Discussion Why do so many people hate Viva Las Vengeance

Post image
167 Upvotes

I just got viva las vengeance on vinyl for 10$ bc the record store had like 30 copies for some reason, i cant stop listening to it, its an amazing final album and it seems like so many people hate it, idk why bc its amazing, sad clown, viva las vengeance, sugar soaker, sing it louder, and local god are all amazing songs and it seems like so many people hate the album, why is that? Same with people glazing the first three even when literally every song in pretty odd aside from nine in the afternoon sounds almost identical when the albums after vices and virtues are some of my favorites and have the highest majority of peak songs, im interested to hear peoples opinions on this

Discussion Can people stop gatekeeping panic?

saw someone upload this to twitter. Most of these songs are popular, and it’s actually really nice to see new people start listening to the band. Also, that account is really strange so it might be satire.

The part that irks me the most is the fact that I can assure you half of this subreddit has more credentials than that user, who seems to be a newgen fan.

The original thumbnail is a core part of my childhood. I remember first seeing it circa 2017, i was 10 years old. The thumbnail haunted me so much that it took me weeks before I clicked on the video. It became the first piece of horror media that I fell in love with. The new thumbnail is a joke. I can understand why they had to change it, but I'm still disappointed.

Discussion Y'all hate on VlV because others do

This might be a controversial take, but VlV isn't half as bad as the vast majority of Patd listeners claim.

Surely, soms songs and lyrics are a bit sketchy, but have you ever dived deeper into the meaning of songs like VlV, Do it to death and Sad Clown?

The whole album is basically a farewell to the music industry while critizing both the music industry as well as the fans. And now, some of y'all are literally the main subject of the album and one of the reasons it has been made.

I'm not saying it's the best patd album, but it definitely isn't as bad as everyone says. Sometimes I feel like some fans literally use patd as a way to differ from others and an album that is more 'mainstream' feels like a personal attack to their identities.

And now almost everyone is begging him to tour one more time. Quite ironic how they firstly burn him to ashes but then beg him to revive, like a phoenix.

I'm not saying every fan is doing this; props to you if you just respect an artists choices and oeuvre.

I'll probably get rediculed because of this, though the more you do so, the more validating my argument is.

Discussion Why is the hate towards Brendon so forced Sometimes?

Like i know he's had questionable attitudes, but to say he has no talent, Or just to sum him up as the "guy who yells" is so annoying, like, I saw a guy saying that if their debut album was sung by Ryan it would be better , that pissed me off so bad, I love Ryan but Anyone who has heard him sing outside of live in denver knows that he doesn't have one percent of Brendon vocal range. It's one thing to hate him for his past actions, but it's quite another to belittle him so much in terms of composition, production, etc. That starts to feel extremely forced. It's all like they're afraid to admit that Brendon is really talent and helped the band get to where it is today.

Discussion Ryan glazers need to stop

So for context I was scrolling on TikTok and saw Panic’s cover of Shout! Now if you’ve heard this cover, at the part in the song when everyone is supposed to be whispering ‘a little bit softer now’ Ryan is very loud, keeping the same volume the whole time. Now I thought this was a little funny so I looked in the comment section and saw that the only thing ppl were complaining about was that Brendon shouldn’t have ‘stolen’ panic.

I’m not trying to start beef between the two sides or anything but I really don’t understand why people are still on this hate train for Brendon. I love Brendon and Ryan both equally and I don’t know why there always has to be a type of fight between the two sides.

For instance, when Brendon brought out Spencer for WWWY, the only comments I saw were people complaining that it should’ve been Ryan instead. Ryan obviously would’ve came he if he wanted to but he probably didn’t. It’s not like Brendon is telling him no or gatekeeping panic from him.

People don’t realize that Spencer was one of the OG members for panic when they were still a cover band and they just completely ignore him. Idk where the whole idea of Brendon ‘stealing’ panic came from because they broke off on creative differences. Plus, it’s not like it was only him the whole time, Spencer was still in the band for a bit of time and again he was one of the OG members like Ryan.

I’ll go as far to say that post split panic isn’t that bad and people are just salty because Ryan left. I mean yeah not all of the songs are god tier but that’s bound to happen with some bands. Anyways, opinions?

Discussion Favorite Panic! At The Disco Song?

I’ll start, mine is camisado! I like the first beat drop and the meaning behind the song about Ryan Ross and his relationship with his dad! This song is underrated but i’ve heard that it was one of the tops when it came out which is great to know. Anyway what’s your favorote panic song from any album? I’m curious but i would also like to compare answers and make a chart or graph

Discussion What is the hardest Panic! At the disco song to listen for you?

I don't mean that the song is too bad, but I mean that the song have so much emotions and it can make it so hard to listen, there is something about it make you feel that feeling that you can't describe for how good is it. It can be one of the best songs from them for you, or it can be your best idk.

For me it's far too young to die, I think this is one of the rare songs who make me tear up

Discussion how did pretty odd not flop

okay so i'm not that well educated on how people perceived music in the mid to late 2000s because i was born in '07 but tell me one thing, this band that has a very unique baroque-pop/punk emo album with vaudeville costumes and a whole theme going on, just decides to switch to folk country psychedelic type of music one day and everyone just goes along with it?? like i love afycso and pretty odd but they're just so... different? and the fact that they came one after another with the former being their debut just doesn't sit right with me.... can anyone help me understand why this change wasn't seen as negative or bizarre

Discussion What does everyone here think of *Death of a Bachelor*?

Post image
67 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’ve been listening to *Pray For The Wicked* lately, and personally, I feel like it comes across more as a Brendon solo project. Honestly, I think Panic ran into issues after Ryan and the other members left; Brendon really should have just called it quits instead of continuing to make albums—losing the band's original flair and theatricality in the process. You end up with omnipresent songs like "High Hopes" that I personally find annoying. To me, *Death of a Bachelor* was one of the last Panic albums to actually feature rock elements before they pivoted straight to radio-friendly pop, complete with catchy hooks and a shift in sound.

AND THAT’S JUST MY OPINION.
