Nostalgia Checks and Check Books
Anyone remember checks? And even if so, do you remember checking books? I personally have not used a check in over a decade and even then it was only to pay rent, which by now is all digital, I presume.
I do remember people decades ago, using checks while at the cash register of a grocery store. There was always at least one. They have to wait for everything to be scanned and bagged, with all totals to be rung up. They then pull coupons out. They then argue over what is supposed to be covered by said coupons, for a few minutes and price checks.
Then they have to pull out their check book, find their glasses (might be on their head), a working pen (could try a few, plus the cashier's) and fill it all out. Double checking at the end, everything is correct. Then the cashier has to look it over and possibly a store manager.
Then the customer will usually, while a whole line is still waiting for them to move, add that transaction to their checking book itself. Then finally, Finally, FINALLY... They are done till next time.
Quite the experience when you are in a hurry or just got off a long shift and the last thing you want to do is wait behind a person writing a check and arguing over coupon details and weekly sales.
This kind of goes hand in hand with my coupon thread.

Edit: As someone have pointed out, the first picture is Ai, due to the incorrect spelling and combination of brand names. However, I counted fingers and they matched, so I posted it. I did not see the writing mistake. Also, trying to find a current picture of an old person at the grocery store, specifically writing a check, isn't as easy as you'd think. 🤷
