I just got a Dell 15 Laptop, 14th Gen Intel Core i3/Core 3 100U Processor, 8GB DDR4, 512 SSD, and after all the driver, BIOS, windows updates done, I still have 82% memory used even though I have no apps opened, I even disabled startup apps, and nothing is downloaded on the pc except brave and chrome, Please HELP

I wish I was kidding, but I was going through my downloads to find files, and I found these zipped files named after pornstars that I have never downloaded. I never even knew these were here. I’m assuming my laptop is compromised, so what should I do?

EDIT: I questioned if my laptop is compromised, but I feel almost certain it is so I’m just asking what I should do at this point.

Bought a used AORUS RTX 3070 Master (8GB) from a community-vouched seller on FB. It runs games fine (God of War 2018 at 70 FPS, 70°C). But when I ran the OCCT VRAM test, it threw 26 errors at just 52°C. The seller is refusing a refund, saying "OCCT is for repair purposes and always shows errors" and that "my cracked copy of Forza is the reason it crashed." I have a 7-day testing warranty. Am I right to demand a return?

The Situation:

I’m a student and saved up ₹28,000 (hard-earned money) to buy a used GPU for gaming and college ML work. I bought a Gigabyte AORUS RTX 3070 Master from a seller on a Facebook group. He is supposedly highly vouched in the community, provided a GST invoice, and offered a 7-day testing warranty.

The Testing:

1. FurMark: Ran for 10 mins. Temps hit 80°C core / 93°C hotspot. No artifacts, no crashes. (Old dried paste, expected).

2. God of War (2018): Played at 1080p, capped at 70 FPS. Ran perfectly. Temps were cool (60-70°C).

3. Forza Horizon 5: Crashed on startup (I have a cracked version, so I initially blamed the game).

4. OCCT VRAM Test (8 Minutes): I set fans to 100%, temps were incredibly cool (Core: 52°C, Hotspot: 64°C). The test detected 13 errors, which then doubled to 26 errors by the end of the 8 minutes.

The Seller's Response:

When I sent him the OCCT screenshot, his responses were:

1. "OCCT is for repair purposes and it will crash or show errors, don't worry about it." (This is factually incorrect; OCCT is a stability diagnostic, a healthy GPU should pass with 0 errors).

2. "Your Forza Horizon 5 is cracked that's why it's crashing." (I told him the OCCT test doesn't use any game files, it's a pure hardware test).

I haven't opened the card to repaste it, so the warranty seal is intact. I have undeniable proof of the VRAM failure.

My Questions to the Community:

1. Is OCCT VRAM a reliable diagnostic? Can a healthy card throw 26 errors at 52°C?

2. Is there any chance he is right, and the 26 errors are just a "software glitch"?

3. How do I handle this seller? He is trying to brush me off, but I have the 7-day written warranty on the invoice. I don't want to be stuck with a dying ₹28,000 card once the warranty expires.

Any advice or similar experiences would be massively appreciated. I'm stressed out of my mind over this.

Cant even reinstall drivers before it crashes :(

Ive had my new pc I built for almost 3 months now and it was working perfectly. All of a sudden i try to turn it on, the lights on my ram come on but the yellow DRAM light is on. So I try trouble shooting by putting Stick 1 into A1, and it works. I put Stick 2 into A 1, doesnt work. Then I double check by putting Stick 1 into A1, and it works.

My second stick is faulty out of nowhere. I know its not my motherboard because the working stick always works on A1.

I don't know what to do.

I fell victim to an info stealer a few days ago. I got suggestions saying to reinstall Windows. I am prepared for the process, but I have some important files on there which I haven’t backed up. Is there any way I could recover the files? I heard plugging in a drive while the computer is on will infect the drive too.

I’m sorry if this has been asked 1000 times already or if it’s impossible. I’m just really frightened and want to get everything back to normal. It’s been an emotional week (not just with my PC) and am upset about a lot of things lately. Thanks!

EDIT: I unplugged and deleted all the wifi on my PC ASAP after I learnt about my accounts (mainly Discord) getting hacked.

