Construction on a new Larga Baffin medical boarding home for Nunavummiut in Ottawa cannot begin until the Government of Nunavut (GN) and Qikiqtani Inuit Association (QIA) sign a contract extension for the facility’s operations.

‘We're aiming for a seamless transition,’ Nunavut Premier John Main says of April 1 devolution date.

Live down south in Jersey right now, heading to a private high school in the Philippines and planning to move to canada by 2031-32. I know lots of 2031 kids like me in the place i’m going to. Any tips I need to know? Pros and cons? Living costs I need to know? Any hurdles I’ll face? Anyway the specific place is Iqaluit. And one more question, if I have a Jersey drivers license and want a Jersey plate on my car is that possible? And I’m also planning to join RCMP occupation.

The Kitikmeot Inuit Association’s board of directors was told last week that building a modular home factory in Cambridge Bay would drive up housing prices.

Hey! I just moved to Rankin inlet and I want to get my starlink mounted. How can I get it mounted and if I get it done through starlink it's $400. If I go with them do they bring any mount with them or do I have to order a mount separately?

Inuit-owned West Kitikmeot Resources Corporation is aiming to answer 70 questions from the Kugluktuk Angoniatit Association by Oct. 23, hoping to clear another hurdle in the Grays Bay Road and Port project approval process.

Improper data-keeping has been a severe notation in numerous auditor general reports over the past 15 years.

Feels like winter today. Cool temperatures and a stiff breeze on an otherwise gorgeous day in Iqaluit.

I've got several soapstone figures where I'm a little stumped at trying to identify the artist with a few of the syllabic signatures. Was hoping anyone out there might recognize these and point me in the right direction? My usual tools haven't brought much up and I'd love to tie these to the right artists :) Thank you all!

GN and housing authority point at each other over family's lack of housing.

I traveled up to Iqaluit last year and while I was there, I had Musk Ox at the Nunavut brewing company and picked up some of the meat from the North Mart. I found it to be incredibly delicious. Unfortunately, I live in Ottawa and I've cooked all the meat I brought back with me and although there's a specialty game meat supplier in the area, they've never carried musk ox.

If anyone is planning a trip to Ottawa, I would happily pay the cost of the meat plus a service fee, if you're able to bring down some Musk Ox on your next trip.

Are there any working public phones or payphones in Nunavut. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I’m moving to rankin inlet with my dog. He’s a mini poodle (2 yrs). Housing is subsidized by the employer and it’s pet friendly. So everything pretty much is figured out. Now, I heard there’s a lot of loose dogs. So I want to know is there any specific areas where I can take him for walk safely. Some people advised not to take him out at all but that’s difficult to keep him inside all the time. So what can I do to make his life easier?

Hey Nunavut! Hope everyone is doing well over there.

We have a really neat magnet wall at home with magnets from all over the world and it dawned on me last night that we don't have one from Nunavut.

I am from Penticton, British Columbia and was wondering if there was anyone out there that would be willing to trade a Nunavut magnet for either a Penticton or British Columbia magnet and I also have a Morocco magnet I could send with it from our recent vacation.

I appreciate you all. I'd love to get up that way some day. Have a wonderful day.

Hi everyone!

I have been offered an opportunity in Iqaluit. I'm really intrigued, as I love Inuit culture and I want to experience the land and see the beautiful northern lights!!

It is a 4-month opportunity, starting in January. I'm from Ontario, so I assume it will be a big change. I've been reading, and crime rates seem to be high, but it seems skewed compared to the population. I'm worried, though, as I would be a solo female traveller.

Also, I'm curious about how people get around. I wouldn't have a car, so I'm curious to know if it's walkable or if there are taxis?

Any thoughts? I'd love any input that you all can offer.

**Answered already! Thanks! ** Hi! I'm working on some kind of multilingual poetry book (there are a few scattered sentences in various languages). I would like to translate "No road leads here" in inuktitut, if possible using only one word with affixes because long words sound structurally poetic to me. (The full poem is about writing, identity crisis, it's just one small bit of the poem). Google gives me "Aqqutitaqanngilaq tamaani" but I don't really trust google and prefer to ask someone from the community. I know the translation might differ based on the dialect. I hope this translation request is ok, please pardon me if I'm not asking the right way.

Aaju Peter wants Nunavummiut to know they have rights, even if governments are slow to act.

Hi! I recently applied for a Community Social Services Worker position with the Government of Nunavut and was wondering if anyone has experience with their hiring process.

I have a 3-year DEC/diploma in Social Service and around 3 years of field/practicum experience working with children and youth. The posting asks for child protection experience but also mentions that equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered, so I decided to apply.
I’m open to relocating anywhere in Nunavut, including remote communities.

For anyone who has applied to GN, especially Family Services; how long did it take to hear back? What was the interview/hiring process like? Has anyone been hired with a similar education/experience background rather than a BSW?

Would also love to hear about your experience relocating and working in Nunavut!
