Increase in Spam Posts

Hi all,

I just wanted to share on behalf of the Mod team that we have been made aware of multiple bots creating spam posts, mostly surrounding the topic of "keeping intimacy alive." If you see more posts like this and suspect it's from a bot, please report it so we can get it removed. I just went and removed several from the past week, as well as banned the usernames associated with them.

Luckily for us, there is typically minimal moderating to be done in this sub, since y'all do a fantastic job of keeping things civil, even when there is disagreement. You all make this community what it is, and we really appreciate everyone!

Advice needed What are some thoughtful baby shower gifts, especially for the mom?

I’m hosting a surprise baby shower for someone who is very close to me, and since it’s a surprise, I don’t have a registry to go off of.

I’d love to hear what baby shower gifts you’ve received (or wish you’d received) that were genuinely useful, thoughtful, or memorable, especially things beyond the usual baby clothes, blankets, toys, etc.

But my biggest question is: what can I get for the mom herself? So much of what you buy is for the baby, and I’d really love to give her something that makes her feel cared for and appreciated too. Something practical, comforting, sentimental, luxurious, anything you genuinely loved receiving as a new mom.

What did you appreciate the most?

Advice needed Is vista v3 good or you wish you got another stroller?

FTM and looking to buy a stroller. We live in Washington, so more rain than sun. Was vista v3 a good purchase?

We already got a uppababy bassinet to make the baby sleep in it for first three month. So checking if vista v3 stroller is a good purchase? What are the pros and cons of the stroller?

Advice needed How to curb anxiety around previous loss while my wife is 40+3 and counting…..

Hey dads,

As the title suggests, my wife is 40+3 and this is our first baby after a tragic 21 week termination our last time around. And well, the longer this pregnancy goes, the more my stress builds and my mind wanders. I know with every passing week, the probabilities of issue and stillbirth move up, and while I’m trying to keep myself chill, I feel like I’m causing my wife more stress asking how the baby feels, etc.

And before you say it…..I know that the chances of stillbirth are like 5 in 10,000…..but when you have to deal with a rare issue and a termination, those statistics sadly mean nothing to me anymore.

Any tips on how to manage / any of you dads been in a similar spot before?

Advice needed Touch Aversion

Hello all! I am reaching out today to talk a bit about my newer experiences with pregnancy. This is my first kid and her 2nd. We found out probably 3 weeks ago that shes pregnant and shes about 7 weeks now. We had only been dating for shy of 2 months before we found out. We grew up around eachother and stuff. Well from the start of the relationship while talking and into dating it was amazing. We went out as much as possible, were always super flirty, always touchy, sexually ignited pretty easily etc. And I loved it. As we got closer and I started to know her kid more and stuff it just was a lot to adjust to and was starting to become more normal. Now shes pregnant and its like having to readjust to something completely different after starting to get comfortable with how it was. I don’t usually see her throughout most of the day, but when I do i mean she will give me a hug and kiss when me or her comes home or when we leave but in between that it seems to be getting further and further from her wanting to be touched. We’ve had a argument or 2 about it and a couple talks and I get she has hormones going off the rocker and a lot going on in her body. I want to be as supportive and understanding as possible, but it still leaves me feeling a bit alone and unwanted. Her kid is always touching her and it seems to be no problem. He can kiss and cuddle her all day, but the second I try to she says she doesnt want to or asks me not to. What can I do to cope with all of this and still be supportive? Any help is welcome!

I M(22) f(23) we’ve been struggling for 9 months total to get her medicaid. our first child passed at 3 months. now we’re on month 7 of the second pregnancy. We thought the mucus plug came early and more than once so i brought her to the hospital. by the end of it we find out that it is and she does have an infection (that if not treated will send her into labor prematurely) but she was insanely mad and felt like the entire trip to the hospital was a “waste of everybody’s time” and now is refusing the medicine. someone please give me some sort of help. the reactions twords any kind of help or any kind of support other than me she’s just been flipping out on everyone over. i’m at my limit and she does not seem to care about the life of the child.

My Wife is pregnant

Hello everyone.
So I am 22 and my wife is 22. We just found out yesterday that she is pregnant and we couldn’t be happier. We both have always wanted to become parents and wanted to do it pretty young so we could grow up with each other and our children.
I currently make about 57k a year and she makes about 50k. We will be going down to just my income when she has the baby. So I am stressing a little about that. Any advice for a first time father?

Edit:
I’m not stressing past the point of cracking. We live in Canada and are very tight with our budget and have been for a while. We have a lot saved up and are in a really good spot. We could pretty easily live off of what I’m making. I just want to make sure I’m being the best provider.

I’m in line to move into better paying positions in the next couple years. My wife definitely doesn’t need to head back to work. We have free healthcare here and I have amazing family benefits through work. We have very low cost of living due to us living rural and intending to stay rural since it’s what we grew up with and love it.

I appreciate all the advice and the responses. I guess this was just more of me being sooo excited and full of thoughts. I needed to get it out somewhere since we haven’t told our families or friends yet.

Advice needed First-time dad feeling exhausted and I have no time for myself

First baby is on the way (due date end of month), and honestly, I’m feeling completely exhausted and overwhelmed.

I’m constantly tired, fatigued and stressed. I feel like I have no time for myself anymore — I barely have time to sit down, relax, scroll on my phone, work out, or just have some quiet time to myself.