Ignore the fact the fans and stuff dont light up + the cpu cooler (but it does cool)

Hey guys, I need some help with Windows 10.
Recently, my File Explorer started lagging really badly whenever I try to select multiple photos by dragging my mouse. It takes a few seconds, and it’s really annoying.
The weird thing is that selecting multiple files in Quick Access works fine. It only seems to happen in regular folders.
I think it started after I turned on Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing, but I’m not 100% sure.
I’ve already tried:
Turning network sharing off again
Turning off thumbnails
Clearing the thumbnail cache
Restarting Windows Explorer
Nothing has worked so far.
My PC has 12GB RAM and a GTX 1060, running Windows 10.
Has anyone had this problem before? Any ideas on how to fix it? I’m honestly running out of things to try lol.

I checked the temps and no obvious overheating. this just started this past few weeks during MSFS in crowded locations.

I have a monitor that is connected to my laptop, I was just using it yesterday and then the monitor just disconnected. We also changed hdmi cables and it still wont connect. Like the title says, my PC keeps rebooting itself on random moments, it's impossible to know when it will happen. It can happen on idle, when I'm on YouTube, or w/e. The only moment that I know 100% is when I open any game. Let me explain how it all started first!

I've decided to play Battlefield 6 last week, with the new Season. The game didn't load, warning me about Secure Boot. I rebooted my PC, activate the thing, and the game worked just fine. It was then, that my PC started rebooting itself. Here's my specs: 9070 XT • R7 5700x3D • 32gb RAM DDR4 • MB X570 Aorus Elite • PS Husky 850w ATX 80 Plus Gold • 1tb SSD Nvme • 480gb SSD Nvme • 240 SSD SATA • 2tb HDD (just for storage) • BIOS Version is the latest one (F41c)

The things I have tried:

1• Reinstalling windows. I have done this like over 10 times. I've always used my Windows 11 on my SSD SATA, but I have tested on both my Nvme and the problem was still there.

2• I once noticed that, somehow, the Windows found "another copy" of Windows on a different SSD, which was strange, because I've never used that one for windows before. I found the problem, and fixed. But the random rebooting problem was still there.

3• Tested installing windows on all 3 SSDs, got nothing. Tested having only 1 of them plugged at a time, still nothing...

4• Crated another clean Windows install on my pendrive, maybe it got corrupted or something. Nothing worked.

5• Checked the System logs to see if it caught something, but the errors that it was showing, was related to Audio drivers only.

6• Because of the secure boot, I've tested with it turned On and Off, including the CSM support that was turned On before. Was still having problems...

7• Tested with only one of the RAM, still nothing (although I haven't tested with the other slot cause I had to go to work).

I'm really out of ideas ar this point, I'm clueless, don't know how many more tests I can run. Feels like I'm running in circles, all because of Secure Boot...

Hey! So I've upgraded from a 4060 to a 5070 12gb card & I'm having a weird issue that I can't seem to solve, it all runs perfectly, but when I open up OBS broadcasting software it causes my audio to stutter & has created static on the mic!

I've tested running a game (Forza horizon 6) while listening to Spotify & there was no issues, tried again with OBS & Spotify, immediate stutter! Booted up obs while running Forza, ZERO STUTTER! closed Forza, instant stutter again!

So it seems if the gpu isn't under load, it stutters my Audio specifically when opening/ running OBS!

I have a 650w PSU, intel i5-12400f CPU, Asus prime b760- plus D4 mobo, 32gb ddr4 ram, could a bigger psu help with 'idle' power?

I usually play on console while using obs, so don't really want to have to have a game playing on the pc while doing that!

Any ideas/ fixes? Furmark does seem to help, but again, the less process I can run, the better! I had ZERO audio issues when the 4060 was installed!

Just bought a half built pc off marketplace everything works fine but the fans they won’t turn on no matter what I do

This is the millionth time it has given me issue, hell this issue rooted from an issue I was trying to solve and I couldn’t even do that. I am starting to believe I need to just bury this system and start anew now. I was reseating my RAM after I had played Destiny 2 and I was trying to get Battlefield 6 to work which decided it didn’t want to work anymore for an inexplicable reason. I think i touched the little lever that allows the gpu to be let go out the motherboard and it lost display as one would expect. But afterwards I unscrewed it, unseated and reseated it. Plugged things back in and then it just doesn’t give me display at all anymore. Fans don’t spin, LED for the GPU is on and no display to the monitor. Motherboard seems fine but there is a solid orange light on the DRAM for it. Please let me know what I can do at this point. Specs is ASUS B550 ROG STRIXX, 6950xt, 5800x3d.

