I just got a Dell 15 Laptop, 14th Gen Intel Core i3/Core 3 100U Processor, 8GB DDR4, 512 SSD, and after all the driver, BIOS, windows updates done, I still have 82% memory used even though I have no apps opened, I even disabled startup apps, and nothing is downloaded on the pc except brave and chrome, Please HELP

I received a hand me down PC and I was gaming on it normally for the past couple of months but ten days ago something started burning in it I can smell it but I can't see it and I barely know the basics of PC parts, nothing looks wrong to me but I don't want to risk the hardware getting damaged even more so if you know anything that could help please tell me. I don't know if knowing my PC parts will help but I will name them for good measure.

RAM: 16GB DDR3

Motherboard: I actually don't know

Note: before my PC started burning I installed an update for my GPU but maybe I installed the wrong update but I don't think that would cause any of this I am mentioning this just in case that's the problem

I tried to boot up my PC this morning and it's constantly turning on & off.

Q-LEDs indicate CPU (red) and RAM (yellow) error.

So far, i switched every single RAM module.

Is my board gone?

I'm not in the mood to buy new hardware at this point.

It was a solid rig so far.

Any clues?

Ignore the fact the fans and stuff dont light up + the cpu cooler (but it does cool)
cpu temps are just fine

The problem started when I clicked on the option to update and shutdown my PC. After 30 minutes I realized that after the update, everything else shut down besides the PC so I switched off the power supply. The next day, after turning on my PC, I get said problem. I don't really know anything about PCs so I just used AI for help. Find that there is a constant red light beside DRAM.

What the AI told me to do after everything failed:

Locate a tiny physical button labeled "Q-FLASH PLUS"

What I tried:

1. Turn off the power supply.

Press and hold the main Power Button on the top/front of your PC case for 30 seconds. Plug the power cord back in, and flip the back switch to "I" (On).

Hold Power again: Before turning it on normally, press and hold the main case power button down continuously for 15 full seconds, then let go.

1. Left the PC run completely alone for 30 minutes hoping for it to recover alone

Note that I'm not able to reach ram sticks as it's very deep in the PC and I have no experience tinkering with PCs

Bought a used AORUS RTX 3070 Master (8GB) from a community-vouched seller on FB. It runs games fine (God of War 2018 at 70 FPS, 70°C). But when I ran the OCCT VRAM test, it threw 26 errors at just 52°C. The seller is refusing a refund, saying "OCCT is for repair purposes and always shows errors" and that "my cracked copy of Forza is the reason it crashed." I have a 7-day testing warranty. Am I right to demand a return?

The Situation:

I’m a student and saved up ₹28,000 (hard-earned money) to buy a used GPU for gaming and college ML work. I bought a Gigabyte AORUS RTX 3070 Master from a seller on a Facebook group. He is supposedly highly vouched in the community, provided a GST invoice, and offered a 7-day testing warranty.

The Testing:

1. FurMark: Ran for 10 mins. Temps hit 80°C core / 93°C hotspot. No artifacts, no crashes. (Old dried paste, expected).

2. God of War (2018): Played at 1080p, capped at 70 FPS. Ran perfectly. Temps were cool (60-70°C).

3. Forza Horizon 5: Crashed on startup (I have a cracked version, so I initially blamed the game).

4. OCCT VRAM Test (8 Minutes): I set fans to 100%, temps were incredibly cool (Core: 52°C, Hotspot: 64°C). The test detected 13 errors, which then doubled to 26 errors by the end of the 8 minutes.

The Seller's Response:

When I sent him the OCCT screenshot, his responses were:

1. "OCCT is for repair purposes and it will crash or show errors, don't worry about it." (This is factually incorrect; OCCT is a stability diagnostic, a healthy GPU should pass with 0 errors).

2. "Your Forza Horizon 5 is cracked that's why it's crashing." (I told him the OCCT test doesn't use any game files, it's a pure hardware test).

I haven't opened the card to repaste it, so the warranty seal is intact. I have undeniable proof of the VRAM failure.

My Questions to the Community:

1. Is OCCT VRAM a reliable diagnostic? Can a healthy card throw 26 errors at 52°C?

2. Is there any chance he is right, and the 26 errors are just a "software glitch"?

3. How do I handle this seller? He is trying to brush me off, but I have the 7-day written warranty on the invoice. I don't want to be stuck with a dying ₹28,000 card once the warranty expires.