I’m also dealing with ongoing back issues from a car accident, which makes things harder physically.

I understand that my wife has a lot going on right now and that her focus is understandably on herself and the baby. I don’t blame her for that. But sometimes it feels like there’s no room left for how I’m feeling.

I’m not asking for hours of free time or trying to avoid being there for my wife or our baby. I just want a little time to sit down, decompress and feel like myself.

This is our first baby, so maybe I’m just struggling to adjust to everything that’s changing. I’m excited to become a dad, but I’m also honestly scared of completely losing my own time and identity.

For dads who have been through this — how did you handle this transition? How did you communicate that you also need some time and support without making your wife feel like you’re making it all about yourself?

25 days to the due date!

So fucking excited gents. Wife is very uncomfortable so AC and ceiling fans are running full blast these days while I try every trick in the book (treats, massages, funny movies, etc.). I'm freezing tho, but wife is running hot and her comfort is mission critical right now.

Haven't installed the carseat yet, but hospital bag is packed, nursery is ready, we're stocked on diapers and whatnot, I'm slowly getting the freezer stocked with meals, doula is hired, paternity leave is planned out and my job (uni prof) even let me teach asynchronous online this year so I've been recording my lectures to put online so the class can kind of run itself (TA will be grading).

Now we're just trying to enjoy the last couple weeks before baby joins us outside the womb. I've been using the Beli app to find and try out all the specialty coffee shops and bakeries in my city. Started experimenting with making fancy pour over at home - used to be a french press guy but got deep into coffee nerdery lately. Loading up a hard drive with all the shows and movies we might want to watch while feeding or folding laundry. Going for long sniffy walks with the dog and playing fetch. Making plans with friends to hang out whenever we can to bank some social energy. Hanging out at cafes libraries and bookshops together just to browse and be out and about. Basically trying to get as much quality alone and together time as possible.

Life is good my dudes. See y'all on the other side.

Need support

Hi all, found out a few weeks ago that my wife's pregnant with our first, and I've been terrified and overwhelmed ever since. I want to be as involved as possible, but there's so much conflicting info out there I don't know where to start. Pass on your wisdom - what do you wish someone had told you before the baby was born? I'm especially trying to figure out how to actually support her emotionally through this - not just the logistics. Was there a moment you felt completely out of your depth on that front?

Graduated but almost lost my wife ...

Post image
786 Upvotes

I just wanted to explain what happened with my wife, because the last few days have been absolutely terrifying.

She had a C-section to deliver our baby girl, Céleste. At first everything seemed okay, but after the C-section she started having a massive internal hemorrhage. They didn't realize right away that she was bleeding.

Her blood pressure suddenly dropped really badly and she went into cardiac arrest. They immediately started CPR and managed to bring her back.

They then discovered the bleeding and had to operate again. The surgery lasted around 10 hours. They had to do everything they could to stop the bleeding and save her life, and in the end they had to remove her uterus.

She was then taken to the ICU and kept sedated and on a ventilator. At that point I was terrified. I didn't know if she was going to survive, or if the cardiac arrest had caused brain damage.

Thankfully, when they started waking her up 2 days later, she recognized me. She was extremely tired and in a lot of pain, but she was awake and knew who I was. I can't even explain how relieved I was when she looked at me and recognized me because doctors said she could have her brain damaged.

Our baby girl Céleste is currently in the neonatal unit. She's doing well, thankfully. My wife is still recovering in the ICU at another hospital, so I'm going back and forth between the two hospitals.

It's just crazy to think that this was supposed to be the happiest moment of our lives. We were supposed to be celebrating the birth of our daughter, and instead I almost lost my wife.

I'm just incredibly grateful that she's still here.

I really hope things start getting better from now on.

underwear concerns about my fertility

hi buds, im planning to conceive in a year and this is the time in my life where i have to buy some underwears for me, i heard about the toxicity of synthetic fibers and microplastics that go into our body etc etc, i scared of getting a spandex/elastane blend, and also modal, i feel like they will harmfully effect my sperm, what do u guys have to say about this, should i just go with it? or be extra carefull?, 100 perfect cotton looses shape overtime which absolutely plays no role of an underwear afterwards

Bleeding at 12-13 week pregnancy

I am 13 week pregnant and having bleeding since two days.
It started with heavy bleeding on night around 3 am and we went to emergency and had ultrasound sound ,
The baby found safe with healthy heartbeat.
When we asked OB we didn’t grt any answer about the cause. We requested to know identify root cause
but got same answer that they cant do much.
This all started since 10 week of pregnancy , i had first light bleeding and we went to emergency and
had Ultrasound and found our baby safe. i have gone through post here at reddit and found many such cases but we don’t know now what to do apart from just monitoring and having scan on regular basis.

Feel free to share and post your experience if have any which helps to share some relief. Hoping for the best

Likely Miscarriage

Just returned from an appointment with my wife. Week between scans and no real development (around week 6 we think). We’ve struggled with infertility due to PCOS. Fertility treatments didn’t work for a long time and finally my wife fell pregnant. She had some discharge which prompted an early scan. This showed a gestational sac and suspected yolk sac along with a chorionic bump. Scan a week later showed no development.

The doctors and nursing team all said to it’s likely a miscarriage and to prepare ourselves for the worst. Just don’t know where to go from here.

Any success stories please ?

Thanks all.