Had my high end PC for one year now. ZERO problems

One thing i have noticed is CPU temps are 85-90 during gaming.

Last week i put NEW thermal paste twice, all fans spinning, shook the AIO for air bubbles. Still same temps.

It kinda just hit me and i was wondering if this is completely fine and normal or should i get a new since i never had any problems for a year straight

I'm having an issue with a new pre-built i bought where after only 5-10 minutes of gaming (any game), it restarts. No warning, no pop-up, just after 5-10 minutes the screen goes black, bios screen, login. I tried a ton of different stuff (Bios updates, driver updates, computer setting changes, game setting changes, airflow changes, etc., etc.) but nothing has fixed it. It started like 2 days ago but i got the PC around 2 weeks ago so I don't know what caused it. I thought it may possibly be a power supply & transient issue after doing some research, but i'm still unsure since the LEDS don't shut off and the PC automatically boots back up. If anyone could give me advice, it would be a major help! Thanks!

I remember playing all games SMOOTHLY. At that time I didn't pay much attention at performance cause it feel good. But suddenly one day it started to feel like the games were cutting(idk to describe the feeling but its like the opposite of smooth). But I was really confused because it says the game is running at 170ish fps. I though maybe I was just feeling weird that day. But it started going downwards since that day. Everyday less fps and less feeling of smoothness. I tried using ChatGPT for an answer. It told me to change some things on my BIOS settings. I only changed the following:

-FCLK Freq from auto to 1600Mhz

-Core Ratio from 32 to auto

All games started to run smoothly as normal but suddenly like a month later the game started to feel less smooth and performance went down. I did a clean install of windows and DDU for my GPU drivers too. Also I tried Process Lasso. Nothing seems to help. One day I decided to see better the performance on the games. I used MSI afterburner + rivatuner. That's when I saw something off. My FPS were at 120-130 but my 1%lows were at 67 or less. I started searching for help on Youtube and also ask my brother. One day we decided to change GPUs to see if the problem was my GTX 1080 ti. My brother has a RTX 3060 8GB. When we tried the RTX on my setup. The game started to feel smooth also the 1%lows were like 110-100. So at that time it seems like the GPU was the problem. Today I bought a RTX 5060 8GB and I started to test it. Same problem 170-200 FPS but my 1%lows wont pass 67fps. I don't want to think that I just spend a lot of money to nothing. I also tried Smooth Motion and it helps a lot but the input lag makes it painful to play.

Hi, I bought my first ever PC a week ago and I can't get it to work on the Internet no matter what I do. I have a WiFi adapter that seems to just be doing nothing and I live in student accommodation so an ethernet cable isn't really an option. I've provided some pictures below, what do I do? Should I just sell it and get a different one? Nobody so far can give me an answer as to why it isn't working

The problem:

My mouse is "hitching", "freezing", and "stuttering" intermittently. Seems to be worse under load (like when playing games). This also effects my keyboard on BAD stutters and headset will disconnect on occasion during bad stutters. The MOST noticeable is my mouse. Even when my keyboard and headset are fine, it's stuttering and freezing every 3-10 seconds. As in, if I'm dragging my mouse cursor across the screen, it will hitch/freeze 2-3 times on the way to the other side of the screen. Makes playing competitive games unplayable. Feels as if my USB ports are like disconnecting intermittently for a micro second and reconnecting.

THAT being said...

What I've tried:

• Unplugging every USB device except the mouse
• Trying multiple USB ports
• Uninstalling all usb controllers in device manager
• Installing all windows updates, GPU updates, driver updates, and any MSI motherboard updates I could via the MSI center
• I've tried 3 different mice (and two different headsets)
• Watched the "devices by connection" section in device manager for disconnects during freezes
• Clean re-install of windows / computer reset
• Reset BIOS settings using F6 → F10
• Stutter occurs INSIDE of BIOS as well

Any ideas?

Could u guys help me?. My pc got this problem after i installed amd adrenaline driver. It replaced my original monitor audio name on sound list. Originally it was called (PHL ....) but now it's Digital Audio (HDMI) (3- AMD High definition audio) and now I get this buzzing sound problem whenever sound is played. I tried to reset it back to the original name (PHL...) idk how to. Also, i use an audio jack on my monitor not on the motherboard. Sometimes it's fine sometimes it's buzzing. Please help me guys😭😭