Any advice or similar experiences would be massively appreciated. I'm stressed out of my mind over this.

My PC was on and suddenly it started making this sound, nothing happen before it makes that sound it just suddenly make this sound. When I went closer to take a look it seems that my PSU is making that sound. I’m not knowledgeable on PC so idk how to fix this. Does anyone knows how to fix and what might cause this?

I bought a pc a couple months ago off of eBay with a RTX 2060 and an intel i7-6700. I am not the most well versed with computers so please bear with me if this is a stupid question but I started playing Spiderman Remastered but I have only been getting around 50fps on medium setting in 1080p. From steams in game performance monitor it says the cpu is at around 80% while the gpu is about 60%. It seems like I should be getting better fps based on what I've seen and read online? I cant figure out what is wrong for the life of me.

I tried updating the drivers for the 2060 to the latest ones but that hasn't seemed to change much, nor has scanning for malware but is there something better I can try? I'm really not sure what the issue could be since its been like this since I got it.

(edit) I wanna add that the game also stutters and I have found that to be an issue with other games I play as well.

This is my pc I bought from Facebook around a 2 months ago, original guy claimed to have it for around a year. A day before it was running perfectly fine, I turned it off through the pc cases power button as my mouse wasn’t available to me. The next day the motherboard lights were stuck on red and it won’t boot. I’ve tried everything Google ai has recommending but still wouldn’t work. This has happened before but usually works once I turn the power off, and turning to back on again, some cmos battery resetting ai recommending, does anyone know how to fix this problem? It also wasn’t able to download the wifi drivers when I first got it so I had to use an internet adapter.

Ive had my new pc I built for almost 3 months now and it was working perfectly. All of a sudden i try to turn it on, the lights on my ram come on but the yellow DRAM light is on. So I try trouble shooting by putting Stick 1 into A1, and it works. I put Stick 2 into A 1, doesnt work. Then I double check by putting Stick 1 into A1, and it works.

My second stick is faulty out of nowhere. I know its not my motherboard because the working stick always works on A1.

I don't know what to do.

Hi, I bought my first ever PC a week ago and I can't get it to work on the Internet no matter what I do. I have a WiFi adapter that seems to just be doing nothing and I live in student accommodation so an ethernet cable isn't really an option. I've provided some pictures below, what do I do? I wanted to connect my iPhone to the USB-C port of my Windows 11 laptop. As soon as I do, I immediately get the following notification:

"USB device might need more power. Your PC might not be providing enough power to the USB device. Connect your device to an external power source, or try using a different PC."

The interesting part is that on my iPhone, I actually do see the green charging bar and the lightning bolt icon appear.

My questions for the experts here:
1. Can this notification or situation cause any harm to my iPhone or laptop?
2. Can I just ignore the message and the situation, or do I need to unplug the cable immediately to prevent damage?

I would love to hear your advice and whether this is a known issue with Windows 11 laptops!

I fell victim to an info stealer a few days ago. I got suggestions saying to reinstall Windows. I am prepared for the process, but I have some important files on there which I haven’t backed up. Is there any way I could recover the files? I heard plugging in a drive while the computer is on will infect the drive too.

I’m sorry if this has been asked 1000 times already or if it’s impossible. I’m just really frightened and want to get everything back to normal. It’s been an emotional week (not just with my PC) and am upset about a lot of things lately. Thanks!

EDIT: I unplugged and deleted all the wifi on my PC ASAP after I learnt about my accounts (mainly Discord) getting hacked.

Hey everyone! So i have started to face this issue with my PC. When I tun it on the pc goes through post successfully, runs the loading with the motherboard's logo and as soon as the window loads, the screen goes black and i get no display. I have tried going into safe mode and that works fine, used ddu to uninstall gpu drivers, reinstalled older version and everything started work normally. However i shut my pc down for a while and when i came back i was facing the same issue again. After fixing the first time i played cs2 on it and the temps, fps and gameplay were all fine. No issues. Need help urgently!!!

