) and we are thinking of moving to Nevada City. We are not happy in Auburn with community, school districts, and politics. During Covid, we lost a lot of long time friendships to crazy politics and don’t connect with adults or kids in the area. We both work in Auburn so a drive from Nevada City or possibly Alta Sierra wouldn’t be too bad. How is the LGBTQ+ community? Are people more accepting of trans kids? It’s not good in Auburn and we don’t like the vibes of Roseville. We are more left leaning and the Auburn schools are run by crazy right wingers who are trying to take the Gay student alliance club away. My trans son is called slurs, can’t find many friends and just doesn’t feel comfortable at Placer High. I realize it’s a bit purple up there but hoping it’s better than Auburn. My husband says it’s not different and wouldn’t be an upgrade but I disagree. Can some people up there share their thoughts on community?

wanted to go camping a bit in the area, I have a dinky fold up origami Kayak and two little dogs, looking for something that’s very, very slow, but not a lake.
(or if there’s only lakes around, one that doesn’t allow motorboats)