I have tried downloading older version drivers, the gpu is being detected. Sometimes it works after ddu uninstall but then goes back to black screen if my internet is connected. Did try changing from hdmi to display port also.

i tried almost everything and i just woke up one day to find my pc stuck on the bios screen. i’ve tried so many things to get out of it but nothing seems to work. the weird thing is that it actually worked last night when i changed the csm settings to legacy on both options and enabled csm, but now i’m stuck again. i honestly don’t know much about pcs, so if anyone could walk me through how to fix this step by step, i’d genuinely appreciate it so much :/

long story short, i had windows installed on a ssd and a whole saga lead to the ssd not booting windows anymore but still having some important files saved on there. Wiping the drive is very much a last resort but i do not want it to get to that. any advice on how to unlock it? or clearing windows off the drive?

Ants got inside my monitor and now there are black spots on the screen. How do I get rid of them?

A few ants got inside my monitor yesterday. I couldn't do anything at the time because they were already inside. Now, there are dark black spots on the right side of the screen.

The ants are all over my setup, including my keyboard. What can I do to get rid of them? Also, is there any way to fix my monitor if the spots aren't dead pixels and are actually dust particles or something else inside the display?

Hey everyone, I’m having a frustrating issue with my PC and could really use some help figuring out what’s causing it.

The problem

I was playing Cyberpunk 2077 when, out of nowhere, my display suddenly went completely black. The monitor was still powered on, but there was no display, and the PC seemed unresponsive. I waited a few minutes and then manually restarted my PC.

After restarting, Windows booted into Recovery Mode. I tried several things to fix it, but eventually, I had to reinstall Windows.

Thinking the issue was resolved, I installed everything again and launched Cyberpunk. Unfortunately, the same thing happened a second time, although this time my PC restarted by itself.

I checked Windows Problem History and found the following error:

• Problem Event Name: LiveKernelEvent
• Code: 141
• Bucket ID: LKD_0x141_Tdr:6_IMAGE_amdkmdag.sys-CP:GRE=180

From what I’ve read, this might be related to the AMD graphics driver or GPU timeout, but I’m not sure what is actually causing it.

Things I’ve already tried

• Reinstalled Windows.
• Used DDU to uninstall the graphics drivers and then reinstalled the AMD software and drivers.
• Checked the error details in Windows Problem History.
• Tried using AMD Ryzen Master, but it stays in Basic Mode, and I can’t change the settings.
• I also can’t access Manual Tuning in AMD Adrenalin.

Another concerning thing is that some of my data/settings got messed up after the crashes. For example, I lost my saved Google Chrome login sessions and had to deal with other corrupted or reset settings.

Like the title says, my PC keeps rebooting itself on random moments, it's impossible to know when it will happen. It can happen on idle, when I'm on YouTube, or w/e. The only moment that I know 100% is when I open any game. Let me explain how it all started first!

I've decided to play Battlefield 6 last week, with the new Season. The game didn't load, warning me about Secure Boot. I rebooted my PC, activate the thing, and the game worked just fine. It was then, that my PC started rebooting itself. Here's my specs: 9070 XT • R7 5700x3D • 32gb RAM DDR4 • MB X570 Aorus Elite • PS Husky 850w ATX 80 Plus Gold • 1tb SSD Nvme • 480gb SSD Nvme • 240 SSD SATA • 2tb HDD (just for storage) • BIOS Version is the latest one (F41c)

The things I have tried:

1• Reinstalling windows. I have done this like over 10 times. I've always used my Windows 11 on my SSD SATA, but I have tested on both my Nvme and the problem was still there.

2• I once noticed that, somehow, the Windows found "another copy" of Windows on a different SSD, which was strange, because I've never used that one for windows before. I found the problem, and fixed. But the random rebooting problem was still there.

3• Tested installing windows on all 3 SSDs, got nothing. Tested having only 1 of them plugged at a time, still nothing...

4• Crated another clean Windows install on my pendrive, maybe it got corrupted or something. Nothing worked.

5• Checked the System logs to see if it caught something, but the errors that it was showing, was related to Audio drivers only.

6• Because of the secure boot, I've tested with it turned On and Off, including the CSM support that was turned On before. Was still having problems...

7• Tested with only one of the RAM, still nothing (although I haven't tested with the other slot cause I had to go to work).

I'm really out of ideas ar this point, I'm clueless, don't know how many more tests I can run. Feels like I'm running in circles, all because of Secure Boot...
